Alex Gaskarth Must Die

All the Small Things

Ah, the cafeteria at Dulaney High School. I observed the groups. The “gangstas”. The preps. The geeks. The marching band. The jocks. The anime freaks. The activists. You get the idea.

And then there was me. Little old Rhiannon Matthews. I don’t think 90% of these kids knew who I was.

And that was fine.

A chunk of an eraser flew at my head and caught in my wavy hair. I narrowed my eyes, glancing around. I spotted the music lovers’ table, AKA Alex Gaskarth and his band and their “groupies”.

Jack Barakat was laughing behind his hands. I spotted Rian Dawson sitting next to him. He was the only one that didn’t look like a douche bag. I locked eyes with him and he mouthed the word “sorry” to me. He jerked his head in Jack’s direction and shrugged, as if saying “What can you do?” I waved my hand, saying “It’s no big deal.”

After lunch, I had Anatomy, but I ended up being late because the lock on my locker had jammed, making it impossible to get my textbook.

“Nice of you to join us, Ms. Matthews. Do you think you need a personal invitation to attend my class?” the teacher, Mr. Enders, said, crossing his arms.

“Sorry.” I mumbled and walked to my seat in the back.

I was shaken again from my thoughts when I felt my foot collide with an outstretched leg and I went tumbling down, books and all.

My face reddened and I looked up to see who did it. None other than Alex Gaskarth. What did he and his posse have against me? I was but a small speck on their radar. What did I matter to them?

“Sorry, I was just stretching.” Alex shrugged, smirking, as Rian bent down to help me pick up my stuff.

“Sorry about Alex. He can be a little...” he trailed off, searching for the right word.

“Obnoxious?” I guessed, sitting down in my seat. Alex and Jack were in front of me and Rian was across from me.

“I was going to say inconsiderate but that works too. I’m Rian, by the way.” he said, holding out his hand.

“Rhiannon,” I said, taking his hand in mine. I decided to ignore the fact that I already knew their names from being in school with them. Obviously, they were too far up their own asses to learn my name.

“Blah blah blah!” Alex yelled.

“Alex, shut up.” Rian laughed.

“What? Since when do you chat up random geeks?” Alex asked, smirking. “No offense, baby.” he added, putting a “comforting” hand out to me.

“Who are you anyway? Did you just transfer here or something?” Jack added.

“Guys, seriously. Rhiannon, would you like to be my lab partner? Mine switched classes so he won’t be coming back and I see you don’t have one.” Rian said.

“I...um...what?” I asked blankly.

“Would...you...like...to be...my...lab partner?” Rian asked slowly.

“Uh, sure.” I replied.

“Okay.” I replied, moving my stuff over to his table.

“Ooh, Kara better watch out!” Jack called.

“If you’re going to dump Kara, can I have her? She’s hot.” Alex asked.

“No, I’m not dumping Kara. I can talk to girls.” Rian said.

“You just keep telling yourself that, buddy.” Alex said.

Omg that’s amazing, thank you!

I know what's going to happen but at the same time I'm sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting to see how things develop
