Chapter 24
“Hello?”
“Alice, thank fuck you picked up. I don’t know what to do” I could feel the tears creeping in.
“Wow wow, what’s wrong Rose?” She immediately sounded worried.
“Jack, he has a fucking girlfriend” I was desperately trying to keep it together.
“…What?!” She gasped.
“She just turned up at the house; I didn’t know what else to do so I left.”
“Where are you now?” Disbelief was clear in her voice.
“I don’t even know, just walking around. I don’t want to see him yet. I feel like such an idiot Alice”
“Don’t you dare feel stupid! I can’t believe he didn’t say anything…and the rest of the guys!” I hadn’t even thought of that. They’d all been keeping this from me.
“What am I going to do? I can’t go on tour now, I won’t be able to hack it” Tears finally beginning to stream down my cheeks.
“Whatever is going on, it needs to be sorted before you go anywhere. I mean, are you sure it was his girlfriend?”
“Yes Alice, she told me herself” I pictured her smug face in my mind; it quite literally made my blood boil.
“Shit. Did not see that coming. Looks like Jack’s got some serious explaining to do”
“I’m not sure I wanna give him the chance to explain. How quickly do you think I could get a flight home?”
“Rose, hang on, don’t be hasty. It’s a long way home. And anyway, you’re going to have to face him sometime. All of your stuff is in his house” Dammit.
“I’m going to have to go back there aren’t i?” I sighed, wiping my tears away with my sleeve.
“There’s no way around it babe.”
“Ugh…Fucking hell. What do I say Alice? What if she’s still there?” I was terrified at the thought of doing this on my own. Part of me just wanted to go back and pretend nothing had happened.
“I honestly couldn’t tell you if I tried, only you will know what to say. Just remember, you have been through a lot for Jack; you’ve got the scar to prove it. Don’t go down without a fight.”
“Thanks Alice. Wish me luck” I laughed without humour.
“Break a leg! Or even better, break Jack’s so I don’t have to.” I chuckled genuinely. We said goodbye and hung up. I took a deep breath and turned around, heading in the direction of the house.
As I walked up his drive I kept in mind what Alice had said, giving myself a prep talk internally. The door was open; I walked through and closed it softly. I was unsure what I was walking into. When I stepped into the lounge, I couldn’t comprehend what I was seeing. It was by no means in the pristine condition I had left it in. The floor was littered with broken glass. Drawers had been emptied onto the floor and pictures fallen from the wall. Something major had gone down whilst I’d been gone.
“Jack?” My shout echoed through the house. I was scared of what I was going to find.
