Family Memories

Stella and Tom: Soon to be older brother and sister

Stella and Tom are just over two years old now, and Alex was coming home today. What worried me most was that he's finally home again after a month and a half long in the UK, which he left on the day I missed my period. I was concerned since I feared that Alex might miss out on this baby being born and a lot of the first that'll come with baby too.

"Jules, you seem on edge. Are you alright," Alex asked as I drove him home from the airport. I had called for a sitter for the twins so I could have time alone with Alex.

"I have some news to share with you," I told him.

"Jules, is it bad? Did your father get an appeal for parole," he was scared that my father might get out of jail, so my news will be the good kind.

"I missed my period the night you had to leave for tour," I told him.

"Jules, was it just late," he asked.

"No, it never came. Alex, I'm pregnant," I told him.

"Jules, that's wonderful. Why are you so scared," he noticed I was clutching the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white.

"I'm afraid that you might miss out on the birth and a lot of the babies firsts, Alex. This isn't going to be like it was when I was pregnant with Stella and Tom. I don't want to go through this alone," I was on the verge of tears as we finally pulled up into our driveway.

"Jules, you are never alone in this. I may not be home, but I am always here," he pointed to my heart, "I'm going to support you and our family always. You will never be alone."

"Let's go inside, Stell and Tom have missed you," I told him as I got out of the car.

I followed behind Alex as he went inside. Stella and Tom looked up from their movie and toys to see their father was finally home. Both of them ran into their father's arms. I smiled as my children and the love of my life reunited. As they've getting older, the two of them have gotten better at accepting that Daddy comes and goes but loves them so much he'd bring down his lucky stars for them.
"Mommy your tummy big," Stella was rubbing my stomach. I was 20 weeks along now and Alex was out at the studio today with the guys.

"Stella, Tom, do you know what's in my belly," I asked them. Both shook their heads.

"In there is your little brother or sister. At one time you two were in here too. I was much bigger though since I had to make room for both of you," I told them.

"Daddy lied. No UPS guy," Tom asked. I was going to hurt Alex for his talk to the twins.

"The UPS guy only deliveries what ever we would need for the baby. I have to go see the doctors at the hospital since they give my baby," I told them.

"Daddy go in corner for lying," Stella huffed. She put on her angry face that she got from Alex. The only downside was at being almost three she looked way too adorable to scare anyone.

"Mommy will talk with Daddy about it. Until then, you two are to say nothing of this talk," I got up carefully from the couch, "Now clean up your toys. Clean up for dinner while I get it started."

I can't wait until I have this little baby. I hope he's a boy. Tom could use the company. Stella always had Jack as her playmate and Tom was a third wheel to them. Aubree wasn't old enough yet to really play with them, but I knew that one day that would change.
