And Tell Me You Love Me

You're Just A Daydream Away

-Alex's Point of View-

I woke up alone in my bed alone the next morning, the night before being an entire haze in my mind. I didn't remember much except for the fact that I went to the bar with Jack, he didn't drink any, and he may or may not have walked me home because of my stupor.
My head was pounding as I sat up and I let out a groan before climbing out of bed and making my way to the bathroom to find the painkillers that I had kept hidden somewhere in my medicine cabinet. I didn't go out drinking that often so last night I overdid it a little bit. I didn't mean to, it just kind of happened. Jack was nice enough to pay for my drinks and I wasn't about to turn any of them down.

The only issue I had with the entire thing was that I didn't remember much. Everything about last night was a literal blur and if I tried to remember anything, it gave me a bit of a headache and I really didn't need that right now with my hangover hanging right above my head.
Like I said before, I did remember that Jack didn't drink any which I found odd. He invited me to go drinking with him because his not-named buddy was out of town, yet the only drink that I saw him touch was a Coke... On top of that, he was drinking the damn thing with a straw. That boy was just a questionable person in general.

When I had finally found the painkillers in the cabinet, I popped two out of the bottle and swallowed them dry, not caring that they kind of hung in my throat. After that, I made my way back to my room and picked up my phone that had been discarded on the bedside table last night. I unlocked it only to see that I had a text message.

Jack: I don't know how much of last night you remember, but I had a great time. We should do it again. Are you playing at the park today?

I sighed reading over the message a few times. If he said that he had a great time last night, then I must have done something right, though again, I don't remember most of it...

Alex: Yeah, I should be there at around three and I'll be there until about six.

I sent the message without second thoughts and sat the phone back down on the bedside table before crawling back into bed and pulling the blanket over my head. I still had about three hours before I technically had to get up, shower, get dressed, and prepare myself to make the journey across town to get to the park.

I hid under the blankets only to hear the phone vibrate beside me and I groaned before reaching out an arm and blindly searching for the phone. Eventually I found it and pulled it under the blankets with me and unlocking it.

Jack: Alright, cutie. I'll see you this afternoon then.

A smile spread across my lips as I locked the phone back and once again tried to remember the night before. My mind drew another blank and I just sighed before rolling over and shutting my eyes, allowing myself to catnap.

Maybe I could ask Jack later. Maybe he would remember.

~~~
"Sing me to sleep,
I'll see you in my dreams,
Waiting to say, 'I miss you, I'm so sorry.'
I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
I finished the last verse the song that I was playing only to hear the applause of the small crowd that I had been attracting. Some of them just continued to smile and clap at me while others reached down and threw their spare change into my cup that I had set out.
I glanced up at the crowd to see if the dark haired boy had arrived yet and a small smile graced my lips with I saw him staring at me with a smirk on his face as he gave me a small wave.
Some of the crowd began to clear up and he walked towards me before taking a seat beside me and glancing down at the pitiful cup that I had placed out in front of me. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, but I knew that he wanted to ask something about what exactly I was doing here, playing for strangers.
"So, is this how you make money?" He asked raising an eyebrow at me and gesturing to the guitar that I had placed in my lap.
"Yeah, I don't really have any skills to get a job, but I do have this talent that I managed to pick up at one point in my life," I said sighing, "It doesn't make much, which is a downside, but I do enjoy doing this instead of working some nine to five job sitting behind a desk."
He nodded his head as if he understood what I was talking about, but I had a feeling that he really didn't. Everyone that knew his name, knew that his father was one of the richest men in Maryland. He didn't have to get a job because he was rolling in money. Yeah, he could if he wanted, but what was the purpose? There really was none.
"Things have been hard for me since my parents moved back to Essex, which is where my brother and I spent a bit of our lives. Before they moved, I was still living in their house, borrowing money whenever I needed to get something. When they announced that they were moving away, but were leaving me with the house, I was terrified. I had never lived on my own and I was afraid that I'd end up in a situation exactly like the one that I was in right now," I said and he just stared at me with brown eyes filled with sympathy.
"Well, you won't have to worry about it anymore," he said softly and I stared at him with wide eyes.
"You don't have to do anything for me," I said shaking my head.
"I know, but I want to. A beauty like you shouldn't have to worry about living in a financial crisis," he said resting his head on my shoulder and a small smile spread across my lips.
He didn't have to do anything for me, I wasn't asking him to. Yes, I did play the pity card on him, but I didn't expect him to just sit there and say that he was going to help me out just because he thought I was good looking, which I'm not.
"Thank you, Jack," I whispered and he looked up at me with a smile.
"Anytime, Lex," he said, using a small pet name on me that caused me to blush.
He laughed and I hid my face, trying to get my cheeks to stop being so red.
Jack grabbed my chin gently and made me look into his eyes before saying, "Have I mentioned that you're adorable?"
I nodded my head and mumbled, "Only a few times."
"Well you are," he said leaning down and kissing my lips gently without warning.
His lips felt nice against mine and I felt like I had kissed him before, but I just couldn't remember it. I kissed him back, loving the way that he was so gentle. That was something that I would never expect from the taller man.
He pulled away from me and he whispered, "You're blushing again."
