Alex's POV
So after a hug that seems like a second but is probably too long, Grace pulls away and smiles at me.
"So, uhm Grace?"
"Yeah Alex?"
"Will you like, I don't know, go on a date with me?"
She laughs. "Nope."
My jaw draps, and I can't even process what's going on. "But you said.....and I......and we....."
"Calm down Alex, you look like you're going to pass out. I'm KIDDING. You idiot." and then she hugs me. Phew.
"Hey, you really scared me there. I like you too much for that."
"Well I like you too much to actually say no, so you don't have to worry about that." She said pulling away and smiling at me, just as the door opened, revealing a grinning Jack and a none-too-happy Zack. Jack noticed how Zack looked, and elbowed him in the ribs, forcing a fake smile on to Zack's face.
Grace must have noticed too, because the next thing I know, she's moving away from me, and going to whisper something in Zack's ear. It's a pretty funny sight, little 5'2" Gracie on tiptoe while Zack the giant leans down just so she can whisper to him. She finishes talking, he nods, and then she comes down and stands next to me, giving him a severe look. Huh. I wonder what that's about.
Grace's POV
I know that look on Zack's face. Boy, is he mad. I move away from Alex, who gives me a weird look, but I give him a reassuring glance and squeeze his hand before going to talk to Zack. I whisper in his hear,
"I know you're pissed right now. I don't know why, but you've done a whole fucking lot for me, Zachary Merrick. And I'll be damned if I can't help you too. So we're going to talk later, you're going to tell me everything that's wrong, and then I'm going to help you fix it. Okay? I'm here for you Zacky."
He just nods.
