A Tongue Like a Nightmare That Cut Like a Blade

After hearing the girl’s story, Alex pulled her into a hug. “I understand,” he stated simply. His hand runs up and down her back. They sit like this in silence until they hear someone outside of their bunk.

“Are you two up yet?” they hear the lanky plushie looking man ask. “We need to get ready to go out for signing.”

“I’ll be right out.” They hear Jack walk away from them. Alex turned to Aurora. “You probably already guessed this, but I like you, more than I thought I would. Um, maybe we can go on a date sometime?”

“Or you can just ask me to be your girlfriend like I know you want to.”

“Or that...”

“Yes.”

“Huh?”

“I’ll be your girlfriend.”

“Awesome. Um, I think we should get dressed now and go out there. They’re waiting.”

“Yeah.”

Alex grabbed his boxers that were at the foot of the bunk and put them on under the blanket. Aurora did the same. The caramel haired man got out of the bunk and grabbed a pair of clothes from his bag before getting dressed in the hallway since no one was looking. Aurora grabbed her clothes, but she got dressed in the bathroom.

Alex put on a Glamour Kills tank top and a pair of black skinny jeans. Since he wasn’t in the mood to do his hair at the moment, he just put a beanie on. Aurora put on a pair of skinny jeans and a black T-shirt. Aurora didn’t have a problem with bed hair, so she just left it the way it was.

The two of them walked out into the front and was greeted by everyone. Aurora went over and sat down with her cousin and smiled at Jasmine. Alex went over to Jack and smiled at how Jack couldn’t take his eyes off of his daughter. Jack’s eyes eventually left his child and looked at Alex instead.

“Alex, would you mind going on a walk with me?” the Lebanese man asked.

“Since when do you go on walks?” Alex laughed a little bit before nodding his head.

The two friends got off of the bus and started walking in a random direction. The two of them stayed silent until Jack started to speak up. “So did you and Aurora...?”

“Yeah.”

“I’m surprised that she let you. She doesn’t seem like that kind of girl.”

“She isn’t. I was actually her first. She likes me, and I like her.”

“Did you ask her out?”

“I just asked her out on a date, but she agreed to be my girlfriend, so I didn’t have to ask her.”

“I see.”

Again, silence filled the air. The started walking to what looked like a park. The two entered it and saw a couple of younger kids with their parents. The look of them all reminded Jack of how energetic his daughter would probably be.

“Why did you want to walk with me?” Alex asked after they passed the kids.

“Alesia wanted me to talk to you.”

“About what?”

“Aurora.”

“You don’t have to. She told me what happened.”

“Wait. Aurora told you what happened?”

“Yeah.”

“She actually spoke to you?”

“Yeah. I heard her singing the other day, so she just gave up. She just doesn’t want to talk to any of you guys yet.”

“I can’t believe she actually spoke to you though. Alesia went ahead and told me what happened to her since I’m part of the family now.”

“It’s kind of funny. You told me to sleep with her just like you did with Alesia in order to get her to talk.”

“I still can’t believe that she’s talking to you. She won’t even talk to Alesia, and Alesia is deaf.”

“Well, she is.”

“Alesia also told me that you better not hurt her.”

“Why would I hurt her?”

“Well, you might, and she is already broken. You’re just starting to fix her, and it would be terrible if you broke her so much that she just shattered. Alesia said that she will never forgive you if you hurt her.”

“I wouldn’t forgive myself either. She’s different than any other girl I’ve been with. It’s just like how Alesia is different than all the girl’s that you’ve been with. I think that she’s good for me just like how Alesia is good for you. Since you’ve been with her, you’ve become more mature and so much happier. I never would have thought that you would be able to take care of a kid especially now, but you two are doing just fine. I mean, Aurora watches her too, but I never would have thought that everything would be as good as it is.”

“I never thought that I could either, but it just feels right.”

“I hope I’m like you when I finally have a kid.”

“Really?”

“You’re still yourself, but you have that look in your eyes. You’re able to live the way you want to live while taking care of a life and being with your wife. That’s amazing.”

“Well, when you do have a kid, you’ll probably be like this.”

All of a sudden, Alex stops walking completely. “Shit.”

“What?”

“Oh my God.”

“What?”

“I, uh, didn’t...”

“Really Alex? At least I was drunk when that happened.”

“What if something happens? I mean, it only takes one time as we can see with you and Alesia.”

“Don’t worry. She might not be though. You’ll just have to make sure when you’re able to check, ok?”

“Right, but what if she is?”

“Well, I’m sure that you’ll be fine. I mean, look at me.”

“I know, but...”

“Just don’t worry about this until later, ok?”
