Two Kids, No Consequences

Chapter One

When I wake up, my dream isn’t done! I wanna see your face wh- Painting Flowers by All Time Low blasted through the speaker on my iPhone, telling me it was time to wake up. I clicked the dismiss button on the alarm and looked at the clock on the phone. 4:15 A.M. “Ughh.” I groan and roll out of my bed, letting my covers fall off onto the floor. My bare feet stuck to the cold hardwood floor as I make my way into the bathroom. I turn the shower on and let the water heat up, filling the bathroom with steam. I got my towels, undress, and stepped in, letting the hot water wake me up. After I’m finished, I step out and wrap myself in a huge white plush bath towel. I walk back into my room and check my phone again. 4:32 A.M. Really? I thought I was in the shower for a good hour, not 15 minutes. I flip on my lights and walk over to my vanity, looking in the mirror, I see a girl with deep brown eyes, black hair, clear porcelain skin, and calm, cool and collected as can be. That was only 75% true. I’m actually not as calm, cool and collected as I may seem. Truthfully, my stomach is doing flip flops, and my knees are shaking. Wanna know why? Today is the day I leave to make my dreams come true. Today is the day I leave for Warped Tour 2010. I dry and straighten my hair, put on minimal make-up, and put on a pair of dark skinny jeans, my favorite Glamour Kills t-shirt, a zip-up All Time Low sweatshirt, and my purple and black Vans. I toss all my make-up, straightener, hair dryer, and bathroom stuff into a separate duffle, zip it up, and toss it outside of my bedroom door into the hallway. I shut my door and lean against it, my head resting on it. I take deep and steady breaths. This is going to be the toughest part of the whole tour. What clothes to pack. I know, it sounds like a simple task, but really, it isn’t. You don’t know what the weather will be like, how hot or cold your bus will be, if your favorite pair of jeans is going to rip, or you spill tomato sauce all over your favorite white sweatshirt. Easiest thing to do? Just shove it all in one suitcase and call it a day. That is exactly what I did. After sitting on my suitcase to get it shut, I walked over to my side table and grabbed my iDome, laptop and laptop case and charger, and my iPhone. I tossed my iPhone in my purse, and put my iDome in my duffle with my bathroom stuff in the hallway. I gave my room one last check before leaving. Then, in the corner of my room, I saw it. My journal. This journal contained everything in it I wanted to do with my life, all my poems, songs, drawings, and pretty much anything else you could think of. I knew I was going to lose this before I left. Thankfully I did my room check. I shut my light off and closed my door to my room. Just as I was picking up my bags, my phone rang. At this point, it was 5:58 A.M. Who in their right mind was calling me at 6:00 in the morning? I looked at the caller ID. Oh, of course. It was Alex. Yes, Alex Gaskarth. Alex is in All Time Low, and is also my older cousin. He’s the one who got me to keep pursuing singing. He’s the one who got me where I am. “Hello?” I said into the phone. I’m pretty sure it sounded like hllloo, considering I’m not fully awake yet. “Izzy! My favorite little cousin! Are you ready for a kick-ass tour?” He was literally yelling into the phone. “Ok, first, yes, I’m so ready for a kick-ass tour, and second, why the hell are you yelling at this early in the morning?” He knew I wasn’t a morning person. “I’m yelling because I’m EXCITED! Apparently you aren’t as excited as I am!” He really wasn’t catching on to what I was saying, was he? “Yes, I’m excited, but you are being too freaking loud at 6 in the morning. God, you sound like Jack.” “Hey! I heard that!” Apparently I was on speaker phone, because Jack heard that. “Sorry, but it’s the truth! I speak what’s on my mind!” At this point I was laughing. God that kid killed me. Actually, I guess I really can’t call him kid, because he’s older than me as well, but that’s okay. “So where are you guys?” I was getting really anxious to get this tour going. I mean, come on! I was touring and singing alongside All Time Low! “Hhmm, well in about 3….2….1….” HONK! I heard the biggest horn blaring from right outside my front door. I shoved all my bags down the steps and opened the front door. There sat the biggest tour bus I’ve ever seen in my entire life. “Here!” Alex stepped off the bus and ran over to me, enveloping my in a tight hug. “God Izzy I missed you so much!” Alex was still holding onto me. “Alex..Can’t breathe.” “Oh, right! Sorry!” He let me go and grabbed some of my bags, shoving them on the bus. I locked my door and took a few steps back, looking at my house for what would be the last time for the next 3 and a half months. But these were going to be the best 3 and a half months of my life. I stepped on the bus, and started off these long hours of driving. There, sitting on the couch, was Jack. “IZZ!” “JACKS!” Those were our nicknames from each other. Izz and Jacks. He also enveloped my in a tight hug. “Izz, I’ve missed you! Now come on! You have to pick a bunk!” He grabbed my hand and pulled me to where the bunks were. “This is my bunk right here” He opened up a curtain to reveal a messy bunk with a Home Alone picture taped in it, “And the one right across from it is empty, so take it!” He pulled the curtain open, and all we saw was Mickey Mouse. “Um, Jacks? I think this is Matt’s bunk.” Just then, I heard the back lounge door open, and there was Matt. “Yea Jack, that’s my bunk, so keep your filthy hands away from Mickey!” Matt looked at Jack as he was standing by his bunk. “But I want Izz to sleep across from me!” Jack always sounded like a 5 year old when he complained. “I was here first though!” “So! Izz’s new to tour, she should get to pick her bunk!” I have to admit, Jack was pretty good at arguing. “Again, I was here first.” “But Izz’s a girl, and you’re a..Matt.” Matt scowled at Jack on that one, and finally gave in. “Fine, you win, but don’t expect me to tune your guitar for you next time your too lazy to do it yourself.” “YES! Thanks Mickey Matt!” Jack attempted to give Matt a hug. Needless to say, he ended up on the floor. “Dude! What the hell is going on out there?” I heard another curtain open, and a head pop out. I looked over to see Rian. “RI!” “Oh my God! Izzy! Jack, why didn’t you tell me she was here?” He jumped out of his bunk and walked over to us. “Because you didn’t ask!” He said that like it was supposed to be obvious. “Bitch.” “Awh Rian! You know you love me!” Jack attempted to put his arm around Rian. “But I love Izzy more!” Rian then shrugged off Jack’s arm and gave me a hug. “Good to have you on tour Izz.” I hugged Rian back. I was just tall enough to rest my head on his shoulder without having to stand on my tip toes. Just as we released each other, I heard the door to the back lounge slam again. There stood Zack with no shirt on. “Really Zack? There’s a girl in the room! You could at least put a shirt on.” Jack was trying his hardest to be serious, failing miserably. “Whatever. Hey Izzy!” Zack came over and wrapped me in a hug. What was is with these guys and hugging people? “Hey Zachary!” Even without a shirt on, he still smelled really good. After Zach released me, we all walked into the front lounge and prepared for the 4 hour journey to the first venue. I sat down on the couch in between Alex and Jack and snuggled up close to Alex. He has always been like a big brother to me. They all have, but him especially, considering we were related. He wrapped his arm around me and laughed. “Is someone tired?” He used that voice like he uses when he’s talking to little kids. I yawned and looked up at him. “Yeah. You guys just had to come and pick me up at 6 in the morning.” I sighed and shut my eyes as Alex wrapped around a blanket for me. “There are prices to pay when you are famous.” That one I laughed at. Alex was always the one who said that once he became famous, he wasn’t going to change, and he never did. He’s still the same person in my eyes. Crazy, funny, loud, and sometimes annoying Alex. “Sure Alex. Whatever helps you sleep at night.” He laughed at that one. I had a feeling that the tour was going to be one that was unforgettable.
