Jacks POV It was my first day at my new school. Brookside high. I was informed that I would be in 9WRD and my form tutor would be Mr Ward. Mr Ward then introduced me to class and told me that Alex would be helping me and showing me around. OMG he was cute but he was probably already taken and straight. I couldn’t let him find out that I was gay and had a crush on him on the first day. It all started in America when Tony found out I was gay. He told the school I was devastated. I started being called names in the halls and in class. It then started getting physical they would also ring my phone to give me abuse at home, that’s when I started… I started cutting myself. Some days I just couldn’t face going into school knowing they would be waiting for me. That’s why I didn’t want anyone to find out because I was scared. I didn’t know how they would react .At lunch Alex took me to the cafeteria to meet his friends Rian and Zack and their girlfriends Casadee and Laura. Alex then ran off and said he would be back he was just going to meet Taylor. I asked Rian and Zack who Taylor was. They told me that she was a girl who Alex had a huge crush on and only decided to speak to her a week ago. I had to hide my disappointment “So Jack?” Rian asked “What do you enjoy doing?”
“uhh I enjoy playing guitar and writing songs although I find it difficult to write because I have dyslexia so sometime the words and letters get all muddled “ I replied
“Oh” Rian said “Well maybe Alex could help he writes songs for our band “
“You’re in a band “I exclaimed “What do you do?”
“Well I play drums, Zack plays bass and Alex plays guitar and sings you should come along to my house tonight and watch us play. We could do with someone independent to tell us how we sound! And we can order pizza if you want”
“Uhh yea sure I will just let my mum know that I don’t need any tea and that I’m going to be late home so she will have to pick my little sister up from the daycare centre. Thanks guys “
“It’s okay we enjoy looking after the new kids do you want a lift to mine with me, Zack and Alex.” Rian asked
“Yeah alright thanks” Just as the bell rang for last lesson Alex came back so that we could go to chemistry “Alex?” I asked as we walked towards chemistry
“Yeah” he replied
“Umm Rian told me that you play guitar and write songs “
“Yeah”
“Well I kind of do too, I was wondering if you could help me write songs cause sometimes that words and letters get muddled cause I have dyslexia”
“Yeah sure show me what you have. Would you like to come to band practice tonight? Then I can give you a hand”
“Yeah Rian already invited me along. What is the name of your band?”
“All Time Low it’s from a New Found Glory song! Do you like Blink 182?” Alex asked
“Yeah they are one of my favourite bands”
“Great I really think you’re going to get along with me Rian and Zack. Do you play guitar?”
“Yeah I do. I really enjoy playing it. I wrote a song”
“Maybe you could show us tonight at band practice. We could get Rians mum to go pick up your guitar”
“Yeah that would be brilliant thanks!”
“Where do you live?”
“324 Brookside Avenue” I replied “You?”
“Just down the street from you actually at 314 Brookside Avenue”
