Never Grow Up

Hotel Room Monsters and Roaring Thunder

We're in San Diego for three days since we have a day off between shows. It was also going to storm tomorrow, the day off. I told Kylee we'll go to Disney World instead of Disney Land due to the bad weather. She understood, but I knew she was just relieved not to be going out into the scary weather.

"Daddy, save me," I heard Kylee scream. I shot up, wide awake to find Kylee flopping around on her bed in the hotel room.

"Kylee, wake up sweetheart," I shook her gently, trying to wake her up.

"They're going to eat me," she cried. I finally got her awake and she wrapped her arms tightly around me neck.

"It was just a dream, no one's going to hurt you," I told her as I rubbed her back to try calming her down.

"There's monsters in here, Daddy. I'm so scared," she whimpered.

"I'll have to scare them off now won't I," I asked her. She nodded her head eagerly.

I grabbed my macbook case and took out the small flashlight I kept in there for whenever we stayed in a hotel. The flashlight was for when Kylee had nightmares about monsters under her hotel bed and in the room.

I flicked it on and I saw the wet tears on Kylee's cheeks. I could see the fear in her eyes. I began my elaborate act of sweeping the room with the flashlight, checking all over to make sure no monsters were in our room. I checked under my bed first, finding nothing there. I then checked under Kylee's bed.

"No not a flashlight," I said in a scary voice I never let Kylee hear outside of nights like these, "I'm allergic to flashlights!"

"That's what you get for scaring my daughter," I sassed back to myself. To keep up the act, I made sure Kylee never watched my face as I acted out the little scene under her bed.

"I'm Mr. Gaskarth, I promise not to scare her anymore," I made the monster beg.

"Not going to cut it this time," I replied.

"Is he gone, Daddy," Kylee asked, her voice muffled by her blanket. I crawled out from under the bed and turned out the flashlight and flicked on the table lamp.

"He's gone, baby girl. You're safe again," I told her. She released her blanket and hugged me tightly.

"Thank you, Daddy. Can I sleep with you to be sure his friends won't get me," she asked.

"I don't see the problem with that," I replied. Kylee grabbed her teddy bear and she curled up with me under the covers. I turned off the lamp and sang her to sleep again.
The room was really dark, even though it was early in the afternoon. Kylee was cowering under the blankets of her bed in the hotel room. She peeked her head out of her covers only to be greeted by the lightning flashing and lighting up the dark room brightly. She covered her head back up as the thunder boomed and shook the hotel.

"Daddy," Kylee screamed for me. I was in the kitchen making our lunch.

"What's wrong, Kylee," I asked her as I uncovered her.

"I'm scared," she whimpered as I listened to the pattering of the heavy rain of the storm outside.

"You're in here and you're safe with me, Kylee. Let me finish making our lunch and then we can get Jack over to play Uno," I told her.

"Okay," she replied sheepishly. Lightning lit up the room again and Kylee squealed in fear as she covered her head again.

I got Jack and Danny to both come play Uno with us and I got Kylee to finally come out of hiding from the storm. Jack shuffled and dealt the cards out and we started to play. We agreed to let Kylee start since she was the youngest playing.

Around the table we went, taking our turn to match the color of the card laid down before us. The older players smiting each with skips and draw twos and fours. I avoided using my harmful cards on Kylee since she was next to me. She'd lay down reverses and I'd slam Jack with my harsh cards. At the end of the game, Kylee won.

Kylee forgot about the storm outside and the monsters she feared under her bed. I was happy that she did. I didn't like seeing my princess cry. I knew that she'll cry over some boy when she's a teenager, but I can handle it since I'm her protector from the monsters, the storms, and those mean and horny teenage boys she's yet to meet.

Comments

I just read what you have of this, and absolutely love it. I'm not sure if that last chapter you posted was kind of meant as a final chapter; I guess it could work in a way. But the story is awesome and I really liked what you have of it.
It's been a minute since you've updated, so it's probably asking a lot to update again, but if you weren't finished with this and one day want to update again, I will be here to read. :) Although as it is it could be seen as conclusive.
Idk, but I just wanted to leave this comment letting you know I enjoyed what you did have of this and think you're a great writer. The story is very sweet. :)
