You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man
Chapter inspiration: You Ain’t Woman Enough – Paramore
Victoria decided it was about time to take into consideration the phrase, “Your past will always come back to haunt you.” She chose not to dwell on the past, but neither her, nor Alex, could run away from what was standing in front of them.
And because of this, it took her a moment to finally ask, “What are you doing here, Lisa?”
“I knew it,” Alex whispered under his breath.
She sighed and trained her eyes on anything but theirs. “Well, it looks like I’m not going to get that t-shirt …”
“I asked you a question.” Victoria said defiantly, making Alex look at her with surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“She’s Sleeping with Siren’s new website and blog manager.” Alex frowned her way when his former girlfriend glanced at his eyes. Victoria looked at him in confusion as to why he knew that. “Jaime hinted at it.” He said with a shrug.
“Jaime is right.” Lisa said, finally looking at them. Victoria remembered those blue eyes, the eyes that used to be the smooth color of water. Now, they just reminded her of cold, hard ice.
Victoria knocked her fist down on the table. “So, what? You took up the fucking job to find us and torture us again?”
“Actually, I’m good friends with the band’s manager. Their old website and blog supervisor was fired, and their manager knew I wrote popular articles on Buzznet. He thought I’d be right for the job.” Her hands were behind her back the whole time, and she soon brought them up to reveal the clipboard in her hands. She still had the same perfectly manicured and painted nails. “So before you start―”
“Listen here,” Victoria growled through clenched teeth and leaning in close to Lisa across the table.
Alex put a hand out. “Victoria―”
“Shut up, Alex.” She ordered, and he quietly put his hands down as she turned back to Lisa. “I know I betrayed your trust and I ruined your ‘perfect relationship,’ but I apologized more times than you called me a whore. I recognized my wrongs and I did as you wished: I disconnected myself from you and him for a year. I knew the consequences of not doing as you asked, but he ended it with you and you never wrote the bad article about the band anyways.”
“Do I have a say―?”
“NO, ALEX!” She pushed him away a little. “Furthermore,” she spun back, “you two are done, so I have the full right to reconnect. And if that’s your reason to come here to torture us, then do whatever you want. Write a stupid fucking article, make people hate us―do whatever the fuck you want. But I have apologized, and you have no right to continue this stupid feud.”
Lisa lifted her brow for a second and smacked the gum in her mouth. “Are you done?”
“No, I―” She was cut off by Alex’s hand covering her mouth.
“Yes, she is.” He nodded.
“Well then, you should know that I didn’t come here to torture you two. I actually really wanted this job, and when I found out I was going to be on Warped with you guys, I was really excited to see you all again.” She threw them her sweetest smile, but Victoria see the fakeness behind it. “So can you guys forgive me like I have with you? Just put it all behind us?”
“Whatever …” Victoria muttered as Alex said, “Sure.” He then received a glare from Victoria.
“Awesome!” Lisa waved her hands a little, shaking the millions of silver bracelets on her arms. “So … how are you two? Are you together?”
Alex ruffled the back of his hair. “Well―”
“No.” Victoria frowned with a furrowed brow.
“Oh …” Lisa trailed off, but still left the small smile on her face. “Are you―?”
“How about we save the questions for another day?” Victoria gave the girl in front of her the best fake grin she could. “I’m sure you have business to attend to.”
Lisa looked from Alex―a little longer than she should of, Victoria noticed―to the dark blonde next to him. “Yeah, of course.” She nodded, flipping through some of the papers on her clipboard. “I actually need someone to show me where I can find the tent for Mixta―”
“I can show you.” Victoria quickly offered, the grin still plastered on her face.
She swiftly took Lisa’s arm and led her in the direction of Mixtape’s tent, leaving Alex with a confused face back at their tent. The former friends walked quietly, fake smiles both covering their face.
“What really is your goal, Lisa?” Victoria finally muttered with clenched teeth in a smile.
A smirk appeared on the brunette’s face. “I just want to make amends. Is that so bad?”
All Victoria did was look down at her, staring deep into that smirk that could either be for good or bad. She didn’t quite know yet.
“I can show myself the rest of the way there.”
Lisa strutted her way over to Mixtape’s tent, and that was when Victoria knew she was going to regret taking up this job.
This was going to be one hell of a tour.
