Touched & Attracted

Chapter 1

dislike
An attitude or a feeling of distaste or aversion: She disliked their music.

Outfit of the chapter
Maxine ALT Concert

She looked at herself in the mirror and thought that she looked okay. The really tight black jeans was really skinny and was like a second skin on around her thin legs and round bum. Max looked at herself and the really pink bandeau she had on. With a sigh she put on the really dark denim shirt and buttoned it up, not the whole way but enough to make it look like the bandeau was a tank under and not just a bandeau.
"Looks really nice" Bella, her best friend, said and winked. Max smiled and shook her head. It wasn’t anything special she said. To be honest she didn’t really wanna go to the concert but when Bella really, really, really wanted to go and needed a friend she couldn’t say no. It didn’t matter how much she disliked All Time Low. She was going, and that was the end of the story. The end. End of discussion. And even if she didn’t really like them she kinda wished to see them anyway. Especially Alex. Bella had no idea she used to know Alex and she wanted to keep it that way. She would go nuts if she knew that her best friend used to be best friend with her biggest celebrity crush.

So how come she unliked All Time Low so much, if she used to be friends with Alex? Well read it again. USED TO. She used to be friends. She was no longer. Ever since he left UK they had never spoken again, and that was the reason she really disliked him. Alex had promised that he wouldn’t lose touch and that he would try to talk to her. One way or another. But no letter came, no phone call. Not even a visit. Nothing. So Max gave up and moved on.

She reached for her black beanie to put on her head, over her long, angelic, golden curls. If Alex would see her tonight he wouldn’t recognize her at all. She used to have light brown hair that was cut in a short boyish style. Nothing fancy since she wasn’t the girly type. But over the years her hair had turned a golden brown shade and kinda curled up and became “angel hair” as her mother used to call it. But the long hair was just a way to hide one of her biggest secrets. A big scar she had on her neck. A really big scar after really hot water. Her father was preparing tea once and one time when she was about ten years old, he was disturbed by her laugh, and when she didn’t stop he burned her on her neck. Causing her to scream and cry instead, and when he realized what he had done he never touched her again. He didn’t even speak with her for months after because of the shame.

She took one last look in the mirror and smiled. Curls of an angel on her head, pale skin like the japanese dolls and then the really brownish eyes with just a small hint of green in them. She always thought she had one of those really weird appearances, but no one had ever called her ugly so she never disliked it either.
"Hey Max, are you ready?" Bella called from downstairs and she smiled.
"I’m coming, I’m coming" she said and hurried downstairs.
"Sometimes I really do wonder why I’m friends with you? But then I remember you have a good heart and not a nasty one that people that look like you usually have" she said and shook her head.
"Thanks I guess" Max answered and looked a bit confused. Bella laughed and hurried overt to the car, and the whole drive to the venue she sang really loud to the songs on Don’t Panic.

It didn’t take long before Bella was lost in the enormous crowd and Max was left behind by the door. She wondered why she had agreed to this in the first place. Slowly she scanned the area and noticed that there was a balcony with people drinking what looks like mojito’s and beer. Kids in all ages danced to the sound of the first band. Some band called Mayday Parade. They had a nice tune over their music but it wasn’t something that Max liked. Even looking at the crowd dancing made her back a few steps. It was getting hot inside and she really didn’t feel like being here. So instead of looking for Bella she just turned around and backed out to the small lounge, got back her backpack back and walked outside.
"For fuck sake, why did I come here?" Max muttered and sat down outside. She sighed and leaned against the wall to the venue, looked out over the street and heard the music from inside.
"eins, zwei… drei… vier… fünf…" she began counting, to calm herself down. She always counted in German when she wanted to calm herself down a little. When something made her angry or irritated.
"Whoa there, are you going to go nazi on the place?" someone teased and laughed. Max took a deep breath and ignored the person.
"Why are you out here and not inside?" he continued.
"Because I don’t really want to be here" she answered.
"So you are British, almost thought you were german for a second" he teased again.
"Very funny" Max said and started to get up.
"So why are you not inside? you don’t like the music?" he asked.
"Not really, Mayday Parade and Anarbor are good, or okay at least but All Time Low… Fuck no" she said. He laughed at her comment and she looked up after brushing of her bum from stones and dust. Before her stood no other than Alex himself.
"Fuck off" she said in surprised and just stared at him.
"So why don’t you like us?" Alex said with a grin.
"You want me to be honest?" Max said and crossed her arms.
"Well yeah, I wouldn’t be asking if it didn’t want to know" he shrugged and looked at her. He had no idea that it was his old friend Maxine that stood before him. No other than Maxine Clayton, the first girl he had a crush on.
"Okay, i’m going to be honest then" Max said and looked at him. She hesitated first but then she just said it.
"It’s actually because of you Alex" she said and gave him a sarcastic smile. He raised his eyebrow and looked at her.
"Because of me? But you have no idea who I am" he said and furrowed his eyebrows. A bit offended by her statement. Waiting for her next comment he crossed his arms and looked into her dark eyes.
"Forget about it" Max said and held up her hands in a "giving up"-gesture and started to walk away. Alex thought, who didn’t want her to get away just yet, grabbed her arm and pulled her back. Causing her almost buttoned up shirt to rip open and reveal a pale belly and the pink bandeau.
"Nice ink" Alex said with a grin and looked at the tattoo over her ribs. She pulled her arm out of his hand and glared at him.
"What does it say?" he asked and leaned forward to get a better look.
"Believe in love. Believe in magic. Hell, believe in Santa Clause. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don’t, who will?" she quoted and smiled as she looked at her ribs. It wasn’t the best quote but she loved it. Ever since she first had seen it she had fallen in love with it, and about two years ago she got it tattooed on her ribs.
"Would you please explain to me what you have against All Time Low, and what I’ve done to you?" he asked, and looked at her with curious eyes. He was still offended and hurt by her words, but at the same time really curious.
"Sorry Gex, but I gotta go" she said, and when she turned around she realized she had called him by his nickname from when they were best friends. A nickname only she had called him by.
"How did you know about that name?" he asked and stared at her. Really surprised. She looked at him and they stared at each other for a moment.
"Hey Alex, get your ass back here" someone called in the distance, but Alex just stared at her. Wondering who this mysterious girl was. Why she would know about a name he hadn’t heard in so many years. Then he grabbed her hands and dragged her backstage. There was just no way in hell that he would let her go without an explanation.
"Who’s the girl?" Matt asked when they reached the dressing room.
"Tie her to a fucking chair if you must, but this girl is not leaving before I get an explanation" he said and he sounded a bit pissed off.
"Excuse me? But I have a fucking life to attend to" Max snapped and looked at him. Surprised he had even dragged her backstage.
"Whoa, nice ass" Jack said and entered the dressing room. Max turned around and glared at him and he backed out again with his hands raised.
"I didn’t say anything" he said before the door closed.
"Please just wait here" Alex begged and looked at her. He looked at her with puppy eyes and she just stared at him.
"I need to find my friend, she’s out there and…" Max began.
"What’s her name?" Alex asked.
"Bella Tyler, why?" Max asked and then he hurried away, but before he left the dressing room he had Matt swear to God that he wouldn’t let her go.
"What did you say to him?" Matt asked and crossed his arms.
"That I dislike All Time Low because of him" Max sighed and sat down on one of the couches, wondering if she should try to leave or not.
