It was about 1 when I heard a knock on my door. I was getting ready to make a sandwhich. I set the bread on the table, and opened the door. Alex stood in the rain, a goofy smile plastered on his face.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, kind of surprised. Alex only shrugged, and then turned to leave. "Wait, I wasn't telling you to leave. Come in." I said, stepping off to the side and allowing him entry into the house. I closed the door, and showed him around.

"Sorry I showed up so unexplectadly. I just can't be home right now." Alex said, rubbing the back of his neck. I sat down on the couch, Alex following suit.

"Why not, did something happen?" I asked, taking a bite from my sandwhich. Alex shrugged again, taking a bite of his sandwhich as well.

"I don't really want to talk about it." He said, wiping the crumbs from his sweatshirt. I nodded in understanding. "I don't mean that I don't want you to know, I just don't want to talk about it right now. It will probably come in the future.... Maybe." Alex said, his brow furrowing. His fringe fell in his face as he looked down at the ground.

"It's alright, it's none of my business." I said, smiling. "Come on, want to go play xbox?" Alex looked up, a huge grin on his face.

"Yeah, that would be awesome!" He said excitedly. I jumped up, pulling him a long to my room. He sat down on my bed, and waited for me to set it up. I caught him eyeing all of my blink-182 posters, and I smiled.

"You can have one if you want." I said, gesturing towards the posters. He looked at me as if I was crazy.

"Are you being serious?" He asked, scratching at his elbow. I nodded, and made my way over to the wall and taking down one of the posters.

"In fact, you can have this one." I said, handing it to him. He looked at it, his eyes growing wide.

"B-But this is signed by them!" He said, trying to give it back to me. I held up my hands, and chuckled.

"Yeah, that's why I want you to have it." I said. Alex expression went from confused, to happy in .2 seconds. He put the poster aside, and attacked me with a hug.

"Thank you, wow. You don't know how much this means to me." He said, his voice full of excitement. I hugged him back, feeling my face begin to burn.

"It's no big deal." I said nonchalantly, stepping back and surveying Alex's face. After a couple minutes, I handed him one of the xbox controllers. "What do you want to play?" I asked, holding up three of my favorite games. He pointed to my all time favorite one, and I slid it in to the disc tray. "This one's my favorite." I said, dropping down next to Alex on my bed.

We played for hours, shouting profanities at eachother when one of us was killed. By three, we were tired of playing so we went downstairs for some food. We raced eachother to the kitchen, and stopped when we saw my mom sitting at the table.

"Hello, Jack. Who's your friend?" She said, pointing to Alex. I looked over, his face was filled with worry as he looked back at me.

"Uh, this is Alex. He lives up the road." I said, trying to read the expression on my mothers face. She didn't look angry, but she didn't look to pleased either. I watched as she stood up from the chair, and made her way to Alex. She held out her hand, and Alex took it without hesitation, giving it a firm shake.

"Nice to meet you, Alex." My mother said, smiling. It was a genuine smile, one I hadn't seen in years.

"Likewise." Alex said, returning the smile. She turned to me, the smile fading.

"Did you finish what I asked you to do, Jack?" She asked, looking around.

"Yes, I did." I said with a smile on my face. She smiled back and nodded.

"Good. Alex, it was nice meeting you, but you should be getting home." My mother said sweetly. Alex nodded.

"Yeah, you're right. Goodbye, nice meeting you too. Bye Jack, thanks for the poster." Alex said, holding it up. I didn't even see him bring it down.

"Bye, Alex." I said, smiling after him. Even long after he walked out the door.
