Me and Jack had been friends for a week now, and it was amazing having a friend to talk to. Of course, I still hadn't told him about my parents, I didn't really trust him enough yet.
"Lauren Williams, will you pay attention!" My art teacher shouted, throwing a paintbrush at me. I don't think she was aloud to throw things but everyone was too scared to report her.
"She was thinking about Jacky again!" Abigail teased, making kissy faces at me. I've never really liked Abigail, and she's never liked me.
"Shut up Abigail" The teacher shouted, then carried on talking. I let my mind wonder for the rest of the day until home time. Jack wasn't in today, so I had to go straight home, the last place I want to be.

On my walk home I thought about running away and living at Jack's house. Of course, that wouldn't happen. My parents would find me and my Dad would probably kill me.

I walked in and found my parents sat at the table.
"Lauren, sit down" Mum said. I was really worried.
"There's a letter from your school, they're worried about you and you have to start counselling." She said.
"Oh okay" I replied.
"But you are not to tell them anything true about this family, do you understand?" Dad said.
"Yes Dad" I said.
"Good, now start cooking dinner, I'm starving" He said. I got up and started cooking spaghetti and meatballs. Halfway through cooking, my phone buzzed in my back pocket.
To: Lauren
From: Jack
I'm coming over x
I stopped completely, he can't come over, Dad would kill me if he knew my only friend was a boy.
To: Jack
From: Lauren
No Jack you can't, I'm busy x
I replied. I waited for what seems like forever for a reply.
To: Lauren
From: Jack
Too late, I'm here x
Just then I heard a knock at the door. Shit.
"Lauren, get the door will you" Mum shouted. I practically ran to the door and opened it.
"What are you doing here?!" I whisper shouted.
"I came to see my best friend" He replied.
"Yeah well, you can't, my Dad doesn't know you're a boy, I told him you're a girl" I said. Before Jack could reply, Dad came round the corner.
"Who's this?" He asked me.
"Dad, this is Jack, he goes to my school, Jack this is my Dad" I introduced them. Dad grabbed a fistful of my hair, I squealed a little.
"Sorry Jack, Lauren isn't aloud a boyfriend" Dad said. He spun me around and punched me in the stomach. Jack just watched with his eyes wide in shock.
"Oh and if you tell anyone, I'll get you too" Dad laughed and slammed the door. He kicked me to the floor and started hitting me repeatedly. This is the worst it's ever been.
"No go to your room, I'll finish dinner." He said. I got up and stumbled up to my room. I looked at myself in the full length mirror to see the damage. A bit cut on a right elbow, a bruise forming on my left arm, another black eye, my nose was bleeding, there was blood in my hair, blood coming through my school tights, and my back hurt like hell. This really was by far the worst its ever been.
I heard a text come through on my phone but I decided to clean myself up first.

After 10 minutes I came back into my room and there was 1 text and 10 missed calls from Jack. I read the text.
To: Lauren
From: Jack
Lauren reply to me please, I need to know if you're alright, I never realised what you go through at home, you need to tell someone.

I sighed. I knew he was being helpful, but I just couldn't tell anyone, this is something that I'll have to put up with until I'm 18.

To: Jack
From: Lauren
Jack, I'm fine, I can put up with this until I'm 18. You can't tell anyone, I'll be alright don't worry about me

I put my phone down and decided that I was tired enough to sleep, so I turned off the lighted and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

I woke up the next morning and started my normal routine, until Mum walked into my room.
"You're not going to school until you've healed up, people will get suspicious." She said. I can't believe it, its hell for me here and I have to stay here for the next like 5 days. I was going to say something rude, but I decided against it.
"Okay" I smiled and went downstairs to make breakfast.

About halfway through the day, I got a text from Jack.
To: Lauren
From: Jack
Why aren't you in? Please tell me you're alright. x

To: Jack
From: Lauren
I'm fine, wont be in for the rest of the week x
He asked why but I just ignored it, he already knows too much. I went upstairs and worked on a new song.

*Time lapse*

I've been back at school for a week now and Jack kept asking me loads and loads of questions. I told him that he didn't need to know and he soon gave up. I've also had a few counselling sessions and they weren't that bad, but I'd rather not go. I've already told my counsellor how I hate my life and I'd rather be dead, she's really concerned now, and as there's only 2 weeks left before summer, she's going to talk to Mum. I was really dreading that. It was the end of the day and I'm not going to Jack's tonight, Dad wants me straight home. I got home and started making dinner, Mum and Dad didn't say a word to me until I'd finished.
"Sit with us, I want to talk to you" Mum said. I sat down.
"I got a latter from your school, I have to go in on the last day, what's it about?" She asked.
"Honestly Mum, I don't know" I lied.
"Okay" She said. We all ate in silence, when we'd finished, I washed up and did homework then went to bed.

I was not looking forward to that meeting at school.
