Love Feels Like War

This Could Be a Problem

Jack’s P.O.V.

We finally made it to the venue and LLC were busy with their sound check, meaning I had nothing else better to do. I decided to go walking around and see if I run into anybody. When I stepped off the bus, I immediately ran into Rian.

"Oh hey, bro" I said as I shut the door behind me.

“Hey, you know I just saw Nick. I’m guessing that she’s done with her sound check." Rian said as he gestured for me to move out of his way so he could get on the bus. "Besides, I think she may be a little more interesting to talk to. Didn't you say she was going to teach you how to windmill?"

“Yeah, she did. Do you think you could grab my guitar for me?”

“Yeah, hold on." After he made his way into the bus I heard a lot of rustling around when finally he came back with my guitar. "Here you go, Ah, there she is now."

I hurriedly grabbed my instrument from Rian and ran over to her calling, "Hey Nicky, are you ready for our lesson?"

“Oh yeah, let's go over in the grass behind the stage, that way if you drop your guitar it won't get too much damage." She suggests as she walked in front of me with a bright smile on her face.

I couldn't help but look at her ass. It was so small but it was still nice and bubbly. I wanted to smack it, but I resisted. Her curly, brown hair went down to where it was almost touching the small of her back. I had to fight to keep my eyes straight ahead. I glanced out of the corner of my eye to find Zack chuckling at me. I grinned and stuck my tongue out at him.

When we got over to the grass she began the instructions. "Okay, so a lot of the force that it takes to spin the guitar around your body needs to be put on the neck and on the bottom of the body itself."

After she explained it she then demonstrated it. She made it look so easy, it just glided out of her hands, around her small figure, and back into her graceful grasp. The strap caused her perfect hair to fall over to one shoulder. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her.

"Do you think you got it?" She giggled.

I cleared my throat and couldn't help but feel a little over confident. How hard could this be?

'Just spin it around, Jack.' I tell myself.

She stepped back a few steps to give me some room.

“Try swinging your body a little to give it more momentum," She suggested.

“I got this, I’m a fast learner, believe it or not." I reassured her.

She giggled before rolling her eyes. “Whatever you say."

I swung my body to the right bringing the guitar with me, when I swung to the left and forced it to swing up, attempting to make it spin around my body. My right arm flung out of my strap, causing the strap to wrap around my neck and choke me. The neck of the guitar them came from behind me, in between my legs and hit me square it my balls.

"Shit! Fuck! My... My... Holy fuck!" I screeched falling to the ground and pulling the guitar off of my neck.

“Oh my god! Are you okay?" A laughing Nicky asked as she leaned over me.

"I mean, I was just kicked in the fucking balls by my guitar." I groaned.

Soon I saw her fall to the ground next to me dying from laughter.

“You should have seen your face!" She yelled.

If her laughter wasn't so cute and if she wasn't a girl, I probably would have kicked her in the dick. I felt the pain ease up after a long 5 minutes and finally picked up my guitar and stood up.

“So, are you going to get up and show me again or are you just going to lay there and make fun of me?" I pouted. I watched her as she stood up, flipping her hair back, almost like a model and she giggled as she caught me staring. I quickly shook my head trying to bring myself back to reality. "You know, Nick, you're adorable."

“Adorable, huh?" She questioned trying to hide her dislike for what I just said. "I didn't think you thought I was just adorable when you were staring at my ass on our way over here."

“Well, for the record Ms. Nicky King, you have an extremely adorable ass... almost slap worthy," I say as I wink at her playfully, trying to hide my embarrassment. Her cheeks turned cherry red and her jaw dropped a little, before she quickly took control of her emotions. I chuckled, "Is there a problem?"

“Oh not at all, but I think you may have a problem." She grinned. A sexy grin at that.

I then returned my signature, smoldering smile. "Oh? And what would that be?"

She looked me up and down and then stepped closer, pulling my shirt so that I could lean down to where her mouth was next to me ear. "Well, Mr. Jacky Barakat... your fly is open."

She nearly fell to the ground with laughter once again, as I quickly pulled my zipper up and I felt my cheeks burn with humiliation.

'What the fuck, Jack!' I shouted at myself.

“Okay... okay, very funny. You can get up now." I said with a roll of my eyes and when she finally stopped giggling, I had an idea. "Hey! You know how I make keek videos?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you mind if I make one of you showing me how to do this?"

“Let's do it!" She cheered with a grin.

I brought my phone out and pulled up keek, pressing record.

"Hello ladies and genitals! Jack here, and I'm with the one and only Nicky King from Lost Love Crisis, and this doll is going to show me how to do a windmill! Care to demonstrate for these lovely people?" I ask Nick as I pointed the camera in her direction.

“It would be my pleasure." She agreed and demonstrated once again, just as beautifully as last time and finished with a no-handed cartwheel.

"Show off!" And just before I ended the video she winked. I laughed at that, "Nice touch."

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

“You're one cocky mother fucker, aren't you?"

"Takes one to know one." she said under her breath.

"What was that? Huh?" I teased.

“I don't know," She said I creeped closer to her. "What are you doing?" Not giving her time to run I grabbed her and started tickling her sides making her flail her arms and scream in protest. "Jack! No! I'm going to drop my guitar!”

"Hey! Hey! Guys!" I heard someone yell. I stopped immediately and turned around.

It was Ashley.

“Hey, Ash. What's up?"

"You're needed for your sound check." She said sharply.

"Oh, thanks Ash." I turned my attention to Nick, "Can we continue this later?"

"Yeah, man. Later it is," She nodded with a bright smile, then gave Ashley a death glare a second later. That isn’t good.

I walked away, looking back at them periodically. "What the fuck is going on with them?"

Ashley's P.O.V.

"One, two! Hey! Devin and Lime bean are my bitches!" I shouted into the mic, deeming it ready for the show.

My two band mates that I had been speaking of glared at me, giving me the finger. I just laughed, shaking my head as I stepped off the stage. Liam looked like he was ready to kill me, but before he could say or do anything Alex rushed over to me.

"Hey Ash, could you go find Jack for me? Shay said the last time she saw him was with Nicole. We need to hurry up with his sound check."

I nodded, trying to mask my jealousy as I went on my search. I finally found him just as Alex had said, with Nick. He was in the process of tickling her and all she could do was laugh and scream at him, there was no way she could get out of his arms since she was so tiny compared to him.

I was nearly choking on my emotions as I yelled out, "Hey! Hey! Guys!"

Jack quickly dropped his arms and turned to face me, "Hey, Ash. What's up?"

"You're needed for your sound check." I tell him, unable to keep the edge out of my tone.

"Oh, thanks." He says before turning to say something to Nick.

She responded with a smile before giving me one of her death glares and I could only roll my eyes. Does she seriously think that was on purpose? It's not my fault they can't keep their hands off each other for five minutes.

Before she could say anything to me I walked away muttering, "I'm going for a walk."

I groaned out loud once I was alone and raked my hands across my face. Why do I even bother? It's clear that Jack is never going to like me. I mean every guy I've ever wanted hasn't. I have always been just another step for someone to climb.

As I passed All Time Low's bus I noticed Alex in the window right as he saw me and a concerned look took over his features. I decided that I didn't need to drag Alex into my pity party, so I kept walking. A minute later I felt the soft drips of rain beginning to hit my face and arms, but I couldn't seem to make myself care enough to head somewhere dry. As my luck would have it that's when it started to pour. In the matter of seconds my shirt was soaked through and my hair became limp and frizzy, this day just kept getting worse.

Right when I was about to leave the venue's parking lot I heard splashing behind me and suddenly I didn't feel the rain hitting me anymore. I looked up and over my head was a blue umbrella, holding it was a drenched Alex.

“Where are you going?" He questioned as he kept the same pace as me, let's just say I wasn't being slow.

"I'm just trying to clear my head."

"Jack and Nicole's flirting bugging you again?"

I stumbled slightly at that. "W-what?"

He sighed softly, "Ashley, it's kind of obvious you like Jack. At least to me it is."

I couldn't stop myself from frowning slightly and I wondered why he sounded so sad.

“Oh.” Was all I managed to say. I sighed as we came back around the building, "I guess it's about time I learned my lesson."

He rose an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

“Every guy I want, wants my best friend and I don't blame them honestly. She's a fantastic person, even if she doesn't see it herself all the time. The first guy I really ever loved used me to get to her. She hated him anyway and that meant his whole plan had failed, so too bad for him."

“Are you talking about that Chris guy you dated?"

I nodded, biting at my lip over the sour memories before speaking, “His band had been my other favorite, next to yours of course."

He shrugged and waited for me to continue.

“He found out that I had a crush on him. I guess I am painfully obvious when it comes to that, so he pulled me in and we dated. I just fell way too fast and then he dropped me like a piece of trash the second he thought he had a chance with Nicole. He put up a great act honestly, promised me things, made me feel safe and loved. That's basically why I can't trust singers, they all seem the same." I shook my head muttering, "I don't know why I'm telling you all this."

He smiled lightly, "It's alright, I don't mind to listen to you at all."

I couldn't stop myself from returning the smile, "Thanks Alex."

At this point the rain had finally stopped and he placed a hand on my arm telling me, "You'll find a guy soon enough. One that's only going to want you and no one else, I promise. You've just got to keep your eyes open for him because he might be closer than you think."

With that he closed his umbrella and headed back to his bus. Could Alex Gaskarth be that guy? I honestly doubt it, but I can't seem to make myself quit wishing he was.

Nicole’s P.O.V.

Trying to forget what happened with me and Ashley, I stayed where I was and just sat on the ground and strummed my guitar. I don't know what her problem is! God forbid I teach Jack how to do a windmill and we end up teasing each other. Why doesn't she realize that she can get any guy she wants, why does she have to go for Jack? She likes Alex by now anyways, right?

You just don't flirt with someone at Waffle House and just drop them like that. Her and Alex would be perfect together anyways! The last guys that I genuinely had feelings for was Ricky and that was two years ago, and before him I had only dated two other guys. I just want this all to be over with.

“Nick, are you about ready for the show? You're on in thirty minutes," Shaylynn said walking over to me.

“Yeah, I guess I should go get ready. Thanks girl." I smiled and then ask, "Do you want to come with me? Maybe have some girl time? I know you're stuck with all those boys all the time, sometimes every girl needs... girls."

"Sure, I'd love that." She agreed with a laugh as we went to the LLC bus.

It was finally time for the show and we were all ready to go.

"Can we talk later?" I asked Ashley before stepping out on stage.

She gave me a cold stare and walked out with no response, giving her full attention to the crowd.

“How is everybody doing tonight?" She yelled out and the crowd roared.
"Awesome! Well I'm Ashley Cross and we are Lost Love Crisis!" She shouts her signature opening and we burst out into our first song.

Our set was finally over, and the crowd was screaming. I was starting to relax, thinking that at least our show had gone by without any issues, but my ease was short lived. Ash put her index finger over her lips, waiting for the audience to quiet down.

“I’m sorry, I didn't formally introduce my band mates!"

What is she doing?’ I found myself wondering.

“This is Bree, the amazing pianist. Devin, possibly the greatest drummer of all time. Liam, the best bass player in the history of the world!" The she finally got to me. "And Nicole... yeah."

'Really? What the fuck? You know what fuck this!'

"And Ashley Cross!" I yelled into my mic, "One of the most..." Ashley grinned, I guess thinking I was going to be nice, "one of the pettiest, most impossible to satisfy, and dramatic lead singers in the game!"

I dropped my microphone on the stage, clapped slowly for a moment, and then walked off.

I could hear the crowd screaming and calling as I went, but I couldn’t even stay for them right now. I was half way to the bus when I heard Ashley screaming and people running after us.

"Nick! What the fuck was that?" She demanded, looking both furious and embarrassed at the same time.

“You know exactly what that was! How could you do that! Those fans are mine too, you can't just make me look like an ass in front of them! What the fuck were you thinking? Not everything is yours, Ashley. Not the fans, not every single guy, but you don’t care do you? If you aren’t happy, then no one else is allowed to be, right?”

“Oh sure, like that always happens. Last time I checked, you were the one that the fans were the most fond of, but what the fuck do I know? God forbid, anyone says anything that seems to be even remotely against you, because you just love to play the victim! Plus, I barely have anything to do with half of the guys around me, which is something you can’t say. But the whole world would go off its axis if I pointed those things out, right?"

At this point Jack, Rian, and Alex were around us, listening.

“That's what this is about? Really, Ash? It’s over a fucking boy? If I've 'gotten all the attention' then I'm sorry. You can have it... fuck... you can have all the guys that I supposedly have too, for all I fucking care!" I screamed. "Why can't you open your eyes enough to see what's right fucking in front of you?"

I took a step closer to her. "You're gorgeous, funny, confident, everything a guy dreams about and you're mad because I have my eye on one guy that you just suddenly so happen to like? One fucking guy?"

“Nick, it's about the fact that you are all those things too! What sucks the most is that you could get him at the snap of your finger, but you don't! Why? Do you want to see me upset? Because you are constantly back and forth with him and I can’t tell whether or not I should give up trying to pursue him. I was never trying to hurt to you, but I don’t know if the same can be said for you. It’s like the second you notice that I think I might have a chance to even speak to him, suddenly your all over him again! That seems like you’re doing it on purpose. Of all the people to want to hurt me, I never thought it would be you!"

“You have got to be fucking kidding me! I'm not purposely hurting you, I'm just..."

"Stop! Who is this guy you two are bitching about?" Rian interrupts.

At this point I didn't care anymore. I'm not holding back anymore.

“Jack!" Ash and I both screamed at the same time.

I begin to storm away, I didn't want to look at her, be around her, or talk to her at this point. I was totally done, but I had one last thing to say.

"Oh and Ashley... looks like you're going to need a new guitarist. I quit."

Alex’s P.O.V.

I couldn't believe my ears, did Nicole seriously just say she quit Lost Love Crisis? I shook my head slightly, hoping that I was somehow dreaming. No, unfortunately, I was very much awake and Ashley looked like she was on the verge of crying. Nick was already far away from Ashley and me, while Jack and Rian were chasing after her, calling out her name.

“W-why did I do that?" Ashley whimpered, wrapping her arms around her frame, "I know b-better than to do anything when I'm mad. I always do something horrible and now I've ruined my band. I've destroyed my friend's dream."

After her statement she broke down sobbing, bending over slightly as she did. I quickly rushed over to her, throwing my arms around her shaking body and pulled her against my chest.

I gently stroked my fingers through her hair murmuring, "Shh, hey it's going to be alright. Nicole is just heated right now, you know how much this band means to her. You're her best friend, she’ll forgive you."

“But what if she doesn't, Alex? What do I do then? I can't find another guitarist like her! I don't want to!"

"If that's how things play out, I'll help you figure it out from there, okay?"

She nodded against my collar bone, while allowing her fingers to dig slightly into the fabric of my t-shirt. It was nice to have her cling to me this way, I just wish it wasn't caused by sadness.

“Come on, you need to sit down for a bit. Let's head to my bus." I tell her as I guide her in that direction.

She straightened up for a moment as we walked, but she still looked like she could burst into tears at any given second. Once inside, I made her sit down on the couch and gave her a water bottle. She quietly thanked me before twisting the cap off and taking a few sips.

"Where did Rian and Jack go?"

“Probably to talk to Nick or to the stage and I need to be heading that way too. I want you to stay here and wait for me to come back, alright?"

She nodded, her expression still dark as she pulled her knees up to her chest and wound her arms around them. My heart ached at the sight and every fiber of me just wanted to stay right there with her, but I knew I still had a performance to take care of. I moved over to where she sat and lifted her chin so I could look in her eyes, even when they were full of tears they were beautiful.

“I’ll be right back after the show. I promise I won't waste a single second." With that I gingerly pressed my lips to her forehead and she surprised me when I felt her hand snatch up mine.

“Alex..." She began and she seemed to be struggling with something.

The closeness of our face's made me have a conflict all of my own, one that fought to resist the urge to kiss her because now definitely wasn't a good time.

“Yeah?" I asked trying to keep my tone of voice as steady as possible.

Whatever she had planned to say she must have decided to keep to herself as she shook her head, "Thank you for everything."

I nodded and squeezed her hand softly before hurrying off the tour bus, so I wouldn't be late for the show. Once I was at the stage I saw Rian and Zack waiting for me, but no Jack.

“I left him with Nicole and told him to hurry the hell up."

I groaned, "You should have just dragged him out of there, we don't have time for this!"

"Sorry bro, but you know how stubborn he gets."

I raked a hand through my hair and pulled out my phone to see that we only had about four minutes before we needed to head on stage. I literally was about to scream when I check the time again to see that it was down to two minutes.

“Let’s do this boys!" Jack's voice suddenly shouts from behind me as he adjusted his guitar strap.

"What took you so long?" Zack asked.

“Just had to straighten some things out with my lady."

Rian rose an eyebrow, "You guys a thing now?"

"Nope, but it's gonna happen soon. I can feel it."

“What did you do?" I asked, jumping into the conversation.

"I convinced her to think things over, that she needed to sleep on it before she actually made up her mind."

Before any of us could say another word, Vinny was shouting that we needed to take the stage now and as much as I tried to get lost in the performance my mind kept drifting back to one sweet girl on my band's bus.

Notes

Well, hello strangers! I know its literally been years since I've posted on this story, but I forgot it even existed! I'm so sorry! Well, here is the newest chapter that my friend and I wrote a long time ago, so from now on it's just going to be me because I don't think she's into writing anymore sadly.

I'm mostly writing this now because it's very different than most of the other things I've written, seeing that this story is solely character driven. So, this is sort of like a fun challenge for myself! I can't wait to see where it goes now!

And if this story is new to you, I hope you like it! :)
