Secrets and Lies

Chapter Forty One

-Jack's POV-

Alex was led down on the black leather couch, feet rested on my lap, scribbling away in a notebook trying to come up with more lyrics whilst I had Home Alone, yet again, on the screen hung on the wall.

He'd officially moved back in again, I'm still clean and we as a couple are stronger than ever, it's beyond amazing how we've pulled through all the bullshit, it really is. I'm so grateful that he's been there for me, just like he said he would be. Because I can't even imagine how much of a state I would be right now without him...without his direction and guidance, and his necessary arguments.

"Hey Lex," I said, pausing the movie, not wanting to miss a second. "It's June 8th....you know what that means?"

He shot me a quizzical look over the top of his journal and slowly shook his head. "No.....what does that mean?"

"Ugh, it meeeeeans," I answered with a roll of my eyes. "That it was a year ago today that I came into the salon, a year today that I met my best friend and a year today that I met the love of my life."

Alex shut the book he was still holding, placed it on the table and sat up, rubbing the tip of his nose on mine. "Well, happy one year, babe!"

I closed the distance between us and lightly pecked his lips, not wanting it to turn into anything more heated. "So I was thinking.....we should do something special...."

He let out a chuckle and lowered his head, playing with my fingers. "If you're planning a date where we have to get up at 4am again, don't even bother, dude." He laughed.

" 'course not," I smiled. "We're doing something tonight though, it's already arranged."
Alex's eyes lit up as he looked at me again, a huge smile painted on to his face.
"....and no," I carried on. "I'm not going to give anything away. Now go and decide on an outfit to wear because we have to leave at about 4."

A groaning Alex pulled himself up off of the couch, but not before cupping his hands either side of my face and planting a soft kiss on my forehead. "I love you Jack Barakat, with all my heart."

Every time he spoke those three words my stomach did frightened little flips and I felt a blush crawl up my face. "I love you too, now get a move on!" I laughed.

"Okay okay! I'm going!" He surrendered, throwing his hands above his head.
I pointed the remote back at the TV and pressed play, the movie starting up again as Alex was getting ready. Tonight is going to be perfect.

The remainder of the afternoon was spent with my boyfriend begging me to tell him where we were going, but I refused to give in, causing him to pout even more often than usual. He's changed his outfit on several occasions too, 'needing to know where we were going so he knew what kind if clothes to wear' so after giving up with that ploy, he settled on his grey American flag skinnies and a black Glamour Kills tee; it was simple, but that's just the way I liked it, he didn't need to dress up, he looked perfect just the way he was.

I made sure to stop off at a Maccy's on the way, knowing that there wouldn't be time to eat later on, so we went through the drive thru and ate on the way to the mystery place.

As we were nearing our destination, to avoid the crowds of people, we took a left rather than right and pulled up alongside a black and green bus, a mustache on the front above the grill.

Alex took a look around the parking lot we were in, an eyebrow hitched as he faced me.
"C'mon princess, outcha get, we're here." I smiled, giving his cheek a quick kiss before climbing out of the car.

Alex joined me at the hood, still looking around us, eyes filled with confusion. "I-I don't get it....you're taking me to a parking lot?"

I looked down at the ground, shoulders shaking from my quiet laughter. I was about to explain when the door of the bus flew open, and a man we knew all to well shouting at the top of his lungs.

"YO GASKARTH! YOU COULD LOOK A BIT MORE CHEERY YANNO!" He yelled.

Alex cocked his head to the left, finding the source of the ruckus, eyes widening immediately. "JAIME!"

I watched as they ran towards one another and hug each other as tightly as they could, like they hadn't seen each other in months....I suppose, technically they haven't.

"Back off Preciado, he's mine." I joked, earning a laugh from said man.

I kinda knew they would want a proper catch up so I told them I was going to go see the other guys on the bus for a while, so I gave the pair a quick hug and made my way on board.

Tony was in the back lounge practicing his finger placement, obviously nervous, and I found Mike banging his drumsticks on the countertop of the small kitchen they had installed.
A pair of hands suddenly covered my eyes, slightly scaring me for a second. "Guess whoooo!"

I didn't need to guess, the voice was obvious. "Victor Fuentes." I laughed, pushing his hands away and taking a seat on the small couch. "Thanks for getting us in dude, means a lot."

"Hey, anything for my best bud!" He smiled, handing me a soda. "I got you guys side stage, you cool with that?"

"For sure! Cheers!" I smiled as he sat next to me, clinking his can with mine and throwing my arm around his shoulder.

We stayed like that for 10 minutes or so before Jaime and Alex decided to join us, the latter coming and sitting on my lap.

"Having a quickie in the parking lot were we?" I winked in Jaime's direction.

"Oh, wouldn't you like to know?" He winked back, earning a protest from the boy sat on me.

I gave him a small kiss and leaned my head in the crook of his neck as a man with a clipboard walked in, wearing a headseat. "P.T.V stage door 3, you're on in 10, aaaaand, guests," he said, now looking up at me and Alex, "door two for side stage." He ticked something on the sheet and exited the bus, Tony coming out of the back room, jumping on Mike's back for a piggyback ride and Jaime pulled Vic up, walking out hand in hand.

"Good luck guys!" I smiled as Alex got off of me.

"Not that you'll need it." Alex continued.

The pair nodded in thanks and hopped off into the main building and I wrapped my arms around the caramel haired boy's waist.

"This better than a parking lot, Lex?" I teased.

He placed his arms around my neck and pressed a passionate kiss to my lips before smiling against them. "Way better."

It was nearing the end of the set now, they had one last song to play and 'Besitos' was now coming to a close.

Although we'd been given fold up chairs to sit on, we spent most of our time on our feet, jumping up and down, headbanging and singing at the top of our lungs, much like the hundreds of fangirls in front of them.

I don't remember having this much fun in such a long time....the fact that I was with Alex and watching my best friend living his dream made it even better. Those were the things I needed now in my life, Alex, my friends, and loud ass music.

As the venue filled with a loud roar of applause and cheers, the music faded and a very sweaty Vic fist pumped the air above him. "New York City! I want to bring a few good friends of mine out on stage, do you guys mind?!" The crowd cheered once more as a security guard pushed Alex and I to the very side of the stage. This wasn't part of what I had planned, and Alex looked pretty nervous. "Guys, give it up for JACK BARAKAT AND ALEX MOTHER FUCKING GASKARTH!" Vic beckoned us out and we sheepishly walked out, waving at the crowd and getting a few wolf whistles.

Tony walked over to us whilst every one was still clapping, shouting into my ear first, and then Alex's, earning a nod from each of us.

A technician came out on stage and handed a wireless microphone to Alex, and one of Tony's guitars to me.

"Right guys!" Vic yelled into the mic in front of him. "Alex and Jack are gonna close out with us tonight! This song.....IS CALLED BULLS IN THE BRONX!"

"Thank you for tonight Jay, honestly, it was fucking awesome!" Alex smiled as we walked through our front door.

"Glad you enjoyed it....besides, you deserved it, what with the way I've treated you lately..."

"Oh shut up," he giggled, pushing me against the wall and kissing me roughly before pulling away. "We're past that now, I can't stay mad at you forever, you mean too much to me."

"I do love you, Lex." I beamed as he loosened his grip on me and started to walk towards the stairs.

"I love you too, I think I'm gonna go to bed though, I'm bloody exhausted."

"Noooo," I protested. "Come shower with me?"

"Ugh whyyyy?" He whined, turning to face me.

"Because we're both all gross and sweaty and it'll make the bed smell, now c'mon." I stated, dragging him up the stairs by the wrist.

I did plan to have some fun in the shower, but now I was just far too tired, so I would have to skip right to the next part. I let the water run as we undressed slowly, letting the water heat up.

Alex climbed in first, obviously wanting to get it over and done with so he could get to bed sooner and sleep. I stepped on after him, getting out the orange scented body wash and pouring some on to the palm of my hand and then beginning to massage his back with it, applying pressure to the spots I knew would be sore, quickly getting a small moan of approval from him. I carried on for a few minutes, then he returned the favor, but then splashing water into my face, so I did the same, both of us starting to giggle.

"Pass me the shampoo babe." He asked, pointing to the cabinet behind me.

"Nope." I smiled.

"What, why not?" He asked, taking a step towards me so that neither of us were under the running water.

"Because."

"Because what?" He asked.

"Because I said so, now turn around."

Reluctantly, he did what I told him and I turned to the cabinet and opened the door as quietly as I could, not wanting to ruin the surprise. I grabbed the small black velvet box that was hidden behind the collection of lotions and potions. Alex still had his back to me thankfully, so I turned to face him, and opened the box, revealing the plain silver ring inside. It was now or never.

"Alex," I breathed nervously.

"Yu-huh?"

"Look at me a sec."

He turned around and as soon as he saw what I was holding, his mouth dropped open, eyes so wide that I thought they were going to pop from his skull.

"Lex, words can't really describe what I feel for you. I love being with you. If I could do it everyday, I would. I love it when we're together, because when we are it's amazing. You make me smile, laugh, and happy like no one ever has before. The tickle fights, the flour fights, the kisses, the cuddling, the laughing, the holding hands, the teasing, everything...I'm happiest when I'm with you, us being apart proved that. You can make a bad day instantly better. You make me laugh even when I've been feeling like crap all day. You manage to bring out a smile in me that no one else can. Your face lights up every room you walk into, your voice makes me want to listen for hours on end. Your eyes electrify me, your touch awakens me, you're perfect, smart, funny, and the nicest person I've ever met. Alexander William Gaskarth, I know I haven't been perfect, but would you do me the honor of marrying me?"

Alex's eyes were now brimming with tears and a hand clamped over his mouth. He slowly brought his hand away from his face and caressed mine and slowly nodded.

"Yes! Yes yes yes!"

(Okay but to comment about something else and avoid my feels) This was very beautifully written. You are a fabulous writer and I hope that one day you publish books and become ridiculously famous. Like world wide famous. People from Canada, US, Russia... just everywhere, THE WORLD SHALL KNOW YOUR NAME AND WORSHIP YOU.
Sorry, got a little carried away there. Hahaha! But yeah, I love your writing and I wanted you to know. ^-^
