Wrong Place, Wrong Time...
The Chapter That Doesn't Have A Name
Jack’s POV
I come out of my last class with Rian and head to my locker. As Rian and I go separate ways to our lockers, I see Sam surrounded by a bunch of sluts.
No. This will not happen. Not while I'm alive.
I quickly run up to the poor, helpless girl surrounded by the mob of sluts (haha...) and push the aside.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" I shout. They all roll their eyes. "Get away. Don't you think she's been through enough shit already?"
"Just because you guys say that happened doesn't mean it's true." Gretchen, one of the illogical sluts, says.
"Hell it is true. If it wasn't why would I be saying it?" I ask. She just rolls her eyes once again. "Fuck off or I can come up with some dirty shit to tell your little boyfriend."
"Yeah? Like what?"
"That you fucked his best friend." I say. Her face turns red and I smirk. "I'm not clueless you know." She glares and me and walks off, her friends following behind.
"Thanks, Jack." Sam says, shyly. I smile.
"What are friends for?" I ask.
"Haven't you and Alex saved my ass enough times today though?" She asks.
Smiling, I reply, "Again, what are friends for?" I ask. She smiles and hugs me before we head to our lockers.
Alex and Zack come up behind me and poke my sides. I flail my arms messing up my combination and then glare at them.
"Jeez. The death glare." Zack says, backing up. I roll my eyes.
"Taze me again and that won't be the only thing I'll do." I threaten.
"Damn, what's got you mad?" Alex asks, leaning against the locker next to mine.
"Stupid girls who decided to pick on Sam again." I mutter.
"Poor girl." Alex sighs. I nod. "When will they leave her alone?"
"I don't know." I sigh. Sam comes down the hallway looking down, ear buds in her ears.
Kids are pointing at her, whispering and laughing. A pained expression shows on my face as she looks up.
"Are you okay?" She asks, pulling out an ear buds. I shrug.
"It's more like are you okay?" I ask. She nods, shrugs and then looks down, shaking her head. I hug her and she does the same.
"It should blow over soon."
"Are you sure?" She asks. I look to Alex.
"Yeah. This happened to me once. Took a while, but people forgot about me and now they don't care. People thought I was a freak who always had anxiety attacks."
"But you're not a freak." Sam says.
"We all love him." Zack laughs. We all smile and pat Alex's back even though I can completely tell that he's having flashbacks about what kids used to do to him.
We all head home and Sam comes home with me. She goes up to her room and slams her door. I set my backpack on the couch and walk into the kitchen.
My mom is making dinner and my dad is reading tr paper at the counter.
"How school?" My dad asks. I shrug. "Sam's?"
"Not so good." I sigh. "I came out of last class and saw her surrounded by..." I trail off trying to figure out the right word for the girls without getting in trouble. "Snotty girls."
"What did you do?"
"Stood up for her. Everyone was pointing at her, whispering, laughing, making stupid comments and spreading rumors." I explain.
"Keep helping her." My mom says.
"She's like my sister. There's no way I'll stop trying to help her." I say. "I'm going to do homework."
I run upstairs and hear crying coming from Sam's room. I open the door and see Sam sitting on her bed, makeup running all over her face, her eyes red and puffy.
I walk over to her and hug her.
I can't imagine being her right now.
