Drama By Name

Epilogue

It had been just over seven months since Jack had left his job, and life could not have been better. Jack had taken back his old job at the kindergarten as a teaching assistant. But when one of the daycare staff had had to leave, Jack jumped at the chance. Better pay and fewer hours, he’d started working the morning shift, leaving him time in the afternoons to work on his newly resurrected guitar skills, and be at home waiting for when Alex was let out of school. His independent music was selling fast and a lot of his pieces had been purchased by a few local bands in Baltimore.

Alex was doing well in school and was well on his way to leaving with a reasonably good set of grades. Zack and Matt were still going strong, even if Matt did have a small mark on his criminal record for trespassing on school property to see Zack. Neither had harmed for nearly 6 months and Zack had all but moved into Matt's house, being dropped off at the school gates each morning in Matt's new-old car.

Rian and Cassadee had patched things up after he’d accidentally knocked Alex out, and were looking at flats together. Apparently Cass' father had been bugging Rian about proposing to Cass, but she’d put her foot down, and decided that she’d had enough of her parents. She’d been staying at Rian's for around 2 months before they decided to try and find a place of their own, and from all angles, they were the schools perfect couple.

Tay and Patrick had stayed together, but both were still very shy around other people. No one really knew what was happening with their relationship, but they were always seem with each other around school, and if you were very lucky, one might see them holding hands at lunch. But that kind of thing was a rare and precious occasion. Everyone agreed that there were adorable together, and they seemed like they would last for a long time.

Jaime, however, was still stuck at the music store. He had never lived his old dream of being in a band, or working in events management. He had remained at the store, and probably would stay there for a long time. One thing that had changed, however, was his hair. He had cut it and dyed the blonde patch out, to now match the rest of his hair. He’d also become a little more friendly in general, and no longer acted like a creep around Alex. He’d even apologised for the way he’d acted towards Alex, and written a letter to Jack, to say sorry for the way he had acted when they’d been together. Both of them had accepted his apology, and Alex had even gotten a weekend job in the music store.

Everything had worked out for the better, as far as Alex could tell, even after his mom had hinted that she knew who Jack was all along.

As Alex and Jack sat there on the sofa, the warm oranges and pinks of the sunset beaming through the window as they watched TV, he could not have been happier. Every now and again he’d look back at the past few months, and at how he and Jack came to be, and couldn’t help but laugh at the dramatic circumstances of their relationship. He chuckled softly at the irony of the fact Jack had been his Drama teacher and would every now and again smile and think to himself: Drama by name, drama by nature.
