You've Got My Heart in Your Hands

Deux (Two)

After my run in with Alex, I have tried to not run into him again; for his own safety. With Kaden and Kyle trying to track me down to drag me to Dimetri, I was worried he'd be caught in the cross fire.

Luckily for me today, Ivy finally got me the chance to live with her and her parents. I was tired of sleeping in the mausoleum at the cemetery outside town. I can stand the idea of hurting someone for their blood and I cannot stand the smell of people decomposing either.

"Sophie, how about you and Ivy make a trip to the grocery store. We'll go out to the farmhouse outside town to see if we caught any more rats there for Sophie," Ivy's mom asked us.

"Sure we can go," Ivy replied, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the house.
"Alright, we need to go to the breakfast aisle and get some more cereal," Ivy mentioned as she looked at her mom's grocery list.

We rounded the corner and there I was Alex with a guy that was two inches taller than him with skunk hair and was a bit skinnier than him. I started to panic since I did not want to run into the man my urges were lusting to drain him dry.

"Sophie," he greeted me, "I didn't expect to run into you here."

"You know each other," Ivy asked, looking at me.

"I met him on my break at the bar," I told her.

"That's Alex, he's from All Time fucking Low. That's my favorite band and you didn't tell me you met THE Alex," Ivy sneered at me in a whisper so Alex didn't hear.

"I didn't know he was from that band," I whispered back, "You forget that I have no idea on how I was like as a human. I have no memory of my human life."

"Am I missing something here," Alex asked awkwardly.

"Oh no, um...this is my little sister, Ivy," I introduced them.

"Well this Jack, he opted to help me stock up my house with food. We just got back from tour last week and I need groceries," Alex replied.

"It's nice to meet you, Jack," I shook his hand carefully and quickly so he couldn't tell I was really dead.

"Hey Sophie, let me give you my number so if I have a party or something, you could teach me how to mix some drinks," Alex said as he took out a sharpie and a piece of paper from his jacket pocket.

"Thanks, I'll get in touch with you sometime," I replied as Ivy and I continued to shop and Alex and Jack went to finish theirs.

"What the fuck was that? You don't have a cell phone," Ivy snapped at me.

"Not yet. I got paid, in cash, last night so I'm going to need your help to get me a phone," I told her.

"Sophie you cannot be serious about chasing him," Ivy asked as we went down the cultural aisle.

"I might as well act human. I can't be anti-social with people. The more I blend and mingle, the better it is for me," I told her.

"I hope you know what you're doing. I can only help you so much with my magic," she replied.
I got my new phone out and I added Alex to my contacts and I called him. I hoped he'd answer on my first try.

"Hello this is AWG," he greeted.

"Hi Alex, this is Sophie," I replied.

"Hey Sophie, you called me sooner than I thought you would," he replied.

"I was wondering when you wanted to learn how to mix drinks," I asked him, Ivy was now leaning on the other side of my phone, listening in.

"How about tomorrow night. I'm having the rest of my band over," he replied, "How old is Ivy?"

"Sixteen," I replied.

"Well I would be a terrible person if I had drinks around a minor," he started.

"It doesn't mean you encouraged her to drink underage. I'll keep her in check. I owe her mom since she bailed me out when I was her age," I told him.

"Then I will see you lovely ladies tomorrow night," he replied before we both hung up.

"Sophie, you're twenty, forever. You're going to be drinking underage too," Ivy bitched.

"Don't be so uptight. Alcohol doesn't affect me. I've tried," I told her.

"How do you know," she asked.

"I traded a homeless guy a twenty I found in the purse I died with for his bottle of vodka. I drank the whole thing and it acted like water in my body," I told her.

"Fucking vampires, you'll never know what it's like to be tipsy or hungover," Ivy whined.

"I'll learn it through you and Alex, Ivy," I told her.

"You like him," she said matter-of-factly.

"I just met the guy a week ago," I countered.

"Doesn't mean anything. You can like someone right when you meet them Sophie. Give him a chance. I think he'll help you come to terms with being a vampire. Maybe trigger you to remember your human memories even," Ivy said, "Or you can turn him so he can help you fight Dimetri, Kaden, and Kyle."

"The fuck no," I protested, "I am not making Alex anything like me."

Comments

I'm just reading all of your stories, it seems.
I really like this one. I think this is the first vampire ATL one I've read where the girl is the vampire, not a member or members of ATL. lol.
If you ever choose to continue, I will be here to read. :) You're a great writer.
