More Specifically, Me Maxine

Glass Hearts Shattering

Maxine’s POV

It was a grey, grimy day outside today, rain pouring hard and the thunder clapping loudly. A day that most people would want to say inside till the sun comes out but on these days are when I come out. Every sunshiney day reminds me of what I lost so the terror of lightning shooting down from the sky puts a big grin on my face.

I take my time getting ready this morning for school as I had gotten up earlier than normal. Your would think that I’d sleep in, but how can you sleep at night when all is lost and the sound of things being tossed from my drunken mother? It’s normal for me though, its been normal for about ten years.

Ever since my dad left, my life has been nothing but hell. The only good thing is that my best friend Razor Robins has stuck around, she’s the one keeping me alive anyway. I’ve fallen into this depression of never ending pain, even with Razor’s help just some part of my pain won’t go away. The pain that my father left is just something that will never go away, but of course I still have the guitar pick necklace he gave me, I’ve never taken it off and that guitar he gave me is still in my closet. I only play it when she isn’t around, I can’t afford to lose it, it has too many sentimental moments within it. All the times when I couldn’t fall asleep he’d play it for me, anytime I was down and just a small strum would cheer me up. Lastly I can’t forget about the hoodie, I wear it everyday practically, it keeps me warm and makes me feel a bit safe, like that my dad is still here. But everything good comes to an end.

I finish getting ready and walk down stairs to find my mom passed out on the couch, as normal as my life will possibly ever get.

I walk outside to see Razor waiting for me in her black range rover, it used to be her dad’s but as he has three other cars he just decided to give one to her, plus we didn’t want to die so we obviously didn’t let me drive. I hopped in the passenger seat and say thanks to her.

“Everything alright? Is your mom still acting like an ass?” Razor asks me.

“No, it’s never alright Raze, plus you know what today is anyway and yeah she is, when is she not?” I say using the nickname I gave her a while back ago in middle school.

“I had a feeling you’d say that. So that's why this Friday we’re leaving this town. You can’t say no it’s already planned and I told my parents.” Razor says to me, leaving me with a shocked face.

“But were not even eighteen yet! That isn’t legal!” I yell at her, knowing we just can’t leave the small town of Meadow Brooks, Virginia.

“It’s legal when you have parents in contact with the government and care about their child’s best friend who’s been through alot in her life and needs her dad." She says as we park into the parking lot at Meadowbrook High. Home of the Meadowbrook Powhatan's with a school population of 12,000 students. “Now come on, class starts in ten.”

We walk into the building and we head to our lockers and meet up with our friends Harmony and Wizz, both sisters who look nothing alike.

“Hey Harms, Wizz!” I yell, jumping on Wizz’s back and scaring her.

Razor laughs a bit and we talk to Harmony and Wizz before we head off to first period gym.

We walk into the locker room and change into the grey and black uniform. After that we walk into the gym and today we have the state fitness test so we do that for the whole period and then Razor and I head off to our separate ways to our next three classes without each other, then later to meet up at lunch.

Three hours pass and by then its 12:20 and I meet Razor at her locker while I get my lunch from my locker next to hers.

“So I was thinking we should tell Harmony and Wizz about Friday? Just so they don’t panic.” Razor says to me as we walk down to the cafeteria on the first floor of the school, as our lockers are on the second one.

“Okay but don’t blame me as Harmony yells at you.” I say knowing Harmony she’ll get mad at us for leaving as she always gets angry when Razor dyes her hair, currently neon blue.

“She yells at me for my hair, plus I know how to shut her up.”

“How”

“Give her twenty dollars for manga.”

“Of course.” I say as we walk into the cafeteria, to our normal table we’ve sat at since freshman year, now in junior year.

Harmony and Wizz are already at the table when we get there, then Razor breaks the news...not so subtle.

“Harmony, Wizz. Maxine and I are going away for a while, hell knows how long and when we’ll get there and before you can say anything about us not going Harmony here's twenty dollars for manga.” She says bluntly, handing the money to Harmony.
"What! You can't leave, what about school! And the anime! YOU CAN'T FORGET THE ANIME!" Wizz yells, making the whole cafeteria look at us.

"Nothing to see here people, go back to your shitty lives!" Razor yells. "We're leaving Friday and they have online schooling you know. The anime we can buy on box set and listen to on the TV in my car."

"Can't we come with you guys?" Harmony asks.

"Not gonna happen. This is serious business that you two can't screw with." Razor says as the lunch bell rings.

"Fine but you have to send pictures and text us and call us everyday. I don't want to find out you two died." Wizz says seriously.

"We won't die if I drive. Remember, kindergarten, Barbie jeep, stop sign?" I say remembering the time where I drove my Barbie jeep into the stop sign, and then I started crying when my dad held me in his arms telling me everything was alright. How I wish that I could see him again.

"Yup, I'm driving. Come on now Maxy, we have history, then we can go to my place and then we can look back on your past. I know it hurts that its been ten years today." Razor says, now walking to Mr. Waters history class.

"And hot coco?" I ask with pleading eyes.

"With marshmallows." She says and I start spinning around, then seeing our friend Tyler,me still spinning and elbowing him where it hurts.

"Tyler I'm so sorry!" I say laughing with Razor.

"No problem Max" Tyler says in pain.

"Lets just get to class now." Razor says, help guiding Tyler to our last class of the day.

Notes

I stayed up till 1:00am to finish this, and I'm sorry for the abrupt ending, I couldn't think of anything else.
Also Razor, Harmony, Wizz, and Tyler are based off of some of my friends in real life! I won't say who just for reasons why. And the incident where Maxine elbows Tyler while spinning around in the hall...... that really did happen. But when Razor helped him get to class that didn't happen, we had separate classes last school year.
Also some things I'll be relating from my life, like when Harmony yelled at Razor for dying her hair? Yeah that happened, same when I cut my hair and yes I really did ram my Barbie jeep into a stop sign. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT I WAS YOUNG OKAY!
I'll try to do daily updates but remember I have The Broken Rhythm and The Forgotten Five to work on too.
Till darkness completes us,

Plus I was bored and felt the need to get the story finished, I just don't have the time to write all these updates for the amount of stories I'm producing at the moment
