I woke the next morning in someone’s warm embrace, and I rolled over to find Alex holding me. He was redressed and he looked peaceful in his sleep. I felt peaceful in his arms. Maybe he was only peaceful because I was comfortable being held by him. This did nothing to help my crush on him that’s for sure. And I know that now he knows how I feel about him. And his imprinting was going make him cave into feeling for me the way I feel about him.

I sat up carefully, trying not to wake him as I climbed out of my tent. I closed up the tent, leaving Alex sound asleep as I went to join Jack at the fire pit as he cooked up breakfast. I sat down in a chair next to him and warmed myself with the heat of the fire since being out of Alex’s arms made me cold.

“How was the view this morning,” Jack asked with a smug smile on his lips.

“How long have you been up,” I asked him.

“I woke up to Alex howling in pain as he turned back,” Jack replied.

“Ah,” I replied in understanding, “So you watched him get inside my tent this morning?”

“Pretty much. I also heard him start to snore softly after I heard the ruffling of a sleeping bag,” he replied.

Jack and I got breakfast cooked. I was hoping to see Alex wake up soon. I didn’t want to eat before him since he and I are connected, I feel like he might not eat if I eat first. He’s new to this imprinting thing like I am so I have no clue how he’ll handle things.

Once the food was done, Alex came out to the fire and I got up so he could sit in the chair. He grabbed hold of my waist and pulled me down onto his lap. I was a little uncomfortable with his bluntness in the action. He just formed his connection to me and it was a little awkward around him now.

“Relax, I got you okay,” Alex whispered in my ear.

“It’s hard to do when your neighbor is a new werewolf that imprinted on you and is pulling you into his lap without warning,” I told him.

“Sorry, it was an impulse,” he replied, “You looked cold.”

“I’m cold compared to you. Your body temperature got raised from 98.8 to 102,” I told him.

“But I’ll keep you warm,” he replied with a smile.

“Awe that is so cute,” the blue-haired girl from my first day spoke up. Alex tensed up as he held me tightly to him.

“Vera,” Cass stood up and glared at her.

“Pope,” she spat at Cass.

“Now, now Vera, do play nice with them,” the green-haired one said as the pair were joined by the redhead and the purple-hair girl.

“Synfires aren’t welcome in werewolf territory,” Lessa growled at them.

“Scamper off, puppy,” the redhead sneered at Lessa. She raised her hand to Lessa and Lessa started screaming in pain.

“Release her, Tess,” Melody yelled.

“Hush now, Tinkerbelle,” Vera said as she casted a similar spell on Melody.

“Melody,” Jack screamed as he held Melody in his arms as she screamed in pain.

“Tess may I,” the green-haired girl asked as she looked at me.

“Go for it, Bellatrix. Loren, handle Pope,” Tess ordered.

Cass started screaming because of Loren as Bellatrix came near me. She saw the grip Alex held on me. She smirked and then Alex released me suddenly to grab at his head. He started to scream in pain. I knew what she was doing. She was causing him pain like I had done to Lessa to prove I was strong enough to be here with Alex.

“Let him go,” I yelled at Bellatrix as I casted a counter spell onto Alex that relieved his pain.

“I don’t think so,” Bellatrix blasted me back with her magic, throwing off my concentration. Alex began screaming again. I wasn’t about to fail him now.

“Bitch you do not touch him,” I screamed as I called flames to my hands and made a fireball that I threw at her, singeing her hair.

“The fuck, bitch,” she screamed at me. I countered her pain spell over Alex again and I threw another fireball at her as I walked over to Alex.

“Alex, get behind me,” I told him as I built a barrier around us and shaped it around everyone.

“Camille I know what you’re going to do. You don’t have enough energy to keep it up,” Alex warned as I built the barriers around everyone and countered the pain spells holding the girls.

“Mills, your nose,” Melody noticed.

“Camille you’re not strong enough for this,” Cass warned.

“I can do this,” I protested as I started to sway, struggling to hold my balance.

“Clear out, Synfires,” I heard my dad shout, “This is werewolf territory. Allies to the packs are only allowed here.”

“Camille,” Alex shouted as I fell over. My body gave out from the power I used. The last thing I felt was being caught in Alex’s arms before I felt nothing.

“Camille,” I heard a familiar voice, “Can you hear me Camille?”

I groaned and opened my eyes to find I was in my room. Alex was sitting next to me on the edge of my bed. Jack had Melody on his lap as he sat in my armchair. Lessa sat with Cass and Rian on my couch. My dad was perched on the opposite side of Alex on my bed, checking over my body.

“Hey Dad,” I spoke quietly as it cracked from exhaustion.

“We thought you were a goner,” Melody commented glumly.

“You used too much power without being trained to do that. You could have caused more damage than being unconscious for eighteen hours,” my dad said.

“When I warn you that you’re not strong enough to use that much power, please listen to me,” Alex said with a smirk as he played with my hair.

“I had to help everyone,” I told him before I coughed from my dry throat.

“You were lucky I got there in time,” my dad added, “You could have exhausted yourself and your friends would have been severely damaged from the Synfires’ spells.”
