A Life of the Plain and the Simple

One

Tour has been intense for us. We were half way through the album span now and we just finished our latest US headliner. We played to sold out crowds in 1000+ capacity venues and both Jack and I were exhausted. But there was one person that kept us going.

Isabelle.

She's three now and damn she was so adorable. I hated leaving her with our parents, but she was just too young to come with us on tour. I had taken my dad's advice on that subject. I wanted to protect her from getting hurt while we were on the road.

Jack grabbed our bags from our cab and I made my way up our drive to our front door. I had my mom bring Isabelle home last night so she'd be here at the house when we got home. I opened the door as Jack came up with our bags and let him inside first. I closed the door behind us quietly and went through the house to find our little angel.

I stopped in the doorway of the den. Isabelle sat on the floor, her dark hair was all over the place as she played with her stuffed animals with my dad as my mom watched and took pictures of them.

"Baby, we're home," I greeted her. Isabelle's head snapped up and a huge grin grew on her little face.

"Mommy! Daddy," she squealed with joy as she ran into my arms, "I missed you, but Grampa Alex and Gramma Juli played with me and told me stories about you."

"Did you behave for them," I asked her.

"She was perfect, Stell," Dad said as he got up off the ground. I passed Isabelle to Jack so he could get a hug from her and talk to her while I got a hug from my dad.

"How was your tour, Dad," I asked him.

"Pretty good. Soundwave is always awesome," he replied, "How about your first pretty big headliner?"

"It was pretty good. I missed this little one everyday," I told him as I stroked her hair.

"I hope you'll be ready to kill it on Warped tour this year. We'll be on it this year and both Liam and Noelle are tagging along this time," he replied.

"I look forward to it. Is Mom staying home," I asked.

"Yep I'm staying home. I still have my job at the studio. Isabelle will be in good hands with me," Mom replied as she stood up from her seat.
"Mommy," Izzy looked up from her dinner plate, "When can I come on tour with you and Daddy?"

"I don't know, Izzybean," Jack replied, "Tour is a lot of work for me and Mommy. We don't have a lot of free time. Plus it's not safe for you."

"I wish I could go with you," Izzy sniffled, trying to hide the tantrum that was about to be unleashed. Nice Jack, you've gone and done it now.

"Izzy, don't cry sweetheart," I cooed as I pushed some of her hair behind her ear, "I didn't get to go on tour with your grandfathers until I was around Aunt Noelle and Uncle Liam's age. You'll be able to join us on tour one day. For right now I want you to be my big girl and help look after Grandma Juli, okay."

"Okay Mommy," she replied, "Can we get a puppy? I want a puppy like you and Daddy had when you were like me."

I looked at Jack, hoping for an answer from him. I got nothing.

"I'll think about it. Daddy and I will be home for a while and we can look into getting you a puppy. But if you get a puppy, you'll have to help take care of him when you go to your grandparents' houses while we're on tour," I told her.

"I promise to play and love and feed my puppy, Mommy," she replied.

"I'll talk with Daddy about," I told her, "Why don't you go pick out a movie for us to watch tonight as a family."

Izzy got out of her chair at the kitchen table and went into the living room to get a movie. I sat down in Jack's lap and kissed him tenderly. I loved him so much, we had our little three year old, we were happily married. Now we might get a puppy. Maybe in the future he and I could have another baby.
