Alex POV
Jacks’ little sister was so cute. I always wanted a little sister instead I have an awful older brother. Oh well I guess you can’t choose your family. “Okay let’s get on with our music project” I told Jack
“Yeah sure” came his reply
“What should we write about?” I asked Jack
“How about someone close to you dying?”
“Yeah that sounds like a good idea” I replied to him “Lets stat with something like this. He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes. Started making his way past two in the morning he hasn’t been sober for days. Leaning now into the breeze remembering Sunday he falls to his they had breakfast together but two eggs don’t last like the feeling of what he needs”
“Jack, Alex dinnertime” Jacks mum called from downstairs
Alright coming mom” Jack called back
“Thank you so much Mrs Barakat that was lovely” I told Jacks mum
“Alex dear” Jacks mum called me back “Please call me Joyce” After dinner me and Jack went back to his room to finish the song for our music project. When we finally finished the project it was late so Jack asked if I wanted to stay the night. So I rang my mother to ask if I was able to stay at Jacks for tonight. My mother said it was fine. Jack and I talked about the music project.
“So Jack why did you want to write a song about someone close to you dying? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to”
“No no no I’ll tell you my dad died about a year ago. He died in a car crash , thing is if I hadn’t rang him up to come and get me from school that day he wouldn’t have been in the crash because he wouldn’t have been in the way of the truck”
“Oh okay I’m sorry for asking I know I would be devastated if my dad died suddenly” I replied sympathetically
“Thing is my little sister was in the car as well he was picking her up from daycare. I dunno what I would have done if she died as well. She means everything to me. I was so frightened and terrified when I got the call saying I needed to go straight to Baltimore general hospital as there had been an accident and my mum was out of town and they couldn’t get in touch with her and May wouldn’t be seen by any of the doctors until she had seen me .I was terrified. I didn’t know what to expect. I went to the hospital immiatly. I then saw my little sister and thankful that she was talking. After I had spoken to her and told her the doctors would make her better. She suddenly collapsed and started fitting. The doctors came over. I was now in a terrible panic. I wanted to know what was wrong with my little sister. She was out for at least a week. I thought I was gonna lose her .I didn’t want to lose any one else close to me. I had already lost my dad. The investigation had told us that the driver was five times over the limit and that’s why he hit my dad’s car “
“Oh I am so sorry Jack at least your little sister is alright she’s really cute. Do you have a middle name?”
“Yes I do its bassam. What about you?”
“William, Alexander William”
“Oh that sounds very posh Alexander William”
