I sit in class, not paying attention at all. All I can think about is Alex and Saturday.

I know what your thinking. He told me he loved me! I should be happy! I can't be happy. He told me he loved me and he was drunk. I don't know if he meant it. If he didn't mean it, it would kill me.

He's with Lisa anyway. Why would he mean it? Lisa seems oblivious the whole thing. I guess that's good. If Alex is gay, Lisa, being friends with popular people, would probably tell everyone. So it's best she doesn't know what happened.

Jack walks in late with an excuse and slips into the chair next to me. He taps my shoulder and I look at him.

"Can you explain to me why you came to my house this morning and flipped out about Alex?" He asks quietly while the teacher talks. I sigh and glance at the teacher to make sure be doesn't see us talking. I'd rather not get in trouble for talking in class.

"I told you." I whisper.

"You told me he said he loved you. Knowing you like him, I don't see the problem." Jack whispers. I bite my lip.

"The thing is, is he was drunk. He's dating Lisa! I don't want to be the one pouting over a misunderstanding! He was drunk! I don't think he meant it." I whisper. He sighs and opens his mouth to say something, but the teacher interrupts him.

"Mr. Dawson. Mr. Barakat. Is there something you want to share with the class?" Mr. Tyler asks. We shake our heads.

"No, sir." We both say.

"Then stop talking or you'll both get detention." He says. We nod and he continues the lecture.

"We'll talk about this later." Jack whispers. I just ignore him. When class lets out I hurry down the hall before Alex can see me.

"Rian!" Jack yells. I turn around and he stops right in front of me. "At least talk to him. He was close to a panic attack this morning." I look at him and bite my lip. "I'm serious."

"Come with me!" I say grabbing his arm and running to the nurse's office. I see Alex lying down with ice on his forehead. "Hey, Alex. What happened?"

"Panic attack. No biggie." He says as if it was nothing and then looking away from me. I guess he doesn't want anything to do with me. Maybe he's just mad at me for ignoring him.

"It's a pretty big deal, Alex." Jack says. He shrugs and I sigh.

"I have to get to class." I say walking out of the room and down the hall. I spot Heather and walk in the other direction.

"Rian." She calls catching up to me. "So, you and Alex are coming on that double date right?"

"I think I'm going to put that off... I'm kind of... Stuck on something." I say walking away from her.

After school I see Alex with Lisa and I just watch them. Alex doesn't look comfortable or happy. He sees me and bites his lip as Lisa kisses his cheek. He doesn't look happy.

Jack rams into me almost ramming me into the wall. He's jumping up and down.

"DUDE! DUDE! DUDE! I found a bassist!" Jack shrieks. That catches Alex's attention and he runs over to us. He keeps his distance from me and so do I. I'm still confused and if he loved me he would probably be flirting.

"SERIOUSLY?" Alex yells.

"Yes! He goes to our rival school. He's coming over later so, you two better get along or there's going to be some bonding." Jack says walking away from us. I look at Alex and he sighs turning around and walking away.

"What did I do?" I mutter walking the other way.

I head home and walk into the house slamming the door. My mom looks at me and I throw my bag at the wall.

"Rian?" My mom asks. I sit on the couch and sigh. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I have to go to Jack's for band practice tonight." I say walking upstairs and slamming my door and then staying there for the rest of the night.
