I sipped at my frappe, occasionally meeting eyes with Jack. This is wrong, this is so fucking wrong. Last time I bonded with someone our friendship ended with my teeth in his neck. I didn't want that to happen to Jack. He deserved more than that; a selfless death done by your friend sucking all your blood from your body, then turning into this horrible blood drinking... thing. I heard slurping coming from Jack as he finished his frappe, pushing it to the side.

"So what made you move to Baltimore? I mean out of everywhere in America you chose this shithole?" He said, laughing lightly afterwards.

I shrugged, "The woods out back I guess."

"You a hunter or something then?" Jack asked.

"You could say that." I said, the slight smirk on my face fading.

"I'm not manly enough to hunt, or even hold a fucking gun!" Jack said, making me giggle. I quickly changed the subject, asking Jack about what he wanted to do in the future and shit. "What do you want to do?" Jack asked, holding his face up with the palm of his hand and his elbow propped up on the table.

"Get out of this world as soon as I can." I said, sighing after.

"Wait, are you saying you want to die?" Jack said, worry painted across his face.

I shrugged, "I guess. It feels like I've been living forever." In my head I was laughing, laughing at how clueless Jack was, about how he nodded a grimace spread on his lips, about how he nodded understandingly not realizing I was being legit, that I have been living for a while — you could say. As Jack reached for his empty cup, his sleeve slid up. I grabbed his wrist, lifting the material slightly. I already knew he cut but I couldn't exactly come out say 'oh yeah I'm a vampire and I know that you cut because I can smell your blood really well when you do.' "Jack what is this?" I asked, a slight tinge of anger running through my voice. Jack winced in response and I realized then how tight my grip actually was. I let go, apologizing. He shrugged in response.

"Can we go somewhere else, this is too busy to talk about this?" he said referring to his wrists. I nodded and we chucked our cups in the bin and walked into the woods.

"Uh... Jack, where are we?" I asked, due to how long ago I had lost my bearings.

"Don't worry I know where I'm going." Jack said. I nodded despite the fact he couldn't see it, because I was trailing behind him. The wind blew in our direction, sending the scent of Jack through my nostrils. My eyes widened and I clenched my fists, resisting the urge. After a few deep breaths I recovered stalking on in the direction Jack was heading. After a few minutes I gasped, the beautiful view of the lake taking any oxygen in my lungs away. "Beautiful isn't it?" I nodded, still starstruck. " I love it here, it reminds me that the world is beautiful, it's just society that's ugly."

"It's amazing." I whispered. We sat down at a large tree that looked over the lake, that was swollen with water. "Jack...Why?" I asked, he turned his head and looked down at our feet — which were laid out in front of us — pointing in the direction of the lake.

"How long have you got?" Jack asked busying himself by twiddling his thumbs.

"As long as you need." I said, giving him a small smile.
