Forever Young

Adjusting

Being. Pregnant. Sucks.

I was getting close to what I believed was the end of my third week, and my stupid morning sickness hasn't gone away. I don't even thing I can call it morning sickness. Cause it's all the time.

“Em?” Matt knocked on the bathroom door. “Are you sure this 'stomach bug' is really harmless?”
“Ugh, Mickey. Come in here.” Jack has been telling me to at least tell Matt soon. I just don't want to jinx anything. I did my research, the baby was like, a ball of cells and tissues or something right now.
“Em...are you okay?” He opened the door, stepping in and shutting it.
“Mattt.” I sighed, getting up and flushing the toilet. Man I was sick of looking in that thing. “I need to tell you something, but it has to stay on the down low.”
“What?” He looked at me with concerned.”
“I'm,” I took a breath. Admitting it was still hard and new. “I'm pregnant.”
“What.” He asked, paling. “You are?”
“Yeah.” I chuckled. “That's why I'm so sick.”
“Oh.”
“Matt, you seem so lost.” I said, and he just shrugged.
“I just, I mean....we're still kind of young.”
“I'm twenty-four.” I laughed.
“Well, this changes a lot of things.”
“Like what?”
“Well for one, no more signing for you. Standing in the heat like that can not be good for you.” He said, immediately going into manager mother hen mode. “We should get you a portable water bottle, constantly having to go through like five plastic bottles must get annoying. Whenever you feel tired, you tell me, okay? And-”
“Whoa, Matt slow down.” I interrupted. “It will be okay.”
“I'm not taking chances.” He said. “Last thing we need is you fainting, or worse. Jack would kill me for over working you while you're like this!”

I sighed, and just let Matt ramble a bit before we both left the bathroom. It didn't take long for Jack to realize Matt knew, and he seemed happy that I was now going to be treated like a pregnant woman. It was just weird to me, I didn't want to change my whole routine, but then I thought back how the doctor said I might be at risk. The word miscarriage crossed my mind, and I felt sick for a whole new reason. Jack was really happy about this baby now, as was I. Maybe it would be better if I did make sure to cater to its needs.

Matt gave me the day off, telling me to relax or something. I, of course, got bored when everyone was gone because the boys had a signing, and the merch tables were open. We were in St. Louis now, and it was hotter then hell, but dammit, I hate sitting around. Getting up, I changed out of my comfy clothes. Some shorts, and a crop-top were soon on me, I slipped on the flip-flops and grabbed my sunglasses. As I got off the bus, I peaked around, wondering who was out and about. My hand unconsciously went to my stomach, it was still flat, but somehow I was still wondering if anyone would notice. I shook my head, and got off, starting to walk around. The buses were all bustling with people, but I was looking for a certain face. I hope she's not performing....

“Ember!” I heard someone call, and looked over. There she is.
“Tay!” I ran over, ready to hug the life out of her. However, when I got to her, I swayed a bit from dizzyness.
“Whoa, you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Just the heat.” I mumbled, and she knitted her brows.
“We have a cooler by the bus, let's grab a couple bottles and explore, yeah?”
“Sounds like a plan, we haven't talked much this whole time yet.” I smiled, and she slung an arm around my shoulders as we walk.
“So girly, how's the married life?”

Tay and I talked as we got to her bus, where we met up with the rest of her band. We all sat under the shade of their bus, talking and joking around. I didn't even realize how long I had been gone, until their manager got off the bus and said they needed to head to play, now. I checked my phone as I waved them off, realizing it's been a good three hours....and I missed texts from both Jack and Matt.

Sighing, I just walked to the bus, hurrying along. Thankfully, I took a new bottle of water with me. It was practically gone when I got back though.

“There you are!” Jack was standing outside the bus, and quickly walked over. “Where have you been? I've been worried sick.”
“I was just hanging with Tay.” I assured. Jack took me into his arms and squeezed gently.“I was under the shade and had plenty of water. I'm okay.”
“Why didn't you answer my texts?”
“My phone was on silent. I'm sorry.”
“Just, don't disappear like that, okay?” He asked, and I just sighed and nodded. “Good.”

Jack kissed my forehead and we hopped onto the bus. Matt went through all the motions with me that Jack had just done again.

“What is with you two?” Alex asked, seeming annoyed. Then again, he's probably tired. Today's been a long day. “She can go wherever she wants.”
“You don't get, Lex.” Jack sighed.
“What's there to get? What the fuck does that mean?”
“Whoa, calm down guys.” I quickly stepped in. “Alex, it's fine.”
“Whatever.” He snorted, going back to pissing around on his phone.

I rolled my eyes and patted Jack's arm so he didn't say anything more. We needed to talk anyway. Grabbing his hand, I pulled us to the bunk area, and slipped in. I sat cross legged, while Jack rested his back against the wall.

“So, I uh, called our doctor yesterday.” I started.
“Which one?” He asked.
“The family one, for physical issues.” I said. “She said she can send our medical history to the towns we need to have appointments in so it doesn't take them so long to look for it.”
“So...when's the first one.”
“I was hoping the next town we go to we can do one really fast.” I bit my lip. “But I could go alone if you don't find time.”
“I'll make time.” He leaned over and gave me a peck. “I wanna be there as much as I can.”
“Jack, I already know it will be difficult. Don't worry I assured.”
“I just wanna be there all the time.” He pouted and I leaned over to snuggle into his chest.

“It will all work out.”
