I waited… and waited. But I had no reply. My imagination went into overdrive as I rushed about the house, checking the rooms for any sign of him. What had I done? I told myself I shouldn’t have left, that whatever had happened was down to me and my stupid over-reaction. I ran up the stairs shouting for him, but still the only voice between the walls was mine. I sprinted down the hall, frantically pushing open any door I saw. I was well passed caring if whoever caused the mess downstairs found me, I just needed to find Jack. But he wasn’t there. Id looked everywhere multiple times; he was nowhere to be seen. What the fuck was I supposed to do? My phone rang.

“Rose?!” It was Alice.
“Help me, please“ I was sobbing down the phone.
“I can’t find Jack, something’s happened. The house has been trashed and he’s disappeared”
‘She’s at the house’ I heard her say, but she wasn’t speaking to me.
“Rose? Stay where you are honey, Jack’s coming back now” I heard the door swing on its hinges. I threw myself down the stairs.
“Jack?” I desperately searched for him, but I didn’t find him. I wasn’t alone anymore.
“Afraid not” Holly stepped through the door, glaring at me. I couldn’t help huff with disappointment.
“Where’s Jack?” I wasn’t interested in whatever else she had to say.
“He went looking for you. If I’m honest I don’t know what the fuss is about.” She looked me up and down.
“What the hell is your problem Holly?” I snapped.
“You.” She snapped back. I just glared at her, waiting for an explanation. Why did she have a problem with me? She had Jack and I didn’t.
“And what have I ever done to you?” I crossed my arms over my chest, sighing. Just. Leave.
“Oh, I don’t know. How about stealing my boyfriend?” I frowned at her.
“Oh, what the fuck are you talking about!” I shouted at her. She strode towards me, pushing me up against the wall. She spoke quietly in my face.
“I was going to surprise Jack, tell him I still loved him. I wasn’t expecting to have to beg. I never beg. And you. You really think that he actually loves you? He only asked you here because he thinks he owes you that much. That’s the only thing standing in-between me and him. And that doesn’t make me very happy. Look what you made me do to the lounge.” So they weren’t actually together? I couldn’t stop a smile spreading across my face at the thought. I didn’t care what she did to me now.
Her eyes narrowed and she stared me in the face for a long while before raising her arm and hitting me with the back of her hand. My cheek stung harshly and I felt blood emerge from my lip. She pushed me and I hit the floor. She picked up my bags that remained where Jack had put them an hour ago and threw them at me.
“Stop embarrassing yourself and leave!” She shouted at me. I pushed the bags aside and tried to get back on my feet. Holly caught on and hit me in my side. The door swung open, slamming into the wall.
“GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER HOLLY!” Jack’s voice filled the hallway so loud it made me jump. Holly’s head shot up to look at him. She turned away from me to face him. She laughed, dropping another bag right by my head. She slowly sauntered up to him.
“Call me when you get bored of that.” She looked at me coldly as I scrambled back up to my feet, turned and left.
