Time of Your Life

Laura's POV
Zack was avoiding me today. And it's really starting to piss me off. We're finally back together, and on our first day off, he can't even be bothered to say hi to me? Ugh. I mean I knew things were going to be different, but I was hoping for a better kind of different.

Tired from walking around all day searching for my boyfriend, I walk on the bus and collapse on the big chair in the lounge. My favorite spot to cuddle with Zack. It's not even the same sitting here without him. And I know how obsessive that sounds, but trust me.

And besides, I'm in love with the boy. Sighing, I reach down to pull the lever to release the recliner, but my fingers find an envelope instead. Lifting it, I see that it's adressed to me, using Zack's pet name for me. Laura-boo.

I'm glad you found us here. Come see us in the kitchen. :)
P.s. Dress nicely, not that you don't always look beautiful.
-Z

I run to my bunk, and slip on my favorite white dress with the wide brown belt, and basket wedges. It's funny, being able to do this in April. That's one of the best things about tour, I don't have to deal with Baltimore's harsh winters. I head to the kitchen. Find us. He must mean something we did together here. I remember last year, we made my favorite winter drink, wassail. It was the first time he had used the pots and pans under the stove, and actually made a drink that didn't involve alcohol.

I figure he must mean the area of storage for the pots. I had to show him where it was. I head over and open up the cabinet, finding that I'm right. Another handwritten letter awaits me.

You're so smart as well as beautiful. I knew you'd find it. Now head back to the lounge and I think you'll know what to do from there. Stick with it.
P.s. You look amazing. I know it.
-Z

Sighing at this seemingly childish game, I stomp back to the lounge, only to find a trail of rose petals. They lead outside. After I'm out of the parking lot, I see a horse-drawn carriage waiting. The person driving jumps down and grins at me. I smile back.

"Hello, Ms. Laura. It will be my pleasure this afternoon to escort you to an undisclosed location. I've been told merely to follow the rose petals, as you."

"Why thank you, Mr. Flyzik. And may I say that your gauges accompany that suit very nicely."

Matt laughs and offers me a hand up into the carriage, where I find Jack and Alex sitting, waiting for me.

"Why hello there you two."

They just smile at me and break apart so I can sit between them. They know I love sitting here.

"You guys aren't going to tell me what this is all about, are you?"

"Nope." They said.

"But I am supposed to give you this," Jack said, smiling and handing me another envelope adressed by Zack."Laura-boo"

I smack Jack and open the letter.

Thanks for making it this far. I PROMISE you, it's worth it. Smile for me.

I sigh, folding the note and putting it with the other ones. Alex won't stop giggling. Flyzik starts moving the carriage. Slowly, we approach a beach. In the distance, I can see a little table set up as well as hear a violinist playing, accompanied by a piano. It's beautiful. We get really close, and I can see Zack standing next to the table, all dressed up. He looks so handsome. No wonder I couldn't find him today, he was getting this all set up! My anger from earlier is completely gone.

We pull up next to the table, and Zack comes over to help me out. Then the carriage pulls away, heading back towards the bus. Leaving me with Zack, and the instrumentalists. When we go over to the table, he stepped behind me and pulled the chair out to allow me to sit down.

"Thank you so much, Zack. For all of it. I love you."

He smiles as he takes his place across from me. "All for you. I love you so much Laura."

I glance over at the musicians, and my jaw drops. They see it, and laugh.

Holy shit. "Zack, you got Joshua Bell and Hans Zimmer to come accompany our dinner date? You don't even like classical music."

"I know. But you do. And I heard that these dudes were pretty awesome."

"Well, yeah! They're some of the best modern day classical musicians in the world. Oh, Zack. You're amazing. Thank you." I say the last part, turning to the amused musicians, who nod their heads and continue playing.

"Good afternoon, madam, sir." Rian said, carrying a silver tray. He uncovered it to show a large plate of spaghetti. Placing it on the table, he said "Please enjoy." And with a wink at me and a knowing smile to Zack, he was off.

We barely said a word the entire meal, but that was fine by me. We were holding hands across the table, occasionally looking up and grinning at each other. Once or twice I wiped sauce off of Zack's face, which made him smile brighter than the sun. Before long, the entire plate of pasta was almost gone. I absentmindedly reached for the last noodle, at the same time as Zack. It wasn't long before our lips met in the middle.

I grinned into the kiss, biting the noodle and pulling away. He pretended to pout for a minute, before cracking up a little bit. I stood, walking over to his side of the table and sitting on his lap. I faced him.

"You still have some sauce on your lips. Let me fix that for you." I whispered in his ear, before connecting our lips. It was gentle, his hands resting on my hips, mine wrapped around his neck. I finally pulled away breathless, and he smiled before lifting me and laying me down on a beach chair facing the area where the musicians had temporarily stopped playing. He leaned down to peck my forehead like always, and then stepped over to them. Reaching under the keyboard, he produced his favorite acoustic guitar. Once he was settled, he gave a nod to the others and they played the opening chords to one of my favorite songs ever.

"Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road." It took my breath away to hear Zack singing.

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life."

When the song ends, I'm basically in tears. When he comes over to hug me, I whisper. "It is, Zack. This is the best time of my life, thanks to you."

He took my hand and sat on the beach chair next to me. We held hands and watched the sunset. Once the last hint of light was gone from the sky, I turned to him. "I love you, Zacky."

"I love you too, Laura-boo."

The perfect end to the perfect day.

Notes

I want this to happen in my life. I think I would be able to die in peace if this was true.

<3 SO MANY CUTE FEELS. Are you allowed to have major feels over your own story? I think so. At least when the main character has your first name.
