A Tongue Like a Nightmare That Cut Like a Blade

“Did you see a black book on the floor last night?”

It was late when everybody came into the bus. They had smiles on their faces, but Aurora was still plaguing Alex’s thoughts. He couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to her. He sighed before telling everyone that he was going to bed. Alex had almost made it to the bunks when a hand grabbed his wrist. He turned around to find his best friend with a worried face.
“Are you ok?” Jack asked.
Alex nodded. “I’m just tired. That show took all the energy out of me.”
“That’s not like you though. We never go to bed right after we perform. We always stay up later. Are you sure that there is nothing wrong?”
Alex sighed. His best friend knew him too well. “I’ve just been thinking. I’m fine though. You don’t have anything to worry about.”
“Well, if you say so.” He turned to Alesia and signed to her. “Do you want to watch a movie?”
“Sure. I’ll go see if Jasmine is up. I want to hang with her.” Alex just stood there. There were so many questions in his head that he had forgotten what he was going to do. “She’s sound asleep.” Aurora came back in the front without her daughter in her arms. “I’ve never seen her so asleep. Aurora must have...”
“Aurora must have what?” Alex asked.
Alesia shook her head. “She doesn’t want any of you to know.”
“Has anyone seen my guitar?” Zack asked as he looked around some. “I was playing it this morning and left it out here.”
“It’s back in the nursery,” Alesia answered.
“I don’t remember being in there. Oh well.”
Alex turned to go to the bunks again when he remembered how tired his mind was. He opened his bunk and was about to get it when he saw something laying on the floor. With further inspection, he realized that it was the little book that he had seen Aurora writing in. He couldn’t stop himself from picking it up. His hand shook as he held it. He knew that it was wrong, but he couldn’t stop himself from opening it up.
It seemed that he was right about thinking that it was a song book. He flipped through the pages until he came to a song that seemed to catch his eye. It seemed to be a song about losing someone close to you. Although, the person was not written down. Alex couldn’t help himself. He started to read a section of the song.
I’ll never forget you,
And the way you’d sing to me when I was so blue,
I’ll keep you in my heart,
As I try to start my new life,
I wish that I could say I was sorry,
But I was too blind to see,
Perhaps this was meant to be,
If it is, I will remain silent.

Alex stopped reading after that. Did that mean that she lost someone, so she was taking a vow of silence? It seemed like it was bigger than that, but perhaps that was really all that she had gone through after all. The napoleon haired man put the book back in her bunk before getting into his.
Although he had been tired, he was unable to fall asleep. The thoughts that were making him exhausted were now the thoughts that were keeping him awake. Could the only thing that was bad that happened to her was that she lost someone close? If she lost someone, who could it have been? She might have been close to Alesia’s parents and brother. That would make sense considering how crazy her mom was and that Aurora and Alesia were so close. Alex finally let out a mental sigh before finally going to bed.
When Aurora woke up, she found her book at the feet of her bunk. She didn’t remember it being there... Her eyes became wide. What if it fell out of her bunk and someone found it? What if that person looked at it? What if they knew her secret?
Calm down.
That’s the best thing that she could do right now. There is no way that she could know if someone had read about her life or not unless someone asked her about it. Of course, the possibility that someone would ask her about it is little.
Aurora made her way out of the bunk and to the front. She found Alesia and Jack feeding eat another Cookie Crisp. Aurora loved her cousin so much, but she couldn’t help but be jealous of her. Whenever she saw them together, it was like seeing the future that she would never have. The mute girl made her way over to the fridge and grabbed a can of pop.
“Hey Aurora,” Alex said as he made his way over to the fridge that she was still standing next to.
“Hello,” she signed back.
He pulled out a Pepsi and stood on the other side of the small fridge. “Are you ok?” She nodded. “Are you sure? It looks like you have something on your mind.”
“Looks the same with you.”
“Yeah, I do have something on my mind, but I don’t feel like talking about it.”
“Same.”
“There's a problem with mine though.”
“What’s that?”
“It wouldn’t get out of my head. I went to bed early last night because it was making my brain tired, but when I tried to go to bed, I couldn’t. I’ll probably have to write a song about it. That might help me get it out.”
“Writing songs only help me for a little bit. The subject always comes back.”
“That’s too bad. I wish I could help with that.”
“You can’t though.” Aurora passed for a second before asking the question that has been eating at her. “Did you see a black book on the floor last night?”
“Yeah.” Alex wasn’t going to lie to her. “I picked it up and put it in your bunk.”
“Ok.” Aurora wasn’t a very trusting person, so she couldn’t dismiss him looking in her song book.
“Hey, Aurora.”
“Yeah?”
“I was wondering if you wanted to hang out when we have a free day. You’re always by yourself, so...”
“Sure.” Aurora immediately regretted it after she signed it. She didn’t want anyone to get close to her because they 1. might find out about her past or 2. find out that she is boring because she doesn’t talk. The look on Alex’s face made her say yes though. “What are we going to do?”
“Um, I didn’t think that far yet.”
“We could just have a fun day out. It can be just the two of us.”
“Why can’t we come,” Jack pouted.
“Why don’t you and Alesia have a day to yourself and have Zack and Rian look after Jasmine?” Alex told him.
Jack grinned. “I like the sound of that. Have fun you love birds!”

@Rae.Barakitten
When I first put my stories up, there was an option when creating a story. I've been asked this before, but when I looked to find it, it wasn't there anymore. As far as I know, they don't have the option anymore. It would be nice if it was there again since this story and another of mine need it, but sadly, it's not there.

Thanks! That's one of the best comments that I've ever gotten. As I say in real life because I'm a Japan loving anime freak. Arigatou gozaimasu!

This is so heartbreakingly perfect
@missymoo93
I'm happy you found it cute. I didn't know if it was going to be too cheesy because I'm a hopeless romantic that loves that stuff, and sometimes I think of really cheesy stuff.
Thanks!
