Magic can be curse and a blessing. To me, it has only brought me problems. My parents separated when I was four years old and I left with my mom. But she recently died; she took her own life. Now I was moving from my home outside Seattle all the way to Towson, Maryland to live with my dad. Hopefully, I could manage to keep my magic under control so my dad won’t have to move around like my mom had to.

“Camille,” I heard a familiar voice that I hadn’t heard in person in a long time call to me. I look around and I find a greying man that I knew I reflected him in me. I ran to my dad and I wrapped my arms around him.

“I missed you, Dad,” I mumbled into his chest. I missed being able to hug him. I clung to my memories of him as I grew up and I hoped to see him again on day. That day finally came and I was living it today.

“I missed you to Camille,” my dad replied.
Once my dad got me home and I got myself settled in and unpacked. My room was amazing. I had a queen bed with a purple and black bedspread that matched the colors in my room. I had my own bathroom for me to get ready in the morning. I had a nice walk in closet that I kept all of my clothes in and I stashed my grimoire in a false bottom draw of my dresser. My desk was now the home of my computer and all of my school supplies as well as my sketch books. I had a nice entertainment system with nice speakers and a beautiful TV that I could play my games on and watch my movies. My new room out did all the rooms I’ve slept in when I was with my mom. Plus it had a balcony that I could go out and lounge in the sun on during the summer.
I looked outside to see my dad talking with I think our neighbor and his son. The boy had shaggy black hair and was in holding a guitar case in one hand and had his backpack slung over his shoulder. He looked pretty damn hot and he had to be around my age too. I walked out onto my balcony and I leaned on the railing.

“Hey Dad,” I greeted my dad from my perch.

“Hi Camille, these are our neighbors Peter and Alex Gaskarth. I was just telling them you’ll be attending Delaney in the fall,” my dad replied.

“Which means we’ll be classmates, kind of. I’m a senior and you’re a junior,” Alex said to me, smiling kindly at me. I was hoping to go through school and not be noticed. That way if I have to leave to protect my dad I wouldn’t have people attached to me. But now my plan was shattered when I felt my heart race at his smile.

“Cool,” I replied.
I was sitting on my bed that night with all of my blinds closed and I had a circle of my candles burning. I needed to talk to my mom and this required magic for me to do so. Dad didn’t mind that I used my magic; he only asked that I keep it clean and not wreck the house. He comes from a family of magic and he’s like me but his magic makes him a great healer so he works as a doctor for his cover.

“Mom,” I greeted my mother’s spirit when she appeared in the circle of candles.

“Camille, are you alright and settled in with your father,” she asked.

“Yeah, but I want advice from you,” I told her.

“Is it about a boy,” she asked, “You just moved in today with your father and you’ve met a boy already.”

“He’s our neighbor and he’s rather cute too. But I want to know if I should isolate myself and avoid making connections so he won’t get hurt if they find me or should I just be normal for a change and build a friendship with him,” I asked her.

“You’ve never been normal as most people define it, Camille. You’re normal in your own way. I think you should give him a chance. Be his friend, he can help you adjust to living in Towson and can help you out in school. Maybe he’ll end up as the perfect person for you to finally come out about your magic too,” she said.

“I agree with your mother on this, Camille. Let him be your friend. I don’t want you to be alone like I was when I was your age,” my dad added in. He must have snuck into my room.

“Hi Greg,” my mom greeted my father. I knew she loved my dad and when she left him, it tore her apart. She left because of my magic, I was a four year old that couldn’t control her magic and struggled with hiding it.

“It’s nice to see you again, Kat. I’ve missed you. You did a great job with Camille,” Dad spoke softly to my mom, careful not to offend her.

“Greg, you and Camille must listen to my warning. I didn’t commit suicide. I was murdered, by the Synfires,” Mom spoke shakily.

“The Synfires made their return. Kat you should have brought Camille to me when you knew they were tailing you two. I don’t want them getting their hands on Camille,” my dad sounded terrified and worried for me.

“Who are the Synfires,” I asked.

“The Synfires are witches that seek to control all things involving magic. They tried to recruit me when I was your age but they disbanded due to a bunch of fellow witches took down their leaders to protect the younger witches. If they’re back, they’ve targeted you because you have so much power that you can’t harness yet and they’ll use you to do terrible things. You can’t let them take you, Camille. You have to fight them back. If you get close to Alex or anyone else, you have to protect them,” my dad lectured.

“Dad, are you telling me that I’m in danger and so is Alex or whoever else I might meet because of my magic,” I asked him.

“That is exactly what I’m saying,” he replied.

“Camille, do not be afraid to become friends with Alex. You just have to know that he can become your weakness and you have to be ready to protect him if they find you,” my mom added.

“Dad, can you and I train me to be stronger with my magic,” I looked up at my dad.

“We’ll start tomorrow. You’ll be a rounded witch until I figure out your strongest talent,” he replied.

“I have to go, Camille. Go get some rest,” my mom parted as I blew out the candles in the circle.

I'm now scared out of my mind of the Synfires and I hope I can fight them off. If I get close to Alex, I hope I can defend him and keep him safe from harm.

Notes

New story! :3

I was sitting on this one for a while. I wanted to draft the early chapters before getting this posted. I am going to post updates for this twice a week, once on Tuesdays and once on Thursdays. They're my busiest with school so I'll be drafting this during the off days and working on Better Everyday. No stories will be posted on Wednesday since it is my busiest day of the week. I will change it as I adjust to my classes though.

So after checking out your other story, I decided to check this one out too. And I'm glad I did because I really like this one as well. :D Bummed since it hasn't been finished or continued, but if you ever choose to, I will be here for this one as well.
You definitely offer unique plot lines so I think that's what I enjoy about your stories. I love the fantasy plot line of this one. I think Alex and Camille together are soooo cute. <3
I really hope you consider continuing this some day. I will be here to read.

@jessicatonimason
To be honest, I play The Sims 3 all the time here at my dorm and I have the supernatural expansion pack. So I got bored one day and I played around with it, in the process I got inspired to write a story like this one.
