Do it for me

I sat at the table, talking to Rian as he cooked some scrambled eggs for the house of hungover, hungry teenagers. From our talk early in the morning, I felt bad for Rian. He loved Bethany, but I don't know if she loved him.

The first person to walk downstairs was Zack. He glanced over at us and waved, scratching at his messy hair."Good morning."

I waved."Morning, Zack." I bit my lip, keeping my mouth shut. I didn't want to start anything.

Rian looked at Zack and nodded."Morning." He smiled at Zack, flipping an egg onto the plate. "Where did you and Bethany go last night? We wanted to all go swimming."

Zack glanced at Rian."Oh..." He looked around."She was getting upset from the alcohol, I guess. It doesn't mix well with her. She was asking me for advice and just blabbing out certain things. She wanted you, but she was too scared that you'd judge her."

I instantly watched Rian's expression change, to a more hopeful, but still sad expression."Oh..Is she okay now? Should I go check on her?"

Zack smiled."I think she'd like that. I tucked her in last night. She's probably really hungover." He nodded and sat at the table.

Rian nodded."I will. Thanks for taking care of her." He patted Zack's back, walking upstairs.

I smiled at Zack and drank my orange juice."I thought you guys hooked up." I mumbled.

Zack laughed loudly, shaking his head."Del, I don't do that.. I don't just hook up with people. You know me."

I nodded, biting my lip."I'm kind of glad you didn't."

Zack raised an eyebrow."Why is that?"

I smiled at him."Rian likes her..no, he loves her. I just didn't want some issues between you guys, because he really loves Bethany."

Zack smiled."I know he does. I can tell. He looks at her that certain way."

I glanced at him and smiled, nodding."Yeah. I don't think I've ever been looked at that way."

Zack frowned."You will be, trust me. You just gotta wait for that guy to come around."

I smiled and nodded."I know.. I guess I could wait." I laughed quietly, standing up."I'm guessing I'm finishing the breakfast." I laughed quietly, grabbing the spatula.

Zack laughed along."I guess so."

Rian walked up the stairs, knocking onto the door of the room where Bethany was sleeping."Beth?" He said quietly.

Bethany groaned quietly."Come in." She muttered.

Rian walked in and closed the door quietly, smiling."Hey..how are you feeling?" He sat on the bed by her feet.

Bethany smiled at him and nibbled her lip softly."I'm okay..my head hurts."

Rian nodded."I thought you would say that." He sat down a plate of eggs and toast next to her, as well as some Advil." This should make you feel better."

Bethany smiled at him."Thank you Ri.." She said quietly, sitting up.

Rian sighed, nibbling his lip."you know.. I thought you and Zack got together last night."

Bethany shook her head."Oh no...no Rian.. We wouldn't.. never."

Rian nodded."I know.. I know that wouldn't happen." He smiled at her.

Bethany laughed quietly."I have my eye on someone else, don't worry."

Rian raised an eyebrow."He's one lucky dude."

Bethany laughed quietly and leaned in, kissing his lips softly.
