Gustav’s POV

"Tis time my dear boy. Go, fetch," his cold voice barked out at me. I flinched slightly but stood my ground. Today was the day. I would finally get revenge on the girl who ruined my life, who passed along this curse.

I sped past the master and out the door. The backpack filled with supplies hung from my shoulders. I had to find a place to hide out in the states because there was no way I was staying at a hotel, no, she'd find me easily. And if she found me she could run.

I reached the edge of the giant body of water that would lead me to my destination. Without a second thought I dove into the icy cold water, not even feeling the drop in temperature. My body shot through it like a bullet. My sense became duller and duller as the temperature of my body matched that of the water. I was still going unbelievably fast so thankfully no one would see me even if they stared at the water intently. I was completely and utterly hidden. Just like I had been for the past four years. No one knew I was still alive. My family, my friends even...she thought I was dead , buried in a kingdom two foot wide and six foot deep.

But I was far from dead. Actually...I've never felt more alive. I no longer had to actually buy things for myself anymore. I could dart in of the convenient store, steal whatever I needed and be out before anyone could even bat a lash. I was taller, slimmer than I was before. My fair hair became a stark white with the change. My baby blue eyes became clearer, almost a dull grey. The light pink lips I owned were completely gone, replaced with almost red colored lips. I no longer had the baby chub I used to possess. My jaw was straight and strong. I was incredibly fast now but I didn’t ever run out of breath, I could run for miles and miles without getting exhausted or winded. To put it in short terms…I was a better human being than everyone. No I was the best thing that ever walked this Earth. And I was proud as hell.

Once I resurfaced from the cold depths of the ocean I found myself on the grounds of Maryland. The fresh air hit my face but I couldn’t feel the temperature of the weather around me. There was a slight rain but I couldn’t tell how cold the steady raindrops were. I managed to find a small secluded place behind an abandoned house. I changed into something I considered appropriate for the current weather. My fingers curled around the necklace I wore constantly, rubbing the image with my thumb. The ruby rose picture represented my love, my demise. I walked back to the front of the house and began my journey through the streets of Baltimore. I knew what I had to do, it was almost time.

I stumbled upon a pretty populated park which I realized quickly was named Carroll Park. Children ran around, shrieking loudly and giggling excessively. I smiled slightly at the ones that crossed my path. I kept my pace up but trying not to be too noticeable with my unbelievable speed. After a couple of minutes I found myself across from an abandoned swing set. Upon one of the swings sat a girl with beautiful black hair, accented with bright blue. Her pale complexion was really suspicious. Most of the people around us had pink noses and cheeks while hers stayed untouched from the cold. Her lips were parted in a gentle gasp. I saw her pull out a cell phone, type quickly and then answered her ringing phone. Because of my exceptional hearing, I heard every word.

“Hello?” she answered.

On the other end of the phone I heard a male voice say, “Hey Ana, Jack said you got picked up already? Sorry I didn't text back, I'm driving."

She swallowed deeply before replying,"Y—yeah I'm almost home. Sorry for making you drive. I gotta go now."

The male spoke briefly before the girl cut him off with a click of her phone. I saw her stand up and start to walk. Like a lion stalking its prey, I followed behind her soundlessly. Her swift movements gave away her true identity and I just knew. I knew I’d find her easily, of course I would. Anastasia’s blood ran through mine, she was the one who turned me. I remember that night so clearly.

“Ana seriously I don’t understand why you do this to yourself, please; talk to me,” I said in a soft whisper. I wrapped my arms securely around the frail girl with bleeding arms that sobbed beside me. She thrashed around trying to break free but I held her tighter with each fight.

“Let me go Gus! Let me go! You can’t—you can’t see me like this! Please! Just go away!” she cried out. Each word cut the hole in my heart further. How could she want me to just leave her like this? Didn’t she understand that her pain was my pain? Didn’t she get that I wouldn’t leave her for anything in the world? Didn’t she see how much I loved her?

“Anastasia please stop trying to push me away. There’s nothing in this world you can do that’ll make me want to be away from you,” I breathed into her face. Her face contorted in grief. Tears brimmed her eyes, threatening to spill over. I caressed her face, tucking her hair behind her ear. Using my thumb and forefinger I lifted her chin upwards to meet my lips.

Our lips met with a burst fire. I heard her gasp lightly and I took advantage of that. I slid my tongue on hers slowly, savoring every taste of her. My fingers moved from her face to her hair. Too soon she pulled away, leaving my lips burning for more.

She had her eyes shut and her head down. I followed her gaze and gasped loudly. All the blood pouring from her arms was gone, her self-inflicted wounds were already pink with healing. I looked back up to her face and let out a soft whimper.

Her normally blue eyes turned dark, almost black. Her lips went from a raspberry color to a blood ruby red. Sharp teeth protruded from her mouth in a terrible grin.

I tried to look away from her eyes but they were so compelling, drawing me in every second I looked into them. The blood in my veins became thick and slowed. I couldn’t feel any part of my body. everything around me seemed to fall away, leaving me alone with the temptress I held in my arms. Her head lowered down to my neck. She breathed on it, her breath cold as ice, making me shiver in fear.

“Nothing?” she said in a fascinating voice. Without wasting another second, her teeth sunk deep into my neck with a great force.

The pain and pleasure that swirled inside of me was enough to cause me to lose consciousness. I felt myself becoming weaker and weaker. I heard rather than felt Anastasia pull herself off of me. And that’s when the real hell began.

I grinned menacingly at Ana as she walked ahead of me. Oh if she only knew how grateful I was for what she did to me all those years ago. I followed her to her house. She had a little argument with her mother upon entry and I took that as my cue to climb the walls to her bedroom window. I opened it with ease, the foolish girl never locks anything.

I surveyed her room to find many posters of bands hanging on her walls. One particular band was prominent to me because she had various posters of them. All Time Low. I shrugged it off and went to sit in the middle of her bed, not even caring if she found me.

She came into the room moments later, an annoyed expression on her face. She sighed loudly before turning towards her bed. She froze dead in her tracks, her face changing from annoyance to confusion to pure horror.

“Happy to see me my pet?” I sung out, loving the way my voice sounded out in the open.

She shook her head rapidly, blinking a million times per second, causing tears to fall from her eyes. I stood up impossibly fast and used my thumb to wipe away her tears. She had still yet to move, her body was so tense.

“Relax Ana, it’ll all be over soon,” I cooed before leaving her standing by her bed as I crawled back out her window. It was only a matter of time now.
