Alex Gaskarth walked into the party. He looked around and saw a chestnut haired girl sitting on a couch with a guy he knew from parties.

But he didn't recognize her.

He walked over just as they were getting up. He overheard the guy talk about smoking some weed, so Alex steered clear of them. But he did walk outside, and sat on the old swing set.

Was it his fault that the swing set was a few yards away, and he could make them out perfectly?

He watched as the girl took a drag of the blunt, and then pass it to the guy on her left He then passed it to the guy in front-of them. After they had passed it back and forth for a bit,he overheard her saying she didn't want anymore because it was getting too short and burning her fingers.

"Shotgun with me then." the guy in front of her said.

Alex saw him take a hit then put the burning end in his mouth and she leaned forward and took a hit. From where he was sitting, it looked like they were kissing.

Alex was wondering who the girl was. He was a frequent partier and he thought he'd recognize anyone at a party around here. He kept his eyes on her and he laughed to himself because he heard the threesome talking about video games. They got up and went into the house. The tallest didn't seem to notice the chill in the night air, but the girl and the other guy were shivering. It was then that Alex saw her wearing the hoodie the guy she had shotgunned with.

"You're cold, let me give you back your hoodie."

"No, no it's cool. Look, dude, we're going inside." she smiled and nodded and they walked inside.

Alex stayed outside, sipping his beer. He looked up and then he heard his name called. He looked over and there stood his best friend, Jack Barakat. Next to him stood his girlfriend, Amanda. She was holding two cups, and Jack had none. Alex laughed, she was probably holding his because he'd spill it otherwise. He got off of his swing and walked over to the couple.

"Do you know who that girl is? The one who just walked in with those two guy?" Alex asked the two of them. Jack only laughed. Amanda rolled her eyes at her boyfriend, and turned to Alex.

"Yeah. Her name is Sydney Maxwell. She used to go to our school. But then she dropped out and became home-schooled. I think she's telling everyone that she's coming back though."

"She used to go to our school?" Alex questioned. He thought he'd remember a girl like that.

Amanda nodded and then handed a cup to Jack. He took a gulp, and then dropped the empty cup onto the ground.

"Yeah. Actually, I think she was in your English class. Sat right next to you."

Alex's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. He tried to remember her. He thought to who he sat next to in English. Last year is was a girl named Nina. He thought back to his sophomore year, no he had sat next to a guy. His freshman year there was a bottle blonde for about two months, and then it was empty for the rest of the year. He looked at Amanda.

"Did she used to have realllly blonde hair?" Amanda bit her lip and then took a sip of her coke. Her eyes widened.

"Yep. But she stopped dyeing it when she left. She told me that it was just too much."

Alex looked at her funny. She laughed.

"She used to come in all the time at the store. I'd talk to her while she bought her stuff."

Alex thought for a moment.

"Wait...didn't she date that one guy....Daniel?"

Amanda nodded.

"Yeah. That's why she left. They broke up and he started to spread shit about her. Now that he's gone, she's coming back."

Alex felt a plan formulating.

He planned on getting to know her.
