I Knew You Were Trouble
Chapter 17
Oh hey, you found me under this blanket of despair. Literally.
He was with her and she came onto him.
I should have known from the start. When he walked me to my class and automatically had a slut hanging off his arms I should have known. This was all bound to happen and I could tell it was going to happen. So, I being the stupid fool that I am fell head over heels for my brother’s best friend. He saved me from a boat in the middle of a pond and confessed his feelings for me on the roof of my mother’s apartment underneath the stars. We had so many moments together, and then one fight. One fight and it blows up in my face. So, it’s then automatically permission to bang his ex-girlfriend. Fuck my life.
It is now Monday afternoon considering I faked sick to hide under the covers all day. Cassadee and Jane came over to see Willow and split some Ben and Jerry’s. I had gotten so many texts from Jack and Alex it’s driving me half way between insane and hell. Jack is mostly saying ‘I’m sorry’,’ She came onto me’,’ I had nothing to do with it’,’ we didn’t do anything’, the whole shebang. Alex’s were more like ‘Are you dating Jack?’, ‘What happened?’, ‘Jack’s not speaking to me’, ‘neither you nor Jack went to school’, ‘I’m worried just answer my damn messages’, ‘Fuck it. I’m calling’. After that Alex had called from the vacant boy’s bathroom on the top floor of the school. We had a very calm discussion as to what happened. He tried convincing me that it wasn’t his fault that Holly really did barge in there. I went on about how much of an emotional wreck I am. It didn’t get anywhere in particular. We hung up after a while because he heard someone entering the bathroom. After that I was going to try and teach myself to play guitar. Just because my life is fucked up at the moment I got another phone call. It was from Jack. I sat on my bed letting it ring wondering if it’s really a good enough time to talk to him.
It is.
I answered with an emotionless “Hello”
“Elaina, you have to believe me. I know it was you who threw the rock at my window and I don’t care. I’m sorry that Holly barged into my house and tried seducing me. It didn’t work. I don’t like her anymore.”
I let him rant for about five whole minutes before he stopped and was breathing heavily into the phone. “Ok first, your apology is accepted. Second, want to come over here because we were both stupid and decided to pretend to be sick?”
“Sure, I’ll be right over”
~The Next Day~
I had just gotten into the school when I noticed the hallways were just as full as normal, but ten times quieter. That’s peculiar. I continued walking despite the whispers I was hearing and continued to my locker. It was funny how Jack wasn’t even there. Instead Alex and Jane were. “Where’s Jack?” I asked curiously when I was close enough to my locker. Alex shrugged and said “Why don’t you tell me oh sweet sister of mine”. I looked to Jane to help me decipher what the heck Alex was even saying, but her eyes were blank. “What’s going on?” I asked more confused than ever. “You tell me. Why are there rumors going around that you and Jack have been at it like rabbits the whole weekend? You go on a date with him, and then you stay over. Fight with him and make up. What happens after the make up?” he made an exaggerated motion with his arms trying to explain. This time I whispered but in a yell,”You think he and I have been fucking all weekend?”
He and Jane nodded their heads in sync. “What the hell guys” I was still whisper-yelling. “Where did you hear that?” They took their time responding; now realizing it must not be true if it’s news to me. “Hug it out” Alex offered a hug and I accepted. Jane stood there awkwardly twiddling her thumbs and hanging her head like she might not agree. “Now where did you hear all that bull shit?” I asked back in my normal light and happy tone. This time Jane spoke up,”Cassadee heard from Rian who heard from a friend of his who knows someone who lives like right across from Jack and has a friend who lives across from you”. What?
“Ok, so someone who lives across from me has a friend who lives across from Jack. Where did the rumor start?”
Both Alex and Jane were quiet silently hoping I would catch on to the answer.”Holly. Who else could it be?”
Not even a mere 15 seconds later a pair of skinny hands flew over my eyes and someone was standing close to me from behind. “Hi Jack” I said before spinning around and coming face to face with him. “How’d you know it was me?”
“Lucky guess”
Then I turned back around and Jane and Alex were gone. I wonder if Jack had heard this rumor. Maybe I should tell him. Or he probably already knows.
Yeah, he probably knows already.

This is short. And it's been a while. If i get at least one comment I'll start writing the next chapter and hopefully have it up by tomorrow. The more comments = the more motivation I have.I'm sorry if this sucks, but I'm knee deep in homework and grades and crap like that. I will be doing a sequel after I finish Fall For You which won't be over until this story is done.
