Alex sat still in the middle of Jacks bed, staring at the floor. His bags were packed, and the social worker would be here in half an hour. Jack sat beside him, his head resting on his shoulder. His arm was wrapped protectively around his waist.

"I wish this was a bad dream, and I could wake up and be beside you, with nothing to worry about." Jack said sadly. Alex nodded in agreement, letting a single tear roll down his cheek.

"Me too." He whispered. Jack sat up, grabbing Alexs hand, and pulling him to the top of the bed.

"Lay with me." He said, pulling back the covers. Alex obliged, climbing underneath the blanket, and curling into Jacks chest. He hugged him tightly, kissing the top of his head. "I love you, Lex." Jack said, burying his nose into Alex's hair taking in his sweet smell.

"Love you too, Jacky." Alex said. Jack felt the butterflies rise in his stomach, but they quickly dispersed when he heard a gentle knock on the door. Alex fidgeted a little, but he didn't move from his spot. "They're early." He whimpered. Jack nodded, thinking about gettin up but instead, just laid there, not wanting to face what was downstairs. Again, there was another knock, this time more forceful. It echoed up into their ears, and Jack groaned as he rolled out of the bed. He could feel the lump in his throat, and he tried to swallow it. It wouldn't budge. His eyes began to sting, as he made his way down the hallway, and when he opened the door he broke down into tears. He fell to his knees, and let the sobs come out.

"Please don't take him away from me." He choked, grovelling. The woman bent down, and placed her hand gently on Jacks back.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie. I'm not the one who makes the decisions." She whispered, her attention turning from Jack to Alex, who was coming down the stairs. "Are you Alexander Gaskarth?" She asked, standing up. Alex nodded, and Jack let another sob escape his body. Alex was crying as well, but not nearly as much as Jack. "It's time to go, hun. I'll give you a few minutes to say goodbye, but we really need to go." She said, her voice was sympathetic. Alex nodded, as the woman dissappeared. Jack got up, and rushed over to Alex pulling him into a hug.

"I love you, Lex." Jack said through choked sobs, as Alex cried silently into his shoulder.

"I love you too, Jack." Alex breathed, breaking away and pressing his lips firmly to Jacks. It was like he couldn't get enough of him, and he just needed to be closer. Jack pulled away first, tears streaming like rivers down his cheeks. He took Alexs face in his hands, and looked him straight in the eyes.

"I promise we'll see eachother again, alright. I will never stop looking for you." Jack said, kissing Alex one last time. The woman appeared in the doorway again, her eyes sad as she looked at the two boys.

"Come, sweetie. Time to go." And just as quickly as Alex had come into Jacks life, he was gone.
