I Wouldn't Know What to Say if I Had You

I Wouldn't Know What to Say if I Had You

Today was going to be it. The day that Alex finally told Jack how he felt about him. Alex has been trying to collect the courage to do this for months and finally decided that today would be the day.

The only problem was figuring out a way to tell Jack about his feelings. He knows the best way to do it is to just talk to him and explain his feels, but Alex had a problem with being subtle about things and could see himself just saying "I think you and I should fuck!" And not be taken seriously and therefore laughed at. He wasn't going to chance that embarrassment.
Other than that though, Alex honestly couldn't think of any way to tell him that wouldn't be stupid, creepy, or embarrassing. He just lie in his bedroom listening to music trying to think of an easy way to do this. Singing along to "I Miss You" he got his idea:

Write a song.

Duh. It was such a simple and easy idea that he literally facepalmed himself. Why didn't I think of this sooner? he thought. Taking out his songbook and picking up his guitar he began to write.

***
Later that day after he finished the song, he took his guitar and book and left towards Jack's house. He knocked on the door and Jack opened it quickly. "Hey, Alex!" Jack greeted smiling. Alex waved and walked into the house. "So, what's up?" Asked Jack.

"Jack, I need to tell you something." Alex said. Jack nodded.
"Okay, tell me." He encouraged.

Alex blushed slightly. "I, um, I kinda wrote it in a song." He said nervously. Jack raised his eyebrows slightly and you could tell he was a bit confused. "You wrote a song for me?" Jack asked, smiling slightly. Alex blushed again and nodded. He sat down on the couch and positioned his guitar in his hands.

"I wrote it, like, literally ten minutes ago, so it's not totally complete." Alex said. Jack only nodded in response and then Alex began to play.

I wish you could see your face right now
'Cause you're grinning like a fool
And we're sitting on your kitchen floor
On a Tuesday afternoon
It doesn't matter when we get back
To doing what we do
'Cause right now could last forever
Just as long as I'm with you
You're just a daydream away
I wouldn't know what to say if I had you
And I'll keep you a daydream away
Just watch from a safe place
So I never have to lose
We would go out on the weekend
To escape our busy lives
And we'd laugh at all the douche-bag guys
Chasing down their desperate wives
I would drink a little too much
You'd offer me a ride
And I would offer you a t-shirt
And you would stay another night
But you're just a daydream away
I wouldn't know what to say if I had you
And I'll keep you a daydream away
Just watch from a safe place
So I never have to lose

After Alex finished playing he averted his gaze to the floor. Jack said nothing though, and that made Alex worry.

"So, w-what do you think?" Alex asked nervously. He was pretty sure that Jack would reject his feelings in the next second. "That was a love song," Jack stated it more than asked. "and it was about...me?" Alex nodded. "You like me, Alex?" Jack asked. Alex nodded again. Alex could just feel his face burning right about now. He was mentally preparing himself for the rejection.

"I-I'm sorry, Jack! I just ha–"
"Why are you sorry, Alex? I like you too..." Jack interrupted, voice trailing off. Alex looked over to Jack, eyes wide, and saw his face was just as red as his was.
"Seriously?" Alex asked in disbelief. Jack laughed nervously and nodded.
"Without a doubt you're all I dream about, Alex," said Jack, moving to sit down next to him. "I'm glad you feel the same way too." Jack lifted Alex's chin and then attached their lips together.
