Six

The nice fall days shifted to the bitter winter days in a flash. It was December and almost time for me to celebrate my birthday. The fun part about is that I'm born on the winter solstice, December 22, 1987. I was turning 18. A set back to my birthday was that it was a full moon tonight.
"I don't want to spend your birthday night in Alex's basement," Jack complained while we all hung out at the local arcade. I wore my teal Peter Pan tee, white skinny jeans, my grey uggs, and a grey cardigan.
"We could have you guys turn in the basement and then usher you guys to the woods," I offered.
"How about we borrow my dad's capped truck and just turn there and then run off into the woods," Rian offered instead.
"You are a genius," I kissed him on the cheek. He gave the guys a cheeky grin and Jack playfully flipped him off.

Rian had me drive the truck to the edge of the forest while all of the guys had the uncomftable ride in the capped truck bed stark naked. They had their clothes packed in the cab with me. I bundled up since tonight was going to be really fucking cold. I grabbed my bag that I packed myself some snacks for myself and the guys and my flashlight and some homework I had to do.
I got out of the ruck and swung my bag over my back and I waited unitl I heard a paw smack a window of the bed cap before I opened it to release the wolves. Alex and Rian led me and the others into the woods. Jack stayed at my side the entire walk and would nudge my hand to guide to easier paths to where Alex and Rian were leading us.
That's when we reached the clearing. The meadow that the guys and I hung out in during last spring was now covered in pure white snow. I was in awe. Then my attention was caught by a large tent that was pitched in the field and my bestie and Alex's girlfriend, Lisa poked her head out.
"Mir Bear," she shreiked. We hadn't seen each other since she was transfered to the nearby all girls prep school so she could go into an ivy league school.
"Lisa Piza," I shreiked back as I ran up and hugged her tightly. Alex and Jack both bounded over to us like they were two stoked dogs playing with their owners. Jack jumped on me and took me down into the snow.
"Jack easy you'll break me," I roared with laughter as he licked my face profusely.
"Jack heel," Lisa playfully commanded my boyfriend. He responded and sat down next to Alex.
"How can you do that," I asked her.
"Alex was made alpha last week. As 'alpha female' Jack listens to me too," she informed me.
"Let's go into the tent so I can set up my space to sleep tonight," I said as I picked up my bag and headed into the tent.

I set out a blanket I packed out in the snow and I was star gazing. Jack trotted over and laid himself down next to me.
"It's now midnight on December 22nd. I'm offically an adult now," I sighed and rolled over to lean on my elbow to look at Jack. That's when his ears perked up and he stiffened.
"Jack what's the matter," I asked him. He stood up and circled around me. I turned around and I saw the hunters. At the head of the group was my dad.
"Dad why are you here," I asked confused.
"There's one. Nuetralize it boys," I knew he was talking about Jack. One of the hunters went to shoot a tranq at him but I leaped over Jack and took the dart for him.
"Mirela Lupei stand aside," my dad barked at me. I took the tranq out of my leg and threw it into the snow.
"Not a chance. You can't harm him. he's done nothing wrong," I defended Jack.
"That's a werewolf loose on a full moon Mirela. He is a threat to you and Baltimore. We must take him into custody," he was not changing his mind.
"If you take him, you're taking me too," I blew my cover.
"What is wrong with you Mirela. You are a hunter. It's your birth right to protect the innocent from the wolves," he was furious.
"Well I owe it to my boyfriend to protect him. He's an innocent. And a werewolf. And I will not let you take him away," I was on the verge of tears. I was afraid of what might happen to me.
"Who is the wolf Mirela," he asked, not standing down.
"His name is Jack Bassam Barakat. I love him dad. I will stand by him even if it means that I'm forced to leave my family," I was done being a Lupei if it meant being a heartless person toward those in werewolf families.
"Take them down," he ordered his men. They charged me and Jack, tanquilizing both of us.

I came to some time later. I was bound to a chair that was bolted to the floor. I saw Jack and he was still unconscious, but chained to the floor my his wrists and ankles.
"Jack," I whispered to try to wake him. It worked.
"Mirela," he whispered, his voice was totally shot.
"What did they do to you," I asked trying to see if I could loosen my bindings.
"They hit me with whips that were embeded with silver and soaked in wolf's bane oil," that's when I noticed the blood that coated the floor around him and his skiin.
"Oh my god. Jack I am so sorry," I was helpless and I felt so guilty at what they did to him.
"You are awake at last, my daughter," my father strolled in.
"You are a bastard for what you did to him," I spat at him. He slapped me really hard with the back of his hand, setting Jack off.
"That is not how you address that head of your household Mirela," he snapped. He went to a work bench and grabbed the whips that were used on Jack. He started to swing the whips at Jack each time he drew blood from him and each hit made him fall to the floor.
"Stop it! Stop it! Oprește-te (Stop it!)," I screamed as hot rageful tear fell from my eyes.

Notes

What is Jack's fate? What happened to the others? Will Mir be able to escape from her father and run away with Jack? You'll have to read to find out. I'm going to try to add some Romanian into Mir's dialogue so she can seem more like a Romanian born girl and to add to her emotional anguish at what has happened in her life.
