Teenagers. They were a special kind of people. Everybody thought they were lazy and stupid, nothing but trouble. "Them darn kids" stereotypical elderly folks would yell when kids drove by on their bicycles too fast or when they noticed how they had toys and electronics they never had as kids. But Alex Gaskarth? He's unique. But everybody is unique right? Well yeah, but Alex is his own kind of unique. He's always believed in God, but does God believe in him? Does God really love him like his pastor always says? Like the bible says? Or like his parents? Yes, he does.

"Do I make you proud God?" Alex would cry out at night.

"Why don't you listen to me?! You never answer me! Why? All I want is for you to love me." He cried as rain pelted against the windows, loud claps of thunder rumbled through the air.

"This must be your way of showing me you don't, huh." Alex whispered as he closed his bible after reading a short passage his youth pastor had wrote him for hard times like these.

"You'll always make him proud, Alex." His youth pastor had said.

"But, I can't seem to know if I do." Alex whispered, burying his face into his palms.

"You don't have to see it to know he's there. He always hears you when you're crying out to him. So don't think he's not listening, Alex." He said calmly with a firm grip on his shoulder.

Alex was like any other teenager. He has gone through his ups and downs with his beliefs, family, and grades. But one simple answer to a life or death question, little did he know would change his life forever.

"Do you believe in God?"

"Yes."
