A Little Bit Chilly

Eighteen

Her eyes were of the deepest brown. Her hair was like the softest silk. The touch of her skin was like running your hand along beauty itself. She was beauty itself.

I didn't know how else to describe her.

What were we? I wanted to call her mine so, so desperately. But I couldn't. I didn't think I ever would. She didn't quite act like she liked me, much.

I kissed her before she went on stage when they played their hometown. For good luck.

We didn't speak the rest of the day. Or the day after that. And on day three, we were heading home.

We were in Texas. The hottest state of them all. And I was all alone.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hunted for her. I refused to go down without a fight. Not if I could help it.

I searched through the sea of crew members, band members, what have you, for her signature, almost ballet-grace walk. For her long, curly locks. For that little strand of pink that always stuck out at the bottom.

I could not find her, for the life of me.

I didn't know where anyone was. Where I was. Where my band was. I was in the middle of chaos, and my heart was breaking. All I wanted was to say goodbye.

I felt let down. I didn't quite understand why I felt so sad. That was why I didn't get attatched. I was always shit on in the end.

I sat on a folding chair near somebody's trailer. I didn't care whose trailer it was. It was my chair then, and if they didn't like it, I was going to get naked.

"Hey," A light voice murmured, "That's my chair."

Of course. By chance, it was Silence of the Unwritten Beast's trailer. Because fate worked out like that.

"Hey," I smiled. Nikki knelt down next to me and covered my right hand, which was sitting on the arm-rest, and sighed.

"I'm just going to hurt you," she whispered. "I always end up doing that to people. So don't take me staying away personally."

"I don't care," I brought my face closer to hers. "I'm a tough guy. I can handle it."

"Doubt it."

"I can."

Nikki narrowed her eyes. She removed her hands, slipped them into her shorts pockets, and threw her phone at me.

"Put your number in that. Keep in touch. We'll see."

I laughed. I plucked my phone out of my pants, and gently handed it to her.

"And you," I said as I unlocked hers, "put your number in that. Keep in touch. Then we'll see."

She obliged.

"Come back with me," I said suddenly. "Come to Baltimore with me. Just hang out. Stay at my place with me and Rian."

"Why?" Nikki growled.

"Because. We're friends, right? I consider us friends," I paused. "Do you?"

"I'm giving you my number, aren't I?"

"You also gave me your--"

Nikki's eyes widened and she slapped her hand across my mouth. "Just because we did...that does not mean you can just casually discuss it in public."

"We're not in public!" I protested behind her hand.

"Besides," I continued. "Who cares? Everybody makes babies every now and then."

"Not me," Nikki laughed. She shook her head and dropped her hand. "Just...no. I like to keep that part of my life behind closed doors."

"I'm a closed door, then."

"If you want to put it that way, sure," Nikki took her phone from my hands. She sat back, slid her legs out in front of her, and lay her head against the trailer. Her eyes moved up and around. She was thinking, or calculation. Maybe both.

"Give me three good reasons to visit you in Balitmore," she said at last. I smiled.

"One: I'm sexy. Two: I have dogs. Bitches love dogs. Three: It could be the start of a wonderful relationship."

"So you want my D," she clarified. I laughed so hard I choked and began gasping for air as I leaned forward, coughing.

"I already got your D," I rasped, able to finish the sentence she had not let me finish earlier.

"Oh my God!" Nikki slapped my arm. "You're stupid."

"I know," I smiled and lightly smacked her arm right back. She laughed and leaned to the left, so her head rested on my right leg. I dropped my hand so it lay on her shoulder.

"So you like me, then," she asked quietly. I nodded. I didn't think she could see it, but she probably knew the answer.

"And you want to get to know me better," she went on. I nodded again.

"You really, really want to do this?"

I nodded.

"Alright," Nikki whispered. "Prepare for the biggest shit-show of your life."

~Idk, this just seemed perfect~
