One Year Later And...

(AN: Just letting everyone know now that Adele's comment is not meant to be taken as her being a bad friend; just a VERY concerned one who wants the best for River)

"We have to do something, Amei! I'm getting sick and tired of her "Oh, woe is me" attitude. Her mother has been dead for three years now. I know it's wrong to say that and all, but if her mother could see her now, she'd likely die again," Adeleina quietly whispered to Amelia during their Advanced Psychology class in Bakers Amity University—which, thankfully, Riveria didn't have.

A year had passed and Riveria is now 20-years-old and still not smiling, laughing, or having fun in general. Her friends of four years, Amelia and Adeleina, has been there for her during everything. They had all became best friends starting their freshmen years at Bakers Amity High School (home of the Beavers Football team) when Riveria had made a comment about the workload given by their English teacher and Adela and Amei had joined in with her. They all were, of course, given detention together. And since then, it's like nothing can tear them apart.

"I know, Adela, but what can we do? We've tried everything we could possibly think of—we’ve taken her shopping in New York, had a spa day, took her to her favorite bookstore to buy whatever, and however much, she wanted. Even then, nothing," Amelia replied as she twirled her black hair around the tips of her middle finger and thumb.

Both girls have been doing this for a few minutes, having already finished some amounts of their homework before it was time for class to be let out.

"I don't know. I don't even know," replied Adela as she started to gather her belongings as the teacher finally signaled for them to leave for lunch. Where even 18-24 years old still try to rush just to hurry up and get all the good food before it’s gone.

"Now class, I know some of you are just dying to get out of here and eat lunch, but please remember to read over the notes and chapters 5-8 for the test next week. Alright, you're free to go," the teacher replied, as he too started to quickly pack his belongs together. Because his wife had mentioned that they were to go to the hospital for her daily check-up during his lunch hour.

All the kids groaned and packed up even more quickly, all but one. She quietly waited until most of her classmates had left the room, packed up her belongings, said goodbye to the teacher, and then headed to the already semi-packed cafeteria to meet up with her friends.

All the while never smiling or laughing—just wearing a depressed frown, never knowing the plot her best friends were planning.
