Chapter 7
Alex's POV
It was Monday morning and I stood at my locker, waiting for Jack. I had to say sorry today. I had to let him know that I wasn't mad. I stood there for a few more minutes before I saw Jack. I smiled and he smiled back. "Jack...I'm so sorry, okay. I didn't mean to do that to you, I was just confused. I'm not mad, please don't hate me." He looked at me with sad eyes then, the deep brown colour starting to dull. He looked at me in the eyes as he spoke.
"I don't hate you Lex. And I'm sorry too, for telling Rian and Zack." I laughed. "No big deal. Thanks Jack. You're my best friend, Jay, and I could never lose you." I buried my face in his chest and hugged his waist. He hugged me back, arms slowly dragging up my sides before resting around my shoulders, and kissing my head. "Same, Lex. I can't lose you either. Please remember that." I pulled away smiling. "Let's go to Math." He nodded and took my hand in his, walking me to our first class.
At lunch, everyone was happy and smiling. "So, Zack and I did a good job then, huh? You two seem happy." I nodded. "Yeah, I have my best friend back." The two smiled at us, but Zack frowned. "What, Zack?" I asked. "Nothing." Rian looked at him. "No, it's not nothing. What's up?" He shrugged. "Just someone I like who doesn't like me back." Jack laughed. "How do you know? You won't know until you try." Zack looked at him, grimacing, his eyebrows fusing together. "Yeah, try taking your own advice bro." Jack pouted. I smiled sadly. I forgot that Jack liked someone; someone who is obviously not me. Looks like I'm not getting him. (Look at me claiming him as mine already) But Jack was right. You won't know until you try.
"Go, Zack." I said, encouraging him on. "Go get them. I'm sure they'll like you back." He stood up slowly. "Yeah. Yeah I think I will." He made his way over to a lunch table and we all watched as he stopped, wringing his fingers together nervously as he talked to Lukas. "Wait...he likes Lukas? Oh my god!" I said. Jack nodded. "He told me yesterday."
"Wow." I said. We all turned to each other to talk, giving Zack his privacy. "Well I hope it works out." Jack said. I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, he deserves somebody who will treat him right." I said. Lukas was a really nice guy, and he could give so much to Zack. “He deserves someone that will be with him, no matter what the situation was; someone who will always love him. And someone who truly understands him.” Jack looked at me. "And so do you, Lex." I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "You're so sweet." He blushed, and it was adorable. I don't know if I'm gay. But I do know that I love Jack, I wouldn't mind kissing him again.
Zack came over, Lukas by his side. "Guys, this is Lukas. I told him how I felt, he feels the same." We all cheered and clapped and Lukas laughed. "I thought he'd never come up to me to be honest. And I was way too afraid to make a move." Zack smiled. "Then I'm glad these three gave me a little push." They two sat down, being all cute and I smiled sadly. I want that. Most of all, I want that with Jack. We're already like that, but as friends. I don't want to be just friends anymore. "Hey Lexi, come to mine today. Let’s chill." Jack said, running his index finger along my forearm.
"Okay sure." I said, smiling at Jack. We sat and ate our lunch, all of us happy for once. It was nice to sit here without an awkward silence, or someone in a bad mood. The bell rang and Jack and I said goodbye to the others and made our way to English.
"Class! I need to know your subjects for your assignments! I'm going by pair. Jade and Maya?" The teacher went pair by pair. "Olivia and Logan?" Olivia spoke up. "Um, we're doing a poem on life." The teacher nodded. Lame. "Jack and Alex?" Jack slipped down into his seat, too shy to speak, so I spoke. "We're doing our opinions on love." The teacher wrote it down. "Interesting, boys. Good, now get back to work everyone."
The bell rand and we headed to my car, driving to Jack's. Jack turned on the radio, putting in my Blink CD. We listened to Blink 182 the whole way to Jack's singing along. When we arrived, Jack ran up to his door. "Hurry Lex, it's supposed to rain, and I wanna get comfy under a blanket!" I laughed at him. He was so cute. We walked in, taking our shoes off and throwing out bags down on the floor. We walked into his bedroom and I sat down on his bed as he went to grab his queen sized blanket to fit around both of us.
He came back in and sat beside me, throwing the blanket around our shoulders. He covered us with the rest of the blanket and Jack turned the tv on with the remote before cuddling into my side. He laid his head on my chest and sighed. "You're comfy." He said. I giggled. "Thanks." He traced invisible shapes on my chest as we watched tv, thunder starting to pound outside. "I love it when we cuddle during the rain." I said. I felt him smile against me. "Me too. But only with you." I smiled. Things couldn't get any better. Unless, we date. But for now, this is good enough. Being with Jack under a warm blanket, holding him as he tensed up at every boom of thunder.
