Walking in Tampa

Alex was sitting in the waiting room, nervous and scared, and of course wondering what was going on. Then he heard a familiar voice say his name and he looked up and saw Max. She smiled and looked at him.
"Thank God you’re okay" he said.
"I’m sorry, I should have looked first" she said and looked at him with guilty eyes.
"It’s okay, at least your fine and i’m definitely awake now" he teased and kissed her. She giggled and kissed him back.
"Well then, a walk through Tampa?" she asked. Alex smiled and nodded.
"What about getting something to eat?" he asked.
"Brunch?" she asked and looked at him.
"Something easy, since we’re eating with the others later" he said. She nodded and they started to look for a place to eat at.

They both had their sunglasses on, and he held her hand. Feeling her warmth from her hands, feeling ever heartbeat and feeling… how scared she was.
"Why are you scared?" he whispered and nuzzled in his nose in her hair.
"Charlie’s here" she whispered.
"What?" he asked and looked around, but he couldn’t see him.
"I saw him earlier, he was at the hospital" she said.
"Why didn’t you say something then?" Alex asked, a bit surprised.
"I didn’t want him to understand that I’ve seen him, so i played cool and now… I have no idea where he is" she said and squeezed his hand a little.
"Well I’m here, and I wont let him touch you" he said.

They ended up in a restaurant that served meat together with fresh vegetables. You could yourself pick what kind of meat you wanted and how it should be done, and then pick the vegetables you wanted. Cucumber, tomatoes, paprika, avocado, onion, salad and tons of other things. You could even pick from different kinds of fruits as well.
"I like this restaurant" Alex said and looked around.
"So do I" Max said with a laugh, and picked up some melon and placed it on her plate. Alex placed some strawberries on his, some paprika and carrots. He smiled for himself when he saw how much she had placed on her plate, and had’t even picked some meat yet.
"Easy with the vegetables, you have meat to pick as well" he teased and poked her in her ribs. She looked at him and grinned.
"I know, but everything just looks so damn good" she said. He chuckled and took her hand, and made her walk over to the barbecue stand where they prepared the meat.
"I’ll take… a beef steak" Alex said.
"hm… I think I’ll take the same" Max said.
"And marinade?" the man asked.
"I’ll take an allround" Alex said and nodded.
"And I’ll go with garlic" Max said and smiled.
"No kisses for you tonight" Alex teased and she looked at him.
"i’m gonna hunt you down and breath on you all day" she said and winked. Alex laughed and so did the man that took their order.
"I’ll give you two the same number, i’ll call it out when the meat is done" he said and handed them a small piece of paper.
"Thank you" Max said and took it.

Alex felt even better when he saw that she actually ate. She didn’t seem to be sick anymore. Maybe it was just the shock from knowing. The disgust towards your best friend. How would he react if Jack was like… expecting a kid with his mom? He shivered by the thought and hoped he never, ever, would have to see that day. Max took one last bite and then leaned back on her chair.
"With all this food I think you’ll have to roll me back" she said. Alex laughed and shook his head.
"Well I’ glad to see that you’re eating" he said and smiled. She looked at him and gave him a small smile.
"Yeah, but don’t get your hopes up. I might get sick later" she mumbled.
"It’s okay, at least your eating" he said and smiled again.

Hours later Max laid in bed and she watched Alex as he slept. She had kept all days food in and she didn’t feel sick either. Alex looked so calm and relaxed, and she just… couldn’t sleep. She sighed and got up, and walked out to the lounge of the hotel room. To her surprise Jack was there. He was watching a movie and he didn’t look tired, just alone.
"What are you watching?" Max asked, and Jack let out a small shriek. When he saw that it was jsut her he sighed in relief, and she giggled. She sat down on the couch and he made place for her, since ha was lying down.
"I’m watching some documentary about tigers" he said.
"You do know that I know that’s A Nightmare Before Christmas?" she asked and looked at him.
"Then why did you ask?" he asked and looked at her. She laughed.
"It’s called being nice, staring a conversation" she said and winked.
"Alex told me the reason you came back so fast, and… You okay?" he asked. She looked at him and then she shrugged.
"How would you react?" she asked.
"I don’t know" he said and shrugged.
"Just imagine it.. you’re mom came up to you, and told you that you’re going to have a brother, or sister, and Alex is the father. How would you react?" she asked.
"I would think that it was some sick joke" Jack said and shivered.
"In my case it isn’t… When my best friend, Bella, said that it was the father that stood by the door, and my father walked in… That was no joke" she said and stared into air. She shivered by the thought. Her best friend and her father. Together. They had sex. They’re expecting a kid. Max future sibling. Half sibling. She shivered by the thought and the sickness came back. She ran for the bathroom, hurled over the toilet and tried to hold back her hair. Everything came up, and she cried.
"I’m sorry for bringing it up" Jack said and pulled back her hair into a ponytail. From nowhere he picked out a rubber band, and put it up in a messy bun. Max was surprised he managed to do it, but he did and when he was done he stroked her back.
"Want me to get you something to drink?" he asked. She shook her head and hurled over one more time. Jack felt sorry for her.
"Want me to go get Alex?" he asked, and stroked her back again.
"Do’t wake him up, he’s so peacefully asleep" she sobbed.
"No I’m not" he said and walked into the bathroom. Jack looked up and looked at Alex, who stood there in his pajama pants. He looked tired and his hair was a bit messy.
"I woke up and wondered where you had gone, but then I knew you would be here" he said and jumped up on the sink. He prepared her toothbrush and when she was done he handed it to her with a small cup of water. She looked at him with teary eyes. He smiled, even though he was really tired.
