Jack

“Dude, you need to quit all this pouting.” Rian said on our way to school. “And don't you dare act like a jackass all day to Alex.”
“But he lied! He was with her. I don't care if his mom is there but-” I insisted.
“Shut up you jealous dipshit. I doubt he was actually doing anything with Holly.” Rian's said, but I knew he was wrong.

I was furious when I was looking into some cafe to see Holly sitting and chatting with Alex and his mom like old friends. And then he lied to me. Why lie? Unless he has something to hide.

“Don'ts say that whores name. Is this her idea of getting back at me? Stealing Alex?”
“Holly isn't smart enough for that, and what is this? A bad drama? No. We're living in the real world.” Rian said, and swerved into a parking spot. “Now, take my advice. Just stay calm, he'll tell you if something is up.”
“Whatever.” I grumbled, opening the door and stomping out.

I walked into school, completely avoiding Alex's locker on the way to my first period. I'm not ready to see him quite yet. I didn't want to talk to him, I didn't want to ask about it, all I wanted to do was yell and demand to know why he felt the need to lie to me. Rian's wrong. He's hiding something or else he. Would. Not. Lie.
That's I spent my day, purposely avoiding Lex, his locker, and where I know his classes are. My phone's been going off, probably him asking where I was. I didn't bother checking it. Thankfully everyone around me, teachers included, noticed I was in a terrible mood and didn't bug me. I thought things were going to go well up until I strolled into the cafeteria.

Alex was already sitting down at the table.

And Rian saw me, immediately giving me a “what the fuck did I tell you” glare.

I ignored it and headed over anyway. Thankfully, Alex's back was to me for the moment, and even though I could tell it was hunched over and tense, it meant he didn't know I was here yet. Unthankfully, the only seat left was my usual spot right next to him. So when I plopped down, Alex jumped and looked at me.

“Jack? You're here?” He asked, wide-eyed.
“I guess so.” I mumbled.
“Were you skipping again? I thought-”
“No, I've been here.” I said.
“I haven't seen you.” I looked at him and almost felt bad about this, he looked so disappointed.
“Big school.” Shrugging as I looked away. I could feel Rian's glare, and everyone else's confusion. Along with the hurt sound of Alex's voice as he kept questioning me.
“Why weren't you answering my texts then?”
“Why are you being a clingy bitch?” I snapped, looking back at him. Alex's mouth closed as he stared at me shocked.

“Jack!” Rian stood up. “Conference. Now.”

I pouted at him but got up to follow behind him, leaving without so much as a glance back at Alex. We left the lunch room and Rian immediately started ranting.

“What the fuck is wrong with you? What did I tell you this morning? Alex has been wondering where you were all day and when you finally decide to show your stupid face you're acting like a complete dickhead.”
“I'm not being a dickhead, I'm being mad.” I explained, like that would fix everything.
“I told you to fucking ask him what happened first. Jumping to conclusion helps no one, especially in a situatuin like this. Look at that.” He pointed back to our table, where Alex was definitely shaking while Cass tried comforting him. “If anyone else in this fucking world made Lex look like that, what would you do?”

I paused for a moment, looking back to see him turn his face to say something to Cass and wipe at his eyes. Looking away I shoved my hands in my pockets and stared at the ground before sighing.

“Probably kick their ass.”
“And trust me, I wanna fucking kill you right now.” Rian said, before breathing hard through his nose, clearly trying to calm down. “But, instead. I'm going to go get Alex, send him out here, and you're going to apologize.”
“But-”
“Ah ah ah,” He stopped me. “Apologize. Explain and then ask him about what's pissing you off so badly. Live happily ever after. Got it?” I didn't say anything, staring at the ground still. “Got it?!”
“Yes, okay, got it.” I barked back, crossing my arms.
“Good.”

Rian walked away from me, going to the table and setting his hand on Alex's shoulder as he talked to him. I tried staying angry while waiting in the hall, but Rian's words got to me. He's right, had anyone else treated Lex like that, I probably would have killed them by now. Now I was just feeling like....well a dickhead I guess.

I guess I really need to work on my temper.

“J-jack?” I was broken out of my reverie by Alex, now standing in front of me. His nose was clearly still red, and he was fiddling around with his hands.
“Hey...” I scratched the back of my neck, looking for where to start. “I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that.”
“Did I do something?” Alex asked immediately. “You've clearly been avoiding me and just now you... Am I bugging you? Am I really clingy?”
“No, no. You're not, it's just that....” I took a deep breath and spoke. “I know you lied to me about doing nothing the other day. I saw you with your mom...and Holly.”
“Oh.” Alex's eyes widened with surprised. “I-i..”
“Why did you lie to me?”
“ I was trying to avoid something like this.” He explained. “I thought if I told you, you would have...well freaked out. B-but I didn't do anything wrong, I swear. Holly just kinda showed up during mom and mine's outing thing and sat down talking to her. I couldn't exactly say 'oh mother don't talk to her, she's a whore that wants my boyfriend that you think I broke up with but I didn't.'”
“Wait, so Holly just came up and started bugging you?”
“Yeah..”
“Did she say anything? Try anything?”
“She almost mentioned you but I interrupted and she went on some spiel about modeling.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah..”

We both were quiet for a moment as awkwardness found it's way between us. Alex was biting his lip, clearly uncomfortable with the tension. Without any other idea on what to do, I decided to just use a hand to tilt his chin up and leaned down to give him a quick peck of the lips.

“I'm sorry,” I said, again. “I shouldn't have gotten so angry without asking.”
“Your jealousy does kinda go over the top.” He chuckles, smiling a bit.
“Some people think jealousy is cute.” I defended, making Alex laugh and shook his head.
“Well I don't.”
“Well, fine.” I pouted, before smiling again. “So...”
“So?”
“I hear you're going to Rian's for Christmas?”
“Hmm....maybe.” He answered, a sly smile growing on his face.
“You're not hoping to see someone special there, are you?” I asked, idly moving my hand to rest on his side.
“Certainly not, I just wanna hang out with my best friend, Ri.” He teased and I pinced him. “Ow! Hey!”
“Don't be a little jerk,” I scolded.
“Oh fine, yes I wanna spend the holiday with my oh so loving and perfectly nice boyfriend.” He joked and I rolled my eyes letting the sarcastic little shit do what he wants.
“Good, cause he has a very important gift for you.”
“Oh does he?”
“Mhhm.”
“Well, can't wait to receive it. Now can we go back before lunch is over? I'm hungry.” He complained and I nodded letting him take my hand and lead me back.

Looks like I'll have to thank Rian later....and maybe get a couple more things for Alex to make up for today. But I think I might have a word with Holly later today as well.

WOW, I have been so dead and I so sorry. I just, I have been slacking on wiritng lately cause I just don't have the motivation much these days (between work, lack of sleep, and school things) it sucks. But, plan on trying harder to get some creative juices flowing and going.
