Star Light, Star Bright

Forever and Ever

Alex’s eyes open wide after Jack pushes him away. He stares into Jack’s eyes which might just be wider than the elders. Oh no. Alex just ruined this, didn’t he? The signs must not have been signs after all. No, they had to have been. Plus, Jack did kiss him back at first. Maybe there is just another reason why he pushed him away. There has to be, and there has to be a way to fix this. Jack shakes his head and quickly gets up. He starts speed walking out of the building. Alex runs after him after he gets out of being stunned for a bit. He catches up with him a couple feet out of the doors. He grabs his wrist. Jack stops in his tracks, but he doesn’t look back at Alex. How could he? So many thoughts are running through his head. “Jack, I’m sorry. I just thought that you wanted that.” The taller boy doesn’t say anything. “Jack, please speak to me. I need to know what you’re thinking. Would it be easier if we talked in the car?” Jack nods slightly. The birthday boy lets go of Jack’s wrist only to take his hand and lead his over to his car. He lets the younger get in first before going over to the driver’s side and getting in. They sit there or a bit. Alex doesn’t really know how to start it. He doesn’t want to make it more uncomfortable than it already is. He glances over at Jack and finds the boy twiddling his thumbs and looking out of the window. Well, he better do this before it gets any worse. “Jack, I am really sorry. It’s just that I thought that you wanted that. I’m sorry that I read you wrong. I won’t try anything again. We can just stay friends if that’s what you want.” Jack mumbles, “I’m not sure if that is what I want.” “What do you mean?” “I’m not really sure if I want to be just friends or if I wanted that kiss. I don’t understand any of this because...” “Jack, do you think that is wrong?” “Men and women always have feelings for eachother. I didn’t think that what I felt was anything like that until you kissed me. It doesn’t make any sense at all. That’s not natural.” “Yes, it is. Jack, we’re not the only one. Hell, it’s legal to marry the same sex.” Jack finally turns to look at Alex. There are tears in his eyes. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know how different this world is. It’s nothing like mine at all. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry that I didn’t realize that I liked you sooner. I’m sorry that I pushed you away. I’m too stupid to catch on.” Alex sticks his arms out. Jack falls into them as best as a person can when they’re in a car. The birthday boy rubs the teen’s back and shushes him. He tells him that it’s fine. He has nothing to be sorry about, and he’s not stupid. Alex pulls Jack away from him so he can see his face. He can’t stand to see the tears running down his cheeks. He can’t stand to see the sorrow in his large brown eyes. “You’re not stupid,” Alex whispers to him. “You’re smart. You catch on a lot faster than most would. You’re smart, cute, talented... God, you’re making me sound like such a girl, but I like you Jack. Yeah, I haven’t known you for that long, but we have been living under the same roof. I know things about you that most couples don’t find out ‘til much later. I know how you try to take all of the blankets to stay warm. I know you want a ton of sugar in your coffee because coffee is too bitter for you. I know that you’re not that trusting of people. I know that you blush whenever we hug, and I know how your eyes sparkle when you see me. Yes, I may not have known you for that long, but I know you enough to say that I liked you.” “I... I like you too, Alex.” Alex leans forward and kisses away Jack’s tears. He looks into his eyes before leaning in and giving him a short peck on the lips. The teen smiles and gives Alex one. Finally, they lean in and actually kiss each other. It’s a simple kiss. They don’t open their mouths or add tongue. They just like the feeling of their lips against each others. It’s not very long, but it was amazing for both of them. Alex and Jack smiles at each other, and the elder gives Jack a kiss on the nose. “Do you want to be my boyfriend?” “What does that mean?” “It means that we date.” “I don’t understand...” “Well, you must be before the ‘20s. Dating or going out is... It’s like.. Sort of like... It’s when two people that like each other go on ‘dates’. That means that they go out of even just hang out at home together. Couples kiss, hold hands, sometimes even more. It’s hard to explain.” “Do I have to do anything special besides kiss you and stuff like that?” “Not really. We just go out on dates. We’re in an exclusive relationship as a couple. It’s not as strong as marriage, but we are still together. Is that better?” “Yeah, and sure.” “You’ll be my boyfriend?” “Of course.” Alex smiles wide and gives Jack another quick peck on the lips. “I can’t wait to tell Rian. I talked to him about it. Oh, do you want to make the next part a date.” “Um, sure.” “Sweet. We’re going to go to the arcade. It’ll be so much fun.” Alex gives Jack one last kiss on the cheek before starting up the car. They music kicks on, and the song makes Alex smirk. He looks over at Jack and starts singing the song to him. Jack recognizes the song and finally understand what the lyrics really mean. He smiles at his new boyfriend and joins him in the chorus. “Let's go, don't wait, this night's almost over Honest, let's make this night last forever Forever and ever, let's make this last forever Forever and ever, let's make this last forever.” They just sit there and sing the entire song before Alex starts to pull out and head in the direction of the arcade. Jack hums along to the music as the birthday boy drives. Wow. He has a boyfriend now. It wasn’t even thirty minutes ago that he knew what that meant, but he is so glad that Alex is his. Alex is his. That’s what that means. It’s a lot to take in, but it’s Alex. He trust him. He’s the one that took him in when he found him on the beach. He’s the one that bought him clothes. He’s the one that fed him and let him watch Netflix. Now, he’s the one that took Jack’s first kiss. Jack remembers looking at girls, but he never saw them like the other boys did. He didn’t see anyone like that. He was so angry when he was younger. When he was fifteen, his brother and him didn’t think of anything else but that one thing. Jack can’t remember what that one thing was, but he knows that it wasn’t good. It prevented him from looking at girls like normal boys, and it prevented his brother and sister from getting married. Jack remembers that something happened when he was sixteen that didn’t give him a chance at all, but he can’t remember any of it. Although, he does remember lying to Alex about his newer flashbacks. Jack may not have any experience at all with this, but he knows that you can’t lie to your boyfriend. Alex compared this to a marriage but not as strong. Husbands and wives are not suppose to lie to each other, so he shouldn’t lie to Alex. Of course, he knows that he shouldn’t have anyway. Friends aren’t suppose to lie to each other. It’s just more serious now. What would Alex do if he find out before Jack told him? He might be so mad at him and leave him. Yes, he needs to tell Alex now. “Alex?” “Yes?” “I’ve... I’ve lied to you... about the flashbacks. I’ve... I’ve had some that I didn’t tell you about.” “I know. I can tell when you’re having one.” “Why didn’t you make me tell you?” “I knew that you would tell me when you were ready.” “Well, I’m ready now. I saw... I saw my brother and sister. They’re names were May and Joe. I didn’t want to tell you because there was something else. I don’t remember what it was, but it happened right before my fifteenth birthday. Then I remember that something happened when I was sixteen. I don’t remember what that was either, but I know that it was big. Both of those were big. If only I could remember...” “Don’t worry, Jack. You will remember, and I’ll be there for you through it all. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sad memory or a happy memory. I’ll be there for you.” “Thank you.” “We’re almost there now.” “Nice. Oh, and Alex?” “Yes?” “What’s an arcade?”

Notes

Sorry this isn't early like I wanted to. Last week, my computer wasn't working right. It's fixed now.
Anyway, I hope you liked the chapter! I sure did. It's so cute! I'm a hopeless romantic, so I love all this cheesy stuff. LOL.
