You Burned Out

Chapter 2.

Jessie's POV

I turned down Blink that was blasting out of the stereo and listened carefully to make sure the doorbell did ring. Sure enough, a few seconds later the shrill dinging rang through the house a second time. I snatched $20 off the kitchen bench and headed to the front door. I shrugged off the fact that I was only wearing an oversized grey shirt that fell mid-thigh, I'm sure it would bring some excitement to the poor pizza guy's day. I swung open the door only to find it wasn't the pepperoni pizza I had ordered half an hour ago.

My heart skipped a beat as I half shut the door, hiding myself behind it with only my head poking around. "Alex, what the fuck?"
"So you like Blink?" he said cooly.
"How do you know where I live?!" I frowned at him.
"Uh, pretty sure I came here for like, your twelfth birthday party or something?"
"Oh, right…" I mumbled as I felt my cheeks burn. I shook my head and cleared my throat. "Why are you here?" I said a little too harshly.
"Mrs W is a bitch, we have to do an assignment together…"
I processed the situation for a moment and sighed, rolling my eyes as I gestured for him to come inside, pulling the hem of my shirt down and ushering him along as he sneakily eyed off my bare legs.

Alex's POV

Two hours later we found ourselves sat cross legged on her bedroom floor with assignment sheets, books and a pizza box spread around us.
"I really want to see Blink live one day though."
"I totally would have picked you to be more of a Britney Spears or Usher type of girl to be honest…" I said before taking a bite of the last slice of pizza.
"Fuck that," she said as she scribbled something down from a book on a piece of paper.
"Don't your friends listen to that stuff though?"
"Alex, enough about my friends! Jesus Christ..." She snapped at me and slammed the notebook shut.
I frowned and looked over at her. That hard bitch stare was back in her eyes, the one that had actually started to soften slightly in the second hour we spent together.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…" I decided to shut my mouth for a moment, picking up a textbook.
She sighed and leaned her head against the edge of her bed. "Actually, no," I started again. "What's with this whole bitch facade?"
Her eyes shot open and she straightened up. "What are you talking about?" She said in that fake, put-on tone.
I raised my eyebrows. "From just spending two hours with you now, I think you know what the fuck I'm talking about."
She went to say something smart back but she stopped herself. Placing her forehead in her hands, she sunk back against the side of the bed. She shrugged. Her eyes looked sad and all I wanted to do was hug her. "High school's a bitch, basically," she started. "Do you think I would have the respect I do at school if I was like who I am right this second? No. I mean, look at you, Alex. You get picked on by girls. Girls like… Me."
"Yeah but I don't give a fuck?"
"And I do. Girls are bitches. You get on the wrong side and you're fucked for the rest of the school year." I nodded slowly in agreement. "Why do you think I skip school as often as I can?"
"Where are you parents?"
"Away, for work. They're back tomorrow. Can't make me go if they're not here," she said matter-of-factly.
"Are your friends all like this too?"
She shook her head. "No way. They're actually bitches. I can't stand them half the time. I just…" She sighed. "Never mind."
"No, tell me," I said quietly. "Please?" I had never seen this side of her before. All I knew was the make-up and the short skirts and the heels and the death glares that were always shot across the classroom and hallways.
"It… It kills me being the way I am towards you at school. I'm sorry. For all I've put you through. For all those times I watched you get beat up by half the football team."
It had never affected me all that much really, Jack and I always laughed about black eyes and getting in trouble for being cheeky. "Jess, I don't care-"
"I do, Alex," she blurted out. "I care."
"Why?" I whispered, my eyebrows creasing, waiting for her to look up at me.

Seconds went by, then suddenly, her lips were on mine. I couldn't breathe, it was like the wind was knocked out of me. I had watched these lips so closely many times in class, gladly not listening to the teachers droning voice in the background, imagining what they would feel like against mine. And now, I didn't have to imagine anymore. She didn't pull back and apologise either. Kiss after kiss, hands grasping at each other. In minutes we were both half naked on the floor.

Okay, so, I'm amazed that you came back to your story. Because usually no one ever does after it's been so long.
Apologies it took me like over a month to comment on your new update; life has been kind of hectic for me. But, like I apparently commented two years ago, I'm still here, lol. It just might take me a while to comment sometimes. XD
I had to reread since it's been a minute, but thankfully it wasn't much to catch up with. I'm still interested in seeing where this story goes, if you find the inspiration to write more.
Glad to see you found some inspiration to write again, though, even if it was just for one update.
So, yeah. I'll be around if you still find yourself writing. :)

Same with this story. I'll be here if you ever choose to pick it up again.
The plot line has me interested with just the two chapters you've posted. It would be awesome to one day see more. :)
