Damned if I do ya
ch. 1
Chloe's POV
"I'm gonna marry the night; I'm not gonna cry anymore; I'm gonna marry the night; Leave nothing on these streets to explore," I sung under my breath as I scrubbed the bathtub of Ms. Flum's bathroom. Once I was done I rinsed it out. After cleaning the toilet and the sink I proceeded to clean her master bedroom making sure I made the bed to her liking. Five hours later I was walking to my car, waving my goodbyes to Krista and Ms. Flum.
Being a housekeeper wasn't so bad. My hours weren't so bad either and I never worked on the weekends. The people were old but all were so nice. They even gave me snacks or sometimes full meals while I was there. I hardly ever brought lunch with me and if I did it was normally a ham and cheese sandwich. I had one house to clean every day from Monday through Friday. On the weekends I would spend part of my time babysitting some of the ladies kids and part of the time partying. I wasn't one to get sloppy drunk but I did enjoy the occasional drink here and there.
I pulled into the driveway of my apartment complex, easing my car into my designated spot. Once my car was parked I got out and grabbed my purse along with me. I double checked to make sure my car was locked. I set my keys on the coffee table and made my way to the kitchen. I was a bit hungry so I wanted to make something small. A salad was e ought to tide me over until tonight. Being as it was Friday I was excited for tonight. I was always excited for Friday and it wasn't because I was I was going out tonight with friends or some lame date; no it was far more exciting than that.
Just as I was going over tonight in my head my work phone rang. I had to get this just so I wouldn't have to deal with my friends calling my work phone and making me comfortable with answering the phone casually. I picked it up on the second ring.
"Chloe's cleaning service how may I help you?" I spoke in the most professional voice I could manage.
"Hello is this Miss Chloe?" a woman's voice spoke.
"Yes this is her. How may I help you?"
"Hello my name isIsobel Gaskarth. I was given your number by a friend of mine. Her name is Lisa Flum. She said you do house cleaning services?”
“Why yes I do. Were you interested in a house estimate?” I inquired, knowing full well exactly what to say. I’d done this thousands of time for people in Baltimore. I was actually pretty known around here even though it was a big town in Maryland.
“Yes I was actually. When would it be good for you to swing by?”
“Hm. I’m free Sunday afternoon if that’s alright with you?” I knew I was going to be busy all night tonight and Saturday night but I could do Sunday afternoon.
“That’s perfect! My son will be here is that alright?”
“It makes no difference. If he lives with you then I believe it’d be easier for him to meet me at the same time you do so it’s not awkward when I just show up to clean your house,” I chuckled softly. I had that happen to me many times before so I knew I had to bring it up. Besides, I wanted to see if this kid was going to be a problem for me. Some kids got in the way, especially the boys.
“Oh no he’s got a house of his own. He’s usually traveling a lot though so he won’t be around much. So how does Sunday at one sound? Could you make it then?” she inquired.
“Perfect now what’s your address?” I grabbed a notepad as she rattled off her address. After making sure I had gotten it right I bid goodbye to her. I put my work phone on the charger in the living room; I hardly had it in my room because I didn’t need it at night.
I picked up my personal phone and pulled up a contact and pressed the “new message” button.

I’m getting ready right now. See ya tonight girl ;)
Her response was instant.

Better look good! Tonight will be phenomenal! :)
And with that I proceeded to get all dolled up, knowing fully well I needed at least three hours to get ready. Once I was satisfied with my look, I grabbed my keys and strutted towards my car, wrapping my trench coat securely around my small frame.
Tonight was going to be epic.
