And Tell Me You Love Me

How Do I Get Away?

Alex

As soon as Jack said that May wanted us to move with her, everything crossed my mind at once. I had only moved once in my life when I was young and my family wanted to come to America to Baltimore. I hadn't moved anymore since then. I had lived in this house my entire life. This was my childhood home and this held almost every single memory possible.
If I just left it all... There would just be a huge chunk of my life missing. Yes, I wanted Jack in my life, but at the same time, going with him and May might just cause a few consequences.

"Ever since we came over here, I've lived in this house," I said, gesturing to the house surrounding us.

"You don't really want to leave it, do you?" He asked, his eyes holding worry in them.

"There's just so much here. I don't want to leave, but at the same time, I don't want to have you run off on me again. I want to stay by your side Jack. I love you," I said as a smile spread across his lips and he leaned over and kissed me gently.

"I love you too Lex, but I'm not about to make you leave your childhood behind because of me. I'm not worth that. If you probably stay here also, you'll find someone to be a lot happier with. I'm just a rich troublemaker," he said, chuckling softly, but his eyes held complete seriousness.

"You're my rich troublemaker though. Jack, I'm happiest with you. I thought that I was doomed to be alone and lost forever, but as soon as I found you, a path opened up for me and I felt like everything was bright and cheery once again. I want you in my life, Jack. No one else can match up to you, love," I said kissing his forehead and he smiled.

"At least I mean something to you," he said and I nodded my head.

"I really just want to stay here forever, but shouldn't we go see May and figure out where exactly we're going to end up?" I asked and he nodded before slipping out of my arms and out of the bed. I joined him, searching for my clothes that were scattered around the room.

I could hear Jack laughing behind me and I heard him say, "Nice ass, Alex."

"What the unholy hell happened to you two?" May asked, eyeing the two of us. Jack's arm was wrapped around my shoulder as we sat in a booth at a small local restaurant. We wanted to go somewhere where we wouldn't draw a whole bunch of attention to ourselves, but we seemed to be doing the opposite of that since two of the Barakat siblings seems to be well known by the owners.

I just looked at her and a small blush formed on my cheeks before her eyes widened and she muttered, "Never mind. I think I can take a guess from the purple bruises on both of your necks and given the fact that Alex makes a face every single time he has to stand up and start walking."

Jack and I laughed and I reached up and gave him a small kiss before looking back to May.

"So, Jack told me that you wanted to move. Is there any place that you had in mind?" I asked and she sat there and thought for a moment, her eyes staring down at the wooden table in front of us.

"Literally, I just want to get away from here. I'm done with my parents. I don't know if Jack ever told you this, but-" She began, but she quickly shut up when the waitress came up to us, a pen and pad in hand and a bright cheery smile sitting on her aged face.

"It's a surprise to see you two here. I thought you would at least bring your father or mother," the waitress said, directing her words towards May and Jack.

"They were busy and they're not really ones for eating out a small places," May said, truth in her words as the waitress' face fell slightly.

"Well what could I get you all?" She asked.

"I just want a slice of apple pie," I said softly and she glanced at me like she hadn't noticed me before.

"Is that all?"

"For now," Jack said and she just sighed and walked off, going to put my order in.

"Now what were you saying, May?" I asked, looking at her once again and she leaned across the table before whispering, "I don't know if Jack told you or not, but my parents let the money get to their head. My mother is into heavy drugs and my father is an alcoholic. They don't accept much of what we really do and slowly, us children are beginning to leave, taking our shares of the money and just disappearing. The only reason why I've stayed as long as I have is because I take care of both of my parents when they come down from the unnatural highs."

I stared at Jack. I knew that May had to nurse her father's hangovers quite a bit, but I never knew that it had to deal with that. He had never told me about how his parents actually were. Actually, he had kept most of his home life hidden from me.

That also explains why he asked me to the bar and ended up not drinking anything...

"Who all has left already?" I asked, knowing that they had two more siblings.

"Joe left because our father had a drunken fit and ended up giving him a black eye. Jack left right after Leeyh found out that he was gay and told the family. Leeyh has gone slightly insane, but I know that he has plans to move out in the next few weeks, but I'm the only one left. I'm the only one who stays at home long enough to see my parents destroy themselves," May said, tears beginning to rim her beautiful brown eyes.

"Don't cry, May. Please, don't cry. You'll make me cry," Jack said, a sad expression crossing his lips as he stared at his older sister.

"Sorry, Jacky," she whispered softly, wiping her eyes.

There was a small pause before Jack sighed and said, "Is there any specific place you want to go. Any restrictions?"

May just shook her head and just whispered, "I want to get away to somewhere where nobody will recognize my face unless I tell them my name. I just want to be able to have some peace and quiet for once in my life."

I sat there for a moment before thinking about all the places that we could go. We didn't have a limited supply of money, given the fact that I had to industry heirs sitting right in front of me. There were many places, but that's when it hit me.

"I may be able to keep a bit of my childhood without leaving here," I said and Jack looked over at me with a slightly confused expression.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Is England far enough?" I said and a smile spread across his lips.
