Never Let Me Go

Two

Before the band got signed, they would spend hours practising in the house, working on original songs or covering others. I wasn't really a huge fan, Rian's drums annoyed the absolute shit out of me and we spent most of our high school years in huge arguments because of this.
In the boys last year, however, I finally got used to the music and by this stage they actually sounded pretty good. They were quite popular at school, but this only meant they got invited to parties and nobody ever wanted to date me because Jack and Rian threatened their lives.
It was safe to say that I wasn't exactly happy during these last high school years. Girls would try to befriend me just to get closer to my brother, or even try to get closer to the rest of the guys. Honestly, I don't know what they expected was going to happen - I barely had anything to do with the boys! I preferred getting lost in a good book and sipping tea all night long, rather than attend the crazy parties that Rian went to, and I always tried to fall asleep before the boys got home, that way I wouldn't have to listen to the drunken ramblings of my brothers friends.

The date I had my first date was the day that everything changed. Rian, of course, was totally enraged that I had agreed to this 'date' without his permission. I had to remind him that I was, in actual fact, 16, and could make my own decisions about who was going to be a part of my life. He still seemed to think that my opinion didn't matter and I was still a child.
Thank god Zach was able to talk some sense into him before I jumped in the shower to get ready, otherwise who knows what my life would be like today!

"Rian, it's just a date and if you are seriously going to follow me to the cinemas when I meet up with Brax to have a "talk", you're bloody nuts!"
We had been arguing for two hours straight when they boys walked through the front door.
Jack was the first to react - "Guys, what's going on?!"
I daresay that all the boys heard was babbling from both Rian and myself about how I wanted to go on a date and Rian thought it was ridiculous and that I was 16 and could make my own decisions but of course I was still a stupid child who had no idea about the world and what boys thought of at this age.
I'm surprised the guys understood the situation to be perfectly honest.
"Man, if she wants to go out with this guy, you can't stop her," Zach interuppted. "Besides, she isn't a child and the guy would have to know what would happen to his face if he messed with her in the wrong way!"

After that, it was safe to say that Rian's reputation as the scary big brother at school went kind of downhill and more and more guys were asking me out, much to his displeasure. However, I wasn't into dating every guy that asked me out, to be perfectly honest I wasn't even that interested in dating the guys that DID ask me out. They were ratty, immature boys who had nothing in common with me and most certainly would break my heart. I'd read all about their scheming in the novels I read. Jack thought I was bonkers for believing a fictional story, but nobody had ever shown me otherwise.

It wasn't until halloween that I got my first taste of popularity. Although, I'm not sure getting invited to your brothers best friend's party was considered being 'popular'. But Jack invited me none the less and I was so excited to finally be a part of the real high school experiance.

The night of the party, Rian and I left early to help Jack and the guys set up. We had dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, and Rian had the idea that I would carry all his drinks in my basket while I followed him around all night in case boys tried stuff on me at the party. Typical big brother reaction!

"Hey, you guys look good, but not really as good as me!" Alex said as we came through the front door. He was already past tipsy and was dressed as an army general.

I could tell this was going to be a very different experience.
