It was the last class of the day. Jack was in music theory they had been learning about accidentals. The other kids in the class were in little groups sitting and muttering. Jack was standing in the corner by the door, waiting for the final bell to ring.
Ben was standing by the teacher talking about missing the next two weeks. His family was going on a trip to Barbados and was getting the homework from the classes he was going to miss. Somewhere deep down Jack was jealous. Everytime Jack went over to Ben's house his parents were always nice to him. Almost too nice, like they felt sorry for him. Whenever he was at Ben's house the cuboards were always full, he never had to worry about not having enough food like Jack did. Ben never had to worry about whether to pay the eletric bill or get food for the family
Ben had security, Jack had to worry whether the rent could get paid or if they were going be homeless. Jack's family never had much money, yes Jack had a few guitars and some money saved up, but not a lot. All the money Jack had; he saved from Christmas and Birthdays the last fourteen years. Whenever his Mom said they needed something small like milk or bread he would steal the money from the school store, which Jack helped run. He felt bad for doing it, but he couldnt really do anything else.
The bell rang and Jack stuck his headphones in and walked to his locker wanted waited outside the main doors for Alex and Rian. He saw Alex walking down the hall and smiled a bit.
"Hey Jacky? Are we still going to hang out today?"
"Of course Baby, I'm gonna go find Rian. I love you babe." Jack leaned in and kissed him and waved goodbye
